  1. Id be really happy with a Hannah's Bretzel. I wish theyd put it where the Halsted Deli was. Right now my main locations are Chipotle, I Dream of Falafel and Epic Burger. I used to go to Venice a ton, but burned out on it. Maybe Ill get a calzone next week.
  2. Part of my family is in the diamond game so Ive seen a lot of different ones. My personal favorite is emerald cut, but that is because its old school and you see it on a lot of the really nice rings. Princess or radiant are both good, I think princess is slightly more flashy. What setting? I dont like gold at all, so id only look at white gold or platinum. Obviously that is up to your lady. Besides for the "go to people you trust", I know that you are a good negotiator etc and understand the game. I really have never heard of many stories about women not liking their ring. Most legitimate places are not going to set you up with some sort of garish ruby, aquamarine, emerald with diamond design. id say keep it simple, single diamond, with either a solid band or band with small diamonds. I really think its impossible to go wrong if you keep it simple and dont do anything to unique/crazy.
  3. Everyone (besides me) loves it. To be fair I only tried it once, had the buffalo chicken, just wasnt my thing.
  4. Its called "Protein Bar". There are a few in Chicago, most recent one opened on Clinton Street. I know Rock is in the West Loop, so I was wondering if he had been to that one. I didnt realize it was in the FFC.
  5. To bad Im a renter because I cant decide where in Chicago I want to live. I prefer North Side, my friends are all moving to 6 corners area. And if they bring in new stores, I would like that. Just unfortunately Im imagining more wrigleyville trash. Which is just higher prices at crappy bars with poor service.
  6. Make them follow me. Ill teach them whats what.
  7. I assume youve been hitting up the new one on Clinton?
  8. I think a hotel can work, I just think they would be smart to attach something to the hotel that would also be a draw. Maybe a cubs museum or something stupid. I guess it also depends on how big of a hotel we are talking about. Right now the Cubs own maybe half a block with that McDonalds purchase. They would have to build a parking structure, thats just a lot of space in that area. I actually dont care, I just want the Cubs to somehow have to do something that benefits me, so that is why I keep pushing for a new concert venue etc. The Cubs are always going to me annoy me as traffic is terrible on weekday games.
  9. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Jan 22, 2013 -> 08:28 PM) MSU is flat out grinding out ugly wins. Wisconsin missed 10 free throws. And they shot like 31% at home. That just is nonsense.
  10. Wisconsin gave a game to MSU, cant believe that happened.
  11. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jan 22, 2013 -> 03:05 PM) If you were going to a show at the Metro, it might be appealing. One hotel will make enough off baseball season to keep it profitable for the year I would imagine. But I agree, I don't see a big demand to stay in Wrigleyville during baseball's offseason. It's a nice neighborhood, but not a neighborhood that even crosses the typical traveler's mind to visit in the winter, and a boutique Sheraton hotel probably wouldn't change that. Well that area can get better. If they started actually doing things like having shows at the Riv/Metro/Aragon, etc. I just live there and its garbage most weeknights and weekends. Ive walked my family through the area on Mothers Day, its nice for about 20 minutes and then nothing more to see. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Jan 22, 2013 -> 03:10 PM) Totally disagree. Its one of the top destinations for tourists to go to in all seasons, yet isnt nearly as reachable since most of them stay in River North. Add 1-2 serious hotels in that area and it will be even busier. There is alot more in wrigleyville/lakeview than college-type bars. And I disagree. I live in the area. When people come and visit I never take them to Wrigley. Maybe Ill walk past it on Sheffield when going to the Addison Red Line, so that they can look in through the opening on the fence. But otherwise, what exactly am I doing in Wrigleyville? Dueling piano's at sluggers? That just reminds me of Sluggers in Vernon Hills or the dueling Piano's at Howl. Maybe its Cubby Bear, wait once again there is a Cubby Bear in Lincolnshire, not exactly unique. Unless its $20 all you can drink at Redmonds and then karaokee at full shilling, that area does nothing for me. Although on Halloween I did see an amazing fight on the street while I was eating at Pick Me Up Cafe. This guy just started punching a girl in the face (King Hippo Mike Tyson style), then some other guy threw him in the street where he was hit by a car. The fight ended when Blade (bouncer for the Mexican Dance Club) came out and split it up. (Edit) And Carol's is fun, but it gets strange. Real strange. Which of course is why I like it.
  12. Id say draft a TE. There are going to be 2 pretty high ranked ones (Ertz (stanford) and Eifert (ND)), but there should be some good talent in every round there.
  13. There are a few people who would want to be there, but Wrigleyville isnt really any sort of tourist destination. Its basically a s***ty version of State Street or any other college campus main drinking area. The problem is that there is a busy season (summer) when no one cares about traveling from downtown to see the Cubs and then there is a slow season (winter) when no one cares about staying close to the field. The hotel itself would have to be unique, maybe a concert venue, indoor water park, something that would draw people besides the Cubs. Because otherwise no one is staying in Wrigleyville to visit Chicago. There just isnt a large enough entertainment district there, college bars are not a travel destination.

QUOTE (PlaySumFnJurny @ Jan 22, 2013 -> 11:12 AM) I thought it was ok. It was certainly gory for network TV. Here's one "nitpick": Them not turing on the lights for like 5 minutes after they went to the female doctor's neighbors was just ridiculous. Most horror film/tv have a few moments where you have to suspend reality. I think the show did a pretty good job of minimizing those or creating plausible explanations for why it wasnt so unbelievable.
  15. Early reports are that it was a gun fight between 2 students with 2 other students being caught in crossfire.
  16. I dont know how well a hotel would work there. That area is really not family friendly, and I dont know how many 20-30 year olds are coming from out of town to pack a hotel. There were a few hotels in that area (They are on Sheffield) but they are all entirely run down and/or apartments. I live pretty close to Wrigley and I cant imagine wanting to stay there if I was coming from O'Hare. Because the city does not have any east-west transportation, they would have to either take a cab part of the way, or take the fun blue line to Irving Park then Irving Park bus to Sheffield.
  17. Allegedly another school shooting is occurring at a Houston area college.
  18. I will say that I am glad at this point the Bulls did not trade for Howard.
  19. QUOTE (DukeNukeEm @ Jan 22, 2013 -> 09:08 AM) So they cannot honor the memory of someone who is still considered a hero because liberals dont like the timing? Who said they cant honor him? Just if you honor a Civil War Confederate Hero, expect that people are going to call you out on supporting someone who was a Civil War Confederate. Of course historically speaking its not even clear whether Jackson supported slavery. Both sides have a right to say what they want. No matter who stupid or ignorant it may be. That is the price of freedom.
  20. SGIV is supposed to be out next year as well. Im probably not getting a new phone for a few years, SGIII does everything I want really well. Turns out that even with a top end phone, I still mainly just use it for phone and music.
  21. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Jan 22, 2013 -> 10:48 AM) Offensively we should be really good. Defensively we replace the entire D Line with sophomores and juniors. It's the rest of the conference that just isnt improving next year. MSU is way down, Ill, Iowa, Purdue, who knows. Yeah outside of Wisconsin/OSU it doesnt look that pretty. But all the Big10 needs is 1 great team, and then everyone in the conference gets to think their awesome SEC style.
  22. My annoyance usually stems from it playing 6 rap songs, then 6 rock songs, it cant ever seem to just mix them.
  23. Not sure I agree with that. I thought OSU was supposed to be good? I know Wisconsin has a chance to be really good.
