Im not going to write a list of people who on this board, on the radio, websites, twitter, facebook etc have suggested Kopech, Eloy and other prospects be called up this year. But again you said I took peoples quotes out of context. Which quote did I take out of context? Because that is what you said.

The justification to not call up Eloy is to get 1 more year of control when the Sox are good as compared to losing 1 year of control when the Sox are bad.

All this rebuild is proving is that many Sox fans actually werent ready to really buy into a full rebuild. Its been less than 2 seasons and people already want prospects called up for instant gratification.

Bryant's agent is Boras. Even if they had called him up on the first day he was drafted Boras wasnt going to let him sign a team friendly deal. But by playing the game, the Cubs get to keep him until hes 30.

Kris Bryant had some pretty good minor league stats (.325/.438 /.661/1.098) and the Cubs kept him down until the following year to gain 1 extra year of control. That seemed to really hurt his development as a player.

Expect the worst, hope for the best. I think the most interesting part of Ptatc's statement was the theory that Burger was not using his walking boot. Which means that this injury was basically self inflicted. Im not a dr, but I presume ptatc's conclusion is based on the fact that the boot should stabilize the area and basically make it impossible to re-tear.

That is exactly what Im saying, they shouldnt be calling him up to troll the Cubs. They should be calling him up because they think he is ready for the majors. (edit) And if hes not ready, thats fine too. There is 0 point in rushing guys when the Sox are going to be terrible this year.

If the Sox call him up this year, they have done a complete disservice to their rebuild. 1 year of control is extremely valuable. Next year in May is the earliest he should be brought up. Most likely hell spend a good amount of time in AA this year, perhaps move up to AAA. Next year start him in AAA and then move him to MLB if he is ready. There are a few other prospects on the same trajectory, so it makes no sense to burn a year for a few weeks. What exactly is going to be gained?

If the Sox are smart the earliest they will bring up Jimenez is next year during the season when they get 1 extra year of control. Really cant imagine any other scenario.

Yeah that complicates things. If he trusts you then you need to tell him how you really feel, but at the same time understand if he comes to a different conclusion. That being said, if she is unwilling to cut off communication with an ex when she has 2 kids and it seems like its potentially causing a rift in their marriage, it doesnt seem like its going down a good path.

Without more specifics about the nature of the affair, hard to really speculate. If you think that its irreparable then I think you need to make that clear. You didnt mention kids or anything, so that would make it less complicated if they cut ties. I would definitely say its troubling that she wont cut contact, and it makes me feel like she is not 100% committed to the relationship. I guess since I dont really know them or anything about them, harder to put it in context. If they are 21 its a lot different than if they are 35. What is the other guys status (single/married). Its a tough position because you have to be there for your friend. And sometimes friends make bad decisions when it comes to their partners. But if HE believes its really worth it, I think you have to at least try and help him. But I dont think its out of line for you to tell him what you really believe so he has all the information to make the best decision for himself.

Tex, As im sure youre aware that is why some European countries have a Prime Minister and President, so that one can just be a cheerleader. The problem with Trump the cheerleader, is he is making the crowd cheer against his own team. Not sure how effective cheerleaders would be if they spent 99% of the game telling the crowd how terrible the current team, that they should arrest the former coach and that the golden age was back when only white men could play.

Im not going to go policy by policy, but Im pretty sure prior to Trump you did not hear a lot of Republicans attacking the FBI/DOJ, nor were they anti-free trade. NAFTA was signed by more Republicans than Democrats. I could go on, but its just not true to say his policies are generally consistent with previous Republican ideals. I think the problem is that people view other people through their own lens. While there is a small percentage of people who want "socioeconomic inequality" they are not the vast majority of either base. I think that a lot of people are struggling and they dont see a path to a society where everyone can be guaranteed a basic quality of life. They are told by a very small minority how bad that is and due to a variety of reasons, they listen to that minority. But the richest of the rich, have nothing in common with most of us. They are the ones who have the money to sway policy. And they are the ones who go laughing to the bank as they pit the rest of us against each other.
