People are saying that De Aza was called up because this trade is done. If the Sox were going to call up anyone it would be a pen arm for 1 day and then send him down to bring up De Aza. The Sox arent trading any OF's there is absolutely no need to call up De Aza if its for this deal. It would be an arm that would be most important.

Frasor wouldnt be playing today, meaning if this deal was done Sox probably would have wanted to call up an emergency pitcher. Its not a necessity because Jackson is a starter but they already have Humber in the pen and he isnt being used so if they dont call up a reliever and dont have Frasor they are really thin today. If they were so sure this deal was done, theyd have called up a reliever for 1 day to just send down the next.

Unless its taking something like Lawrie + Jackson to get Rasmus, and then it just was an impossibility for the Sox.

Or it could be another trade because technically this trade opens up 2 spots. There could be another deal that opens 1 spot, or they could be DLing Lilli. Its all speculation.

Im pretty sure that saving $2.5 mil this year and $6mil next year arent really huge concerns when the Sox dont have to bring back MB/Jackson, can trade Danks, Floyd, etc. So it cant just be about dumping Teahen because there are ways to slash your payroll and get talent back, which is a far better investment than just dumping money with your better players. Just an odd deal for both teams if it happens. Its not like the Blue Jays are rich enough to start absorbing contracts.

Steve, It doesnt make sense for Toronto, which is why it makes more sense that this leak is nothing but a desperate try for KW to increase the market for Jackson. I have yet to see any angle where this trade makes sense for the Blue Jays. They take on salary, the best piece they obtain is a FA and has Boras as an agent, they really have no chance at the Wild Card or Division. Its not even like Frasoer makes a lot of money so they are trying to offset costs. The only argument has been that the Blue Jays are going to then trade Jackson for something, but youd think the Sox would just cut out the middle man.

If I had a dollar for every trade rumor that was reported close, I wouldnt have had to work today. I have no idea why Toronto would do this trade, so im still skeptical at best.

0 time, as J4L said it makes no sense for either team. The only way Id believe it is if KW was the Blue Jays GM and was giving up a good/great prospect along with Frasor to try and "win now". Since that has never been the mentality of the Blue Jays I cant possibly see them deciding that they are going to invest all of that money. The only other reason to add Jackson would be to then move him, but under what circumstances would the Sox not want the young players. It just is seemingly odd. and Id be pretty shocked if I wake up to this deal being a reality.

IF KW had 50% of the Soxtalk posters as his manager instead of Ozzie they are probably a half dozen games above 500. The biggest problem of Kenny being GM is that he doesnt have full authority over Ozzie.

Well Im not seeing anyone else even mentioning a rumor like this, so if the trade is leaking youd think someone else would be reporting. Itll be midnight soon and the Sox have a game in the afternoon, just doesnt seem likely that this isnt being reported yet if its done.

Forget the Sox side of the deal, this makes no sense for the Blue Jays. My guess is that some one played a joke on bucket of suck, or this will go down as one of the most odd trades ever (unless Blue Jays are moving Jackson for a cheap good player, in which case why wouldnt the Sox just get that player?).

Why would Toronto want Jackson unless this a 3 way deal where they are moving Jackson, and then why dont the Sox just move him? Is a team 11 games back really adding a rental?

Sox can win the division regardless of what any other team does. They have the best staff in the division by far. If they had a semi-competent manager this race may not even be close. Its just pathetic what Ozzie is doing.

The only thing this game would convince me to sell is Ozzie for whatever I could get. With even decent managing this game is 4-1 or 4-2 Sox win. Just arent going to get very far with Ozzie as the manager.

Its just bad pitching. Hes ahead in the count with a base open. Betimet is not exactly the most patient hitter and is basically swinging at everything. No reason to throw him anything thats good.

I dont love this match up as Crains been high in the zone so far.

This is why the 6 man rotation hurts, you just dont have the pen depth of another team.

Tolzien could be a good back up. Smart guy who is pretty accurate and wont generally kill you with mistakes. Brooks Bollinger and Sorgi made it in the NFL, so there should be a place for Tolzien.
