QUOTE (HickoryHuskers @ Oct 14, 2012 -> 12:30 PM) He was leading with his helmet, that's why he got the flag. He just happened not to make contact with his helmet, which is nearly impossible to tell live at full speed. No he led with his shoulder. And you still havent explained the Bush replay complaint. NCAA didnt even start using replay until 2006 and you cant use replay to call a penalty. (Maybe to many men on the field) ND got a gift, not sure why you cant accept that. -

QUOTE (HickoryHuskers @ Oct 14, 2012 -> 12:27 PM) You're right, it's not comparable. The video evidence is 100% conclusive that Bush was pushed. The video evidence isn't 100% that the player wasn't down before crossing the line. You cant call a penalty on replay, if they even had replay in 2005. Do you even understand the rules? -

QUOTE (HickoryHuskers @ Oct 14, 2012 -> 12:23 PM) Easy to make up a story from 20+ years ago. You mean like your story about Soxtalk posters when you werent even here in 2005? Because I was and people said the call was bad. /shrugs Care to actually defend the game last night, or do you want to discuss a call that occurred in 1960? -

It didnt matter if he got hit in the head, for it to have been a legitimate penalty the Stanford player would have had to lead with his helmet. At full speed it was an easy call, but as soon as the ND qb was rolling on the ground the flag came. When that call was made it seemed clear the refs were going to job Stanford. -

QUOTE (HickoryHuskers @ Oct 14, 2012 -> 12:16 PM) Because you're pretty predictable. The refs could make any number of bad calls AGAINST ND and you'd never say a damn thing. All you ND haters are a bunch of f***ing hypocrites. Yep like when I went insane over the phantom block in the back call when the Rocket returned the TD against Colorado. Care to generalize more, or do you just want to massacre your credibility? If you are wondering, that was a long time before 2005. -

Zoom, Didnt you know that if you dive head first the defense has to avoid you because they cant hit you in the head. -

QUOTE (HickoryHuskers @ Oct 14, 2012 -> 11:56 AM) You can't see both of the runners knees to know for sure that he wasn't down before crossing the goal line, and the last time I checked, hitting somebody in the head is a personal foul. And validly pointing out the officiating now but not doing so after the USC game in 2005 is hypocrisy. You werent even on this board in 2005, how do you know what any of us said? I dont like bulls*** games, whether its USC winning or ND. Yesterday was a joke and basically every non-biased viewer is agreeing. From the whiners at ESPN: http://scores.espn.go.com/ncf/recap?gameId=322870087 Your team won because Stanford had to play against ND and the refs. If you want to deny that, so be it. But what happened in 2007 is irrelevant. -

QUOTE (HickoryHuskers @ Oct 13, 2012 -> 08:56 PM) Not being able to get half a yard in three plays is a joke, and pointing things out about the refs is for losers. And Stanford got half a yard, the refs just jobbed them and made up a new rule that if you fumble into the end zone the game is over. Because there were only 2 things that could have been called on the replay: 1) TD or 2) fumble with recovery by Stanford for td. I like how validly pointing out the refs blew the game is whining. Thats not even getting into the nonsense personal foul for hitting a Notre Dame player too hard. -

Maybe Matt Canada is finally finding his groove, because that drive was different than anything Ive seen before. -
Im really concerned about Romney's tax ideas to be honest. What is kind of being hidden in there are the "small businesses" that are nothing more than Family LLC's for rich people that are used as a way to not pay taxes. The only deduction that I can think of that you can remove without it involving more funny accounting is the standard deduction and that is the deduction what most lower income people use. Almost no high earners take the standard deduction. Its really hard to tell though without a specific plan.

I like cartoons, Survivor and X Factor. Arguably the 2 of most intelligent shows on tv, Simpsons and South Park, are cartoons. I also watch way more NCAA than NBA. This proves once again that I am neither a Republican nor Democrat, but instead a Demolican.

I dont like either party so Im not sure where I fit in.

QUOTE (mr_genius @ Oct 12, 2012 -> 01:31 PM) actually, it is. you can't even name 1 thing the GOP has done that you agree with. time to re-evaluate. perhaps you are part of the problem. I agree with Abraham Lincoln. Kabooooom!

QUOTE (Y2HH @ Oct 12, 2012 -> 11:26 AM) Bush inherited a .com bust, which was historic in nature, too. Which is why economic debates are so hilarious. Clinton happened to be president during a tech boom so he is a brilliant man. If tomorrow I invented a new fuel that replaced oil and every other country started using it, the President would be considered an economic genius. Which is really why social issues, human rights, etc are the most important. Economics is far more unpredictable and I really believe the times make the man in that regard.

QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Oct 12, 2012 -> 11:22 AM) Somalia or other humanitarian causes were the context for that one. Since when is combating piracy not part of the US national interest. It may have been one of the stupidest statements I have ever heard in my life. I can literally argue that everything that has ever happened or will happen is part of the US national interest.
-
I just want to know what war Ryan thought wasnt part of the US national interest. Because he kept adamantly stating that he wouldnt do it, so I just wonder what historical war he was referencing.
-
QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Oct 12, 2012 -> 11:10 AM) That comparison doesn't make sense. We didn't invade Libya with ground forces and then set up shop there. Exactly. That is the difference between Obama and Bush.
-
QUOTE (Y2HH @ Oct 12, 2012 -> 11:03 AM) The problem with that is Obama continued those same policies, wars, extended the Bush tax cuts, added more tax cuts on top of them, and...well...there we have it. You cant really compare a war that Obama inherited. The right comparison would be between Bush/Iraq and Obama/Libya.
-
QUOTE (mr_genius @ Oct 12, 2012 -> 11:00 AM) it really is a problem in the GOP. they walk blindly into these situations where they have been completely set up. they need to be more aware. the moderator of the last debate was unacceptable and should have been replaced. Whether you think she was fair or not, its pretty silly to complain after the fact. Its not like this is reality tv and the moderator is a surprise. Although that would be much more fun.
-
QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Oct 12, 2012 -> 10:53 AM) More fuel! http://www.weeklystandard.com/blogs/raddat...rch_654296.html So what youre saying is that the Republican party is so negligent that they didnt even vet the moderator, and this is the party you want in power? Anything can be spun into gold.
-
QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Oct 12, 2012 -> 10:41 AM) And really, even if the pomp and circumstance is bulls***, it's still not a smart thing to do because the majority of the country votes on who they like more, not what they actually stand for. So it was dumb of Biden to act like that, and it's being shown in the debate polls that he wasn't very relate-able/like-able. I think people like heart over head in a debate, which is why Romney/Biden looked better than Obama/Ryan. But passion is a tricky b****.

QUOTE (Y2HH @ Oct 12, 2012 -> 10:41 AM) I think in many ways, we already are. Pretty much everything we do is more efficient and cleaner than it's ever been before, but we aren't even making a dent. This is a simplified solution (discussion) to a complex problem...this isn't a USA issue, it's a world issue. And unless until you can get EVERYONE on board, it doesn't matter if you cut emissions and North Korea cranks out 50x more, nullifying advances we would make. Everyone has to do this together. It doesnt matter that the US isnt making a dent today, you dont give up just because you cant immediately fix a problem. And I completely understand that if everyone else is polluting that the US changing wont really mean much, but that isnt the point. The point is that before I can fix the problems of the world, I need to fix the problems in my little plot of land. And if I cant even get agreement on a simple issue such as "we shouldnt destroy our own plot of land", how can I convince the world they shouldnt destroy their plot of land. Just more blame game.
-
QUOTE (mr_genius @ Oct 12, 2012 -> 10:29 AM) All of which were Bush's fault Instead of arguing about who may be at fault, why dont we talk about solutions. Whether or not global warming is real or a myth, cant we all agree that it would make sense from a risk standpoint to do our best to take preventive measures regardless? Why does it always have to be arguing about who did what or who is to blame. I dont believe that has ever solved a problem, unless the problem was figuring out who was to blame.

Maybe the saddest part is that some people actually think any of this dog and pony show matters when it comes to the economy. Obama is going to screw people for his rich friends. Romney is going to screw people for his rich friends. You dont raise $1bil without having to pay back a lot of favors. That being said, the areas that do matter, social, most people are not going to change their mind.
