  1. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Jan 17, 2013 -> 12:02 PM) Chud removed himself from consideration to become OC for the Panthers. Zampese also elected to stay with the Bengals. Jobs where the coaches werent lame ducks None the less the argument that "no one wanted it" is false, there were other options, I just merely showed even very respected coaches were interested. Its also false to suggest the Bears tried to find a new OC last year, Tice was promoted within 3 days.
  2. QUOTE (bmags @ Jan 17, 2013 -> 11:50 AM) You don't remember last year? Nobody wanted that job where it wasn't sure how long lovie would last. Nobody wanted the job. Evidence suggests otherwise. Martz resigned on January 3, 2012. Tice was promoted on January 6, 2012. How do you even search for a new coach in 3 days?
  3. QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Jan 17, 2013 -> 11:50 AM) Nobody would want to come work for a lame-duck coach on the last year of his contract. Nobody wanted to come work for Lovie when they brought in Martz. Thats just not true. There are plenty of coaches that want an opportunity. Im sure there were plenty of people that wanted to work for the Bears when Martz was brought in. The bears just thought Martz would do well. http://sports.espn.go.com/chicago/nfl/news/story?id=4877772 The Bears had plenty of choices, they just took the wrong guy, per usual.
  4. QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Jan 17, 2013 -> 11:44 AM) Another year with Tice as OC wouldn't have been a productive year. Why was Tice ever the OC? Was that Lovie or was that Emery? I guess I just dont see why the Bears couldnt try and go out and get a real OC. Not Martz, who is a specialized guy. Just a solid OC who understands football and see what happens. There had to be a bunch of guys who would want to work with Cutler, Forte and Marshall. Thats a good 3 to start with.
  5. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Jan 17, 2013 -> 11:41 AM) With Marinelli out, I'm against the hire. I adore Rod Marinelli. This is why I was not a fan from the beginning. I just think it will be difficult to replicate the Bears defensive success and the offense wont improve enough next year to offset it. Since the Bears defense is getting old, I felt you should take another shot next year because there is a chance in 2 years guys like Tillman, Urlacher, Peppers are not the same, or not around.
  6. QUOTE (daa84 @ Jan 17, 2013 -> 11:37 AM) Andy Reid watched all 16 chiefs games before his interview with KC. Trestman says he hasn't seen much film on the current group of bears players. WTF Hes been looking at game film of CFL teams in case he didnt get the job. He is moving to an entirely different league and he hasnt been a part of the NFL for over 5 years. Things done changed.
  7. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jan 17, 2013 -> 10:33 AM) Why is it not a smart decision? He probably doesn't need the money. Why work someplace you don't want to work if you don't have to? Seems to me, if he wouldn't be happy, or would be happier elsewhere, its a very smart decision. I agree. Its not like Marinelli is a 30 year old coordinator trying to make it in the NFL. Im sure that Marinelli can get a bunch of nice offers with 6 figure salaries.
  8. QUOTE (fathom @ Jan 16, 2013 -> 11:33 PM) He found out the 6th at the awards show in Orlando. Yeah Im merging dates at this point. He told ND on the 26th. (edit) I just assumed that the day he found out he told ND. At least that would be a good lie/story.
  9. QUOTE (SOXOBAMA @ Jan 16, 2013 -> 11:28 PM) Brian Hamilton ‏@ChiTribHamilton Manti Te'o on 12/8, 2 days after hoaxers call again: "I don't like cancer at all. I lost both my grandparents and my girlfriend to cancer. I think that guy is quoting a typo. One of the articles incorrectly states Te'o found out on December 6. I believe the actual date is December 26th. They are missing a "2" once in a while. Thats what happens when you crank out a story in an hour.
  10. The only way I accept Tebow on any roster is the last man. And in that position his function would be primarily decoy but if you can get the other team to spend time preparing for him that is likely more than you get out of your normal last man. Im sure Trestman thinks Tebow is a Steve Young waiting to be groomed like a Japanese garden.
  11. Im actually starting to lean more towards this is some sort of well established scam. Here is my reasoning, Mauia seems to be the only person in this that has no real motive. Why would he speak out for no reason? Why would he defend a dead girl that is supposedly a hoax? What does he have to gain? To me that makes his testimony credible. And the part that he said that makes me think scam is "Her father had just died". Why does that make me think scam? In the Te'o story the girl was also in a bad situation. Car accident, cancer, death. These are all things that make a caring person more likely to give money etc. Its a classic scam "I am in a bad situation, I would never ask for this, but could you please do X, I really really need it". He allegedly gave her the game ball to some ND game I think. If that is his story, find out where he sent it, track it and youll get your answer.
  12. Kalapse, Hadnt seen that quote before where it mentioned Polumula. It also is strange because of the timing as according to the Te'o story he was with her in 2009. If Mauia met her in 2011 then she had definitely met Te'o if she is the same person. So you would have thought she might mention that she was good friends with another football player, Te'o.
  13. What has been said about Polumalu and this? Other than hes Samoan and that would then go back to my this is somehow like a nigerian prince scam. (edit) The Aikman part was a joke, I just hadnt read an connection with Polumalu.
  14. I thought Lovie and Marinelli were friends. If that is true would be hard for Marinelli to stay, he seems like a loyal guy.
  15. QUOTE (DrunkBomber @ Jan 16, 2013 -> 10:58 PM) L K ‏@LennayKay It isn't fair to drag Reagan and Troy into this.. a lot of truths and myths need to be addressed here, and they will be at noon PST tomorrow Who is Troy? The only 2 I know of are Aikman and Polumalu.
  16. This is a pretty crack pot theory, but I cant understand the Reagan Maui'a angle. If ND and T'eo are to be believed now, this girl never really existed. But if Reagan Maui'a is to believed she is real. So those are mutually exclusive statements. Why under any circumstances would Reagan Maui'a get involved? To protect some fake girls honor? What if this is like some sort of Nigerian Prince scam amongst the Samoan community. And the reason Reagan Maui'a claim to have met her before T'eo (which would have been what 2008 when she was 18? and Reagan Maui'a was 24?) is that someone was trying to run a similar scam on him. Or I guess he could be the leader of the scam. And while Reagan Maui'a is from American Samoa he did attend University of Hawaii, so there would be some overlap in Hawaii. The strange part is, I dont believe his gf was from Hawaii. She was a Stanford student and only visited Hawaii rarely. So there really shouldnt be a lot of overlap between Reagan Maui'a and the girl T'eo was with. This is the best tv show ive seen in a while.
  17. I wish Seinfeld was on Netflix, Id love to watch that from start to finish again.
  18. QUOTE (G&T @ Jan 16, 2013 -> 09:37 PM) Isn't it pretty much the definition of a sociopath to be that kind of a deceiver? If he is, then he is an odd sociopath. He had the ability to do so many other things, and all he did was create a fake girlfriend and kill her for attention? And he did it when he was already on top of the world for attention. Although I guess you could argue that when he got attention from his grandmother dieing he fell in love with that feeling and thus killed his girlfriend to get the same satisfaction. I dont know, just doesnt really make sense. Id really have to do some research. What Id want to see is the first article to ever mention his girlfriend and then see how it progresses. It just seems so ridiculous to think that he created this fake story to eventually kill off his gf for attention. I could be wrong, I just feel like something is missing.
  19. QUOTE (TaylorStSox @ Jan 16, 2013 -> 09:32 PM) I don't buy it. How many gay players are there in the NFL right now? 25? How many gay players on ND? There's at least a few. They're all successfully hiding it. Why is this kid different? Did you even read my post?
  20. QUOTE (maggsmaggs @ Jan 16, 2013 -> 09:29 PM) http://www.thebiglead.com/index.php/2013/0...o-have-met-her/ DA FUQ??? Something is wrong here. None of the plausible explanations make sense.
  21. You can fix anything with a tear filled press conference and talking about how being a gay football player at a catholic school scared you into doing something that you could have never imagined. And you are so sorry for everything, but you just didnt know what to do, and unless you are a (fill in blank) you dont understand how hard it is. That being said, when I read his quotes from before there is something more here. It cant just be a cover up of being gay, something had to have happened at that time to all of a sudden kill her off. I mean some of these quotes go out of their way to talk about her. If that is just for self-promotion, hes a sociopath. And the problem with me believing that, is basically every other story about him being a good person is has been true. I really am kind of perplexed.
  22. Killing her at the same time as his grandma may have been smart, you can use the actual sadness of your grandma and since she really died no one is going to press a lot of questions. It just makes no sense to create the huge back story, when its far simpler to just say nothing. He could have just lied to his parents.
  23. The real part I dont understand is if this was just a coverup, why even make it national news to start with? Most of the time a college player's girlfriend isn't reported news.
  24. Many people who lie and create false stories dont always necessarily think what they are doing. He could have just become overwhelmed with the death of his grandma (that is true) and just went off the deep end. Someone is going to find his friend soon and then well know.
  25. QUOTE (G&T @ Jan 16, 2013 -> 09:00 PM) He made it spiral out of control. He could have fake broke up with her before she had fake cancer and fake died. When did he realize he was too deep? Who allowed him to go in the direction he did with the story? Possibly less questions if someone is gone (mom cant call her up and ask why she broke son's heart). Might have also thought that if he did it at the same time as his grandma that it would draw less attention and then be over with? Pretty odd no matter what the story is.
