Rios saw a bunch of pitches his last at bat. You guys are going to hate on him no matter what. He saw a fastball, he tried to hit it. Just not his year.
-
At minimum there should be pitchers warming in the pen to start the 6th. You could potentially pull Peavy here and its an okay move as well. Hes completely missing with his fastball.

Need 1 more inning for Jake, then turn it to the pen

John Clay was a good risk for the Steelers, if he can get in shape, he could actually play in the NFL. -
Its a horrible move because the Sox have to pay Rios full salary and get 0 return on it. Its a better payoff to have him as an of sub and at least get something back, or what the Sox will do, hope he turns it around.
-
lol I meant Morel, cant keep my 3b straight haha
-
Rios isnt going anywhere unless he puts up a 1.000 ops the 2nd half and then gets traded. No way are the Sox just going to give up on him.
-
Maybe some one like Morel (haha accidentally said Fields) is being traded and Lilli/Vizquel already are if subs so the Sox need an of sub. I cant imagine Carlos is being traded and is playing tonight.

I seriously hope the post above is sarcasm.

This is completely off topic, but I saw a guy in a Club Tril t-shirt yesterday and I just assumed it was Rock. -
You dont know that, your statement is false monocled eye baby.

Im not even sure communist philosophy would support this type of program. From each according to his ability, to each according to his need. The essence of Communism would suggest that the mother should work to the best of her ability if she can. Communism really doesnt give the workers a choice of not working. (edit) Of course I havent looked at this option, I dont have a family and hopefully I never will qualify for govt assistance. This isnt about being poor sucking, this is about whether or not we should let people choose to not seek employment and still retain benefits. I dont care about giving a person benefits if they are actually looking for a job and want to help themselves. I have a problem if they dont have to do anything. Its not really that difficult to see where the problem lies.

I think Jenks has a point which some people are trying to gloss over. Everyone would love to stay at home and raise their family, who really prefers to work. The only reason I work is that they pay me to do it, if I could get paid to sit at home, I would. The question is, why should the govt pay for people who choose not to work at the expense of the rest of us who choose to work? Its a fundamentally sound question.

This is a tough one. Do we force an innocent child to suffer because the parents are lazy? I dont know. Id rather that parents be responsible and have children when they can afford them, but thats like asking people to be responsible when they buy a new tv, house or whatever. It may suck to help others (who wouldnt want the money for themselves), but I wouldnt trade my life for theirs, so I roll with the punches. Not a great answer, but a practical one.

Im not sure 3 innings is close to 6 innings, but I understand why people want Sale to have a shot at starting. Based on the way the Sox have gone about it, I just dont necessarily see it happening. Durability/arm were concerns when he was drafted. If the guy is an elite reliever for 10 years, I really wont second guess anything. Either way I think youd need about a year to get him ready for MLB starting (off season to work on strength, then hed need time in AAA)
-
I disagree with most peoples opinion on this board regarding Sale. If you get a dynamite left handed set up man, who can throw 1-2 innings in the first round, you did your job. So many 1st round picks never even make the majors, let alone have any impact. Im pretty sure if the Sox put Sale on the market hed command more than a middle to late first round draft pick. Sale could close, but Sergio is doing fine and Sale can throw more innings out of the set up role than he would as closer. You could potentially get 80-100 ip from Sale, where as closers usually are under 50.
-
Unless the Sox are rebuilding, Sale will be in the pen. Even if MB and Jackson leave, I still think the Sox are more likely to try and find a diamond in the rough FA pitcher as the 5 and keep sale in the MR role.

Id be fine taking Roy Williams the WR. He just never will be the Roy Williams, that will always be the one who played for Oklahoma and was supposed to redefine the Safety position. -
Sale has been in Thorntons role the last few days. If the Sox wanted a third lefty (they have Sale/Ohman) Santiago was decent. It wouldnt be giving up at all, it would be trading a depreciating asset while it still has value.
-
Moving a 35 year old MR with 2 more years on his contract (I think) is not a big move.
-
If I had to bet Id say the Sox arent getting him. If the Sox make any moves it would be small ones (ie thornton).

Roy Williams unfortunately never became the player people thought he would. -
Id rather have Jackson out there than any of the Yankees starters not named CC. Garcia has been a big game pitcher, Im just not sure how well hell be doing at 200 ip over a season.
-
Jackson would arguably be a 2/3 on the Yankees. Would you really start Freddy and Colon if you think you are a World Series contender? I know they have been good this year, just seems like a wreck waiting to happen.
