  1. The reason that Carmelo gets questioned is because some believe he had as much raw talent as Kobe, he just seemingly cares more about making money, having a good time being in NY, than winning rings. Right or wrong, it has nothing to do with cornrows as he had those in college and still was considered a freak (most had him rated behind Lebron coming out that year).
  2. Felix, Haha no problem. I was a huge Melo fan back when he was at Syracuse.
  3. Carmelo went to Syracuse, and that is who I am talking about. Deng isnt a top 3 SF, and I obviously know he went to Duke.
  4. I really dont know when that happened, since I can remember him at Syracuse hes been considered an elite talent and outside of this thread I think most consider him a top 3 SF, and thats just because the other 2 are Durant and Lebron. Im pretty sure most would take Melo over any SF that isnt Lebron or Durant(unless your concerned about Melo's mentality.)
  5. Im not sure that Rose was a true scoring pg in college. Rose ran the dribble drive motion offense in college, which meant that any player who was on the ball would attempt to get to the rim or kick the ball out. So basically everyone on the team played a similar role (primary job was to try and score through the drive.) If you watched Memphis play (especially in the regular season), Chris Douglas Roberts was the #1 scoring option and Rose was more the facilitator (Rose had 189 assists compared to Roberts 71). People forget that even in the tournament Roberts shot more than Rose.
  6. I think the article on purposeful fouling could have basically been condensed to a few sentences. Basically Mark Jackson just needed to change his strategy, only foul Dwight purposefully when he gets the ball and would have a good chance to score. Dont purposefully foul just to do it, because over the long run you will likely lose if you foul every possession and the player shoots 60% from the line.
  7. Sounds like Colbert may try and get on the SC ticket.
  8. So lets see how this works. 4 spots- SEC gets 1, PAC gets 1, Big gets 1.... Everyone else gets 1? If people were complaining about lack of access to the BCS, just imagine how bad the complaining is going to be when the deal is that 3 of the 4 teams are guaranteed to be power conference champions. No way does the Pac/Big/SEC sign any deal where their conference is left out because their best team finishes 5th.
  9. Spunds like Leuer is doing decent for the Bucks. I always secretly hoped the Bulls would get him because Ive personally been a huge fan.
  10. I dont know what hes saying to be honest. Who cares what conference has the most "middle tier" teams? I dont think anyone disagrees that the West has more good to average teams.
  11. By your own definition: So if you were picking the Bulls/Heat no matter who is in from the West, doesnt that mean the rest of the NBA is extremely average to pathetic? And you are changing the parameters, now you are saying "quality of conference top to bottom" so that would include what bottom feeder is better than another bottom feeder. The original statement was "strength of conference" and there is definitely an argument that a conference with 2 excellent teams has more strength than a conference with a bunch of good teams. I dont think it matters, 2 weeks in Im pretty sure most people would say that theyd take whoever wins a Heat/Bulls series over the West (unless Howard or another big deal happens).
  12. Which teams from the West if moved to the East would you pick over the Heat or Bulls?
  13. J4L, There are different ways to define strength of conference. I dont really care whether the West or East is better, its pretty irrelevant as 82 (66 this season) gives basically every team a chance to play each other, thus you can base match ups on team v team, not on what ifs. That being said, I personally think that top is what defines a conference. I dont think it really matters what happened 4-5 years ago, Lebron/Wade/Bosh werent together then and the Bulls werent nearly as strong. What does this really matter, 8 teams make the playoffs, anyone thats remotely good has a chance to win.
  14. Well Wisconsin played different and won, not sure what will happen but winning that game was huge.
  15. Since when are taxes criminal? Adam Smith understood that taxes were necessary and I believe even suggested graduated taxes.
  16. You can argue its a good thing or bad thing, just depends on what side of the fence you want to sit on. I personally never felt Wade/Lebron was a good combo, so I hope that Im proven right over time.
  17. Wilson has Drew Brees syndrome (under 6 feet) and I agree that he could go earlier. I just think that the Bears arent going to take a back up QB earlier than 5, so if he goes before than it likely will be to another team. Tice's kid plays for Wisconsin though, so its possible he may put in some good words to the GM, because (imo) a back up QB who has mobility and wont kill you is a great thing to have.
  18. I agree with that. Although I think Lebron was more that way in Cleveland. Once he got to Miami it became more difficult because, in my opinion, Lebron started to think to much instead of just playing. Hes worried about getting Wade the ball or Bosh, instead of just being the man and to hell with everyone else. Who knows.
  19. MJ played in a different time where zones were not allowed and thus you could iso-post on a side of a floor much easier. Furthermore Jordan's back to the basket game was mainly his fade away jump shot, which are the same type of shots Lebron is getting on a consistent basis. I dont think anyone here is saying that Lebron is not getting enough fade aways and furthermore Jordan was playing the 2 so he was guarded by a different type of player than Lebron who plays the 3. Mexsoxfan, Thats exactly what the defense wants, Ill take Anthony trying to dribble and finish every day as composed to Lebron getting an easy lay up. Littlehurt, As for Wade/LBJ, Wade (imo) has been the worst influence on Lebron. Its so telling that Rose dresses even when he doesnt play, as compared to Wade wearing his 50 year old man suits on the bench not even caring about whether he plays.
  20. Did they put up Tim Tebow and Neil Patrick Harris? Thats what I want to see.
  21. Part of Lebron's post game problem comes from the Heat's lack of C who can really hit a jump shot. As soon as Lebron gets below the free throw line its almost an immediate double team from the big who isnt guarding Bosh. If Miami could run the swing offense and have a big man who could threaten from around the arc area, it would be pretty difficult to beat. As of now though you just simply double Lebron and let the other non-Bosh big try and beat you.
  22. Russel Wilson wont be going back to the Rockies, not sure where hell get drafted but if its 5th or later wouldnt mind the Bears taking a risk on him as 3rd string and hopefully eventual back up QB (he could be better than that, but at worst hes a massive upgrade from anything the Bears have.)
  23. Not really about winning or losing, more about timing of everything. I watched all of the MJ dynasty games, after that I kind of lost interest in the NBA, especially after watching the Blazer/Lakers series and subsequent Kings/Lakers series. Also the Bulls kept getting players that I really disliked, never seeming to draft the player or sign the guy that I wanted. Im watching a lot more games, but I watch every minute of everys Bears game, every Badger basketball and football game, so the Bulls just arent there in comparison. Sox are a different type of thing because when I was little the Sox were by far my #1 team.
