  1. Buzz Williams is way better than Smart. Im not a huge Smart fan though, havoc is great against mid-majors and for 1 and done tournament situations, dont think its going to win out over a Big 10 conference season though.
  2. I agree that it should not be at all about the money, which is why if Im Illinois Im aiming higher than Smart. The only reason Illinois would have any issues is that their football team may not be as profitable as other Big 10 schools and therefore they need to use more of the basketball revenues to pay off the other sports expenses. The reason I say this is because of a 2011 article about Big 10 v SEC in terms of profitability. http://www.kristidosh.com/wp-content/uploa...ancial-Data.pdf http://www.forbes.com/sites/sportsmoney/20...ports-revenues/ Based on their numbers Illinois Athletic Department made $1.3 mil, which is 3rd lowest. If Illinois wants to use athletic budget to pay for the new coach, they likely have about 1-2 mil to add to Weber's salary
  3. Of course he is, by the end of it all he may be in the running for the #2 pick.
  4. Jenks, See my post below but Illinois is 13th most valuable and 4th in the Big 10 (which makes no sense as MSU is 5th), , but Illinois according to Forbes is not top 10. QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Mar 12, 2012 -> 11:02 PM) Forbes has Illinois as 13, behind Wisconsin, OSU and Indiana, somehow ahead of MSU. That being said Illinois has a very good history. The problem is that I dont believe anyone can say Illinois is in the top 5 in the last 10 years and that would be when the current class was 6 on. http://www.forbes.com/sites/chrissmith/201...valuable-teams/ 13. Illinois Fighting Illini Current Value: $15.8 million Two-Year Change in Value: -24% Basketball Profit: $9.8 million Conference: Big Ten Head Coach: Bruce Weber Illinois failed to qualify for a tournament berth this year, and the team hasn't had much luck in March since losing the NCAA Championship Game to North Carolina in 2005. That year's success will no longer count towards future conference payouts, which means that the Fighting Illini may slide in value again next year. (edit) Just to be clear I think that Forbes methodology is terrible and it really doesnt show the value of the team, more shows profitability in a given season.
  5. Pat Brady, Illinois Republican Party Chairman, just said that Pac money is terrible and that the Supreme Court made a poor ruling.
  6. I think Weber would be smart to go back to SIU for a while. Hes got Illinois connections, hell get players who will buy into his system and then a few years from now he can get another shot at a high major if he wants it. Unless another big program has a job opening, he could do a lot worse.
  7. 2 of 4 is definitely a possibility (OSU and MSU). I have OSU playing Wisconsin in the Elite 8, just not a huge fan of Syracuse (especially without Melo).
  8. So Ive been reading about bad Mass Effect Endings, and Id just like to say that Final Fantasy XIII-2's ending was pretty annoying.

With regard to Awake, I like the idea, but Im not sure I can keep believing the "Im not sure what reality is real." To me it seems like the wife is real and the son is fake. Why? His son just happens to get kidnapped around the time of the anniversary of his death (loss of his son) and it just happens to center around something that happened in the past that the main character may have felt guilty about. I dont know, its just somewhat unfeasible that nothing would happen in either dream that would be a suspension of reality. Or at least have something happen in both worlds to suggest its not real. Otherwise we are going down another alternative reality show, which will really be annoying because the show is going to such great lengths to say thats not what is happening.

Jenks, The point is, that without these people acting stupid, there would be almost 0 plot lines involving zombie attacks. Who would watch a show that entails a group of survivors, building an impenetrable fort and then not making mistakes. How many episodes would you watch? Characters have to act stupid, that is what puts them in close proximity to zombies. For the most part these are the reasons Im not a huge zombie movie fan. But one of my roommates loved zombie films, so Ive seen a lot of them. At a certain point you just have to get passed the idiocy, because its what drives the show. Basically after the first wave and surprise, there really is no excuse to get killed by a zombie. They are slow, cant use machines and have 0 intelligence. They cant even use rudimentary tools, there is just no way a zombie should get a human, unless the human is so stupid/inept/naive that they continually put themselves in harms way. Which is why zombie movies/shows are fun. Because its watching a train wreck, over and over again. Once in a while there will be a smart person in a zombie film/show, but undoubtedly they will die to do the stupidity of another character.

You cant have zombie movies if the main characters are smart. The simple answer is that zombies dont have brains, thus even the simplest human should be able to create a fortification to stop zombies. I mean even the simplest human would have built a moat, trench, etc. You know simple techniques that were developed to stop walking armies. Let alone more advanced techniques like putting flameable material in a trench so when a large swarm of zombies came they would fall in trench and then be lit on fire. That doesnt even get into the parts about hoarding important supplies, etc. But if you have smart humans, you dont have a zombie film. Its why Carl always runs off. At a certain point you cant write that the main adult characters are acting stupid and naive.
  13. The Manning's want to own the NFL. Eli v. Peyton in the Super Bowl is the only thing that has alluded them. If he goes NFC they have to eliminate each other and its more likely they play etc. There is a reason why only 1 team in the NFC went after Manning, and its because the rest of the NFC knew that Manning was going AFC. I thought it was a joke about the 49ers at first, then as the conspiracy theorist I am, I started to tell people that Manning was playing the 49ers in an attempt to hurt their chances to beat Eli's Giants.
  14. I was thinking that the other day, but it depends on Watson's health because I think Thibs likes John Lucas as the 3rd pg.
  15. Peyton was never going to play in the NFC and compete against Eli.
  16. Kaepernick is a huge project, from a mechanics point of view he was a complete tear down and he basically never took the snap under center in college (ran the Pistol). Now its possible Kaepernick has done this in 1 year, but Id say its highly unlikely given the state of his mechanics at the end of the 2010 season at Nevada. Since then I have seen him take 0 snaps, so its possible he has dramatically improved, but I would be furious if the Bears were considering him as a starter, as would any fan of any team with playoff aspirations.
  17. Kaepernick is a poor mans Tebow. Ill always love him for beating Boise State, but he wasnt half the QB Kellen Moore was, and Im not sure Kellen Moore is anything more than a back up. Id actually guess the 49ers draft a qb or trade for one if they want to win a Super Bowl.

Because (imo) thats not really relevant to Lori's state of mind. At first I thought Lori would be okay with it because Shane was forcing Rick's hand. But when I saw her reaction, I began to think she was feeling responsible for the whole debacle. Had she not pressed the issue with Shane and Rick, its likely that would not have been the result. But Lori had to keep messing with both of them. I think Lori was more on the fence about Rick/Shane, based on last night I almost wondered if she wanted Shane to kill Rick.

Lori's reaction does make sense. But not in the way people are thinking. Lori is upset because she didnt think Rick would really kill Shane. Lori kept running her mouth, she kept instigating the situation, because she thought she wanted there to be a resolution. She kept pushing Rick, but part of her never really believed hed actually do it. Now Shane is dead, and there is no going back. Its a classic emotional reaction, you always want what you cant have. So Lori flips out, because she just cant handle the truth that Shane is dead and she is partially responsible. As for running from walkers, it was night and there was a mass of them. With the fire/gunshots/etc its at least believable that if Rick and his kid were quiet that the Walkers attention would have been drawn elsewhere. This is actually a pretty consistent with most Zombie movies. Many times the crowd of Zombies will be distracted so that 1-2 people can get away.
  20. Just rewatched the game because I was out all yesterday and didnt really watch it as closely as I usually do. Overall I think Wisconsin deserved the win, last play could have been called a defensive foul, but there was a lot of contact the entire game and Im sure both sides will say some calls didnt go there way. Rock, Thanks and congrats, might see another OSU- Wisconsin match up.
  21. I only root for other big 10 teams because otherwise everyone hates on the Big 10.
  22. Rivers didnt get fouled. He knew the shot was off so on his way down he leans into the defender and falls on the ground. Thankfully karma was in the building and Lehigh was able to get a dunk
  23. Get ready for a riot when the refs give Duke this game.
  24. I really hate Bielen's system to be honest. Michigan shot 23 threes against a 13 seed. Thats just a recipe for boom or bust.
