www.tnawrestling.com haha aj is funny. saying that the cardinals are lucky to make it to the playoffs, its kind of true. 83 wins?!? While we win 90 and don't make it! haha good stuff. This is a match of what could have been Cardinals vs White Sox in the World Series.

QUOTE(Texsox @ Dec 11, 2006 -> 10:33 PM) Ahh, the Halcion® days when we thought we had a rotation to rival the Braves of the 1990s. Mark, Freddy, Jon, Jose, and ol' what's his name were going to be around for years and years making us a perennial WS favorite. Best of luck to you Freddy. I bet you will be back. If Buerhle goes to St. Louis or wherever else. I actually wouldn't be surprised if KW made a pitch to try to get him back next offseason. And why not?!? He's a proven winner.

Now that many of the 2005 staff is gone..
GreatScott82 replied to TheChrisSamsa's topic in Pale Hose Talk
my avatar says it all. That El-duque performance was simply magic. -
Ozzie Guillen was Zambrano's idle growing up in Venezuala. Since it seems like they are saving there pennies this offseason, maybe they can attempt to bring Zambrano across town?!? And if they re-sign Buerhle our rotation would be awesome! Where would the money come from? Well from saving money this offseason AND not re-signing J. Dye and probably trading Vazquez during NEXT offseason. Buerhle, Zambrano, Garland, Contreras, McCarthy..... niiiicce! okay so it wont happen and there is a very good chance buerhle leaves! DAMN!

http://chicago.whitesox.mlb.com/NASApp/mlb...brick_paver.jsp Hmmm should be out by opening day 2008, does this mean they don't plan on winning it again in 2007?!? They better make room for another one. GO SOX!

Neh! I was impressed with what he did in 2003 and 2004 while he was with the A's and Red Sox, but with his current injury problems and his relationship with Sox management, i dont want him back. However, we do need one more veteran arm down there in the pen... whose out there?!?

Thoughts on Trading Garcia and Garland
GreatScott82 replied to shawnhillegas's topic in Pale Hose Talk
QUOTE(SEALgep @ Dec 9, 2006 -> 07:48 PM) Sign me up for Hirsch, later JG... I agree though, I'd prefer to develop good young pitching and spend on positions. im the opposite, i would rather spend the money on quaility pitching while develop the possition players. Pitching wins championships we saw that in 2005. However, it is important to plug in pitchers from your own system every now and then also. -
I would love to see KW quietly lock down Buerhle to a new 3 year deal this offseason. Other than that let Iguchi and Dye play the remaining year of their contract out. So i expect big years from both Gooch and Dye. I can see us re-sign Gooch in the offseason while i expect both Pods and Dye go. The window of oppurtunity is closing, 2007 is a big year white sox fans. With no garuntees of Buerhle, Dye or Gooch being back, the time is now to win it all again. I expect the 2008 OF to be Owens LF, Anderson CF and Sweeney RF. With a cheap young OF we can afford a steady solid rotation mixed with veterans and youth.

I remember heading home from the Sox-Cubs game in 2004 and hearing on the radio that we aqcuired Freddy Garcia, i was soooo damn excited!! And yes Freddy you lived up to your expectations, especially in 2005, no ring without you big guy!!! Good luck in Philly and you never know, maybe we will see you in the World Series in 2007?!?
-
sounds good. hopefully we can have a solid 1-2-3 punch in Thorton, Macdougal and Jenks for a long time. Now we need to figure out the bottom 3... i dunno about you guys but Aardsema, Floyd, and Haegar just isn't appealing to me. Lets at least get 1 more veteran for down there.
-
Reinsdorf is the best owner in town. I really hope they can re-sign Buerhle. The money will be there for him, its up to Mark to stay or go however. I'm guessing he will pitch the final year of his contract out here and hopefully we can win it all and he will find it in his heart to stay on the southside and not go to his childhood favorite team. If Pauly could stay, Jon G could stay, I think Mark could stay. I think Buerhle, Crede, Garland and Konerko are the faces of this organizition and KW knows how important it is to keep him. Remember when Boston offered Coco Crisp for him last year during the season? KW just laughed.... its obvious KW has a MUCH higher opinion of Buerhle than he did of Freddy.

Garcia to Philly for Gavin Floyd and Gio Gonzalez
GreatScott82 replied to BobDylan's topic in Pale Hose Talk
I sure hope McCarthy pitches a lot better as a starter than he did in the pen last year. And this trade better be the 1st of something bigger later. 7.24 ERA?!? If we do indeed manage to get a Baldelli i would feel better. But right now i am pretty pissed off. -

QUOTE(fathom @ Dec 7, 2006 -> 03:53 AM) Well, if Garcia was better, then maybe he would have brought us back better players? you are right 17 wins sucks ass esspecially in this inflated desperate for pitching market. gimme a break fathom. -

WHAT A f***IN rip off!!!!!! Pathetic. I hope you Garcia haters are happy now. -
lol say no to Bonds! he'll find a DH role somewhere, i thought Oakland woudl be a good fit for his cancererous attitude. However, Beane probably doesn't want to pay anyone that much money. Who knows where he'll play.

Rumor:Garcia to Philles for Arow + Madson/Floyd
GreatScott82 replied to joeynach's topic in Pale Hose Talk
QUOTE(kwolf68 @ Dec 6, 2006 -> 06:50 PM) I have no problem with going over Brian Anderson's head, but how much of an improvement is Rowand? I loved the guy, but his defense is no better and his bat is only marginally better. Further, Rowand has probably hit his peak while Anderson still hasn't (we hope) reached his ceiling. Anderson was ONE reason we dealt Rowand, we dealt Chris Young, because he was a 5-tool, can't miss prospect. He struggled last year, badly...he was brutally bad most of the season with the bat, but in the end THAT BAT was NOT WHY the Sox didn't make the playoffs. NO, the cause of our demise rests with a pitching staff that sucked most of the year. Anderson probably helped that staff by making excellent plays in the field. Again, I would like to deal a SP, but the only way we should go for a CF is if it is in the Vernon Wells category. Giving up too much for a player who is only slightly better than Anderson is foolish. The Phillies trade would not make it through my table unless a 2nd prospect was thrown into the mix (Michael Bourne). But for a couple of "fading prospects" like Madsden or Floyd and a marginal upgrade (if that) in CF over Anderson (who could actually IMPROVE before his 24th birthday) there would be no way they'd get any pitcher who dealt donuts in a clinching World Series game that is as durable as teflon, who may have found "that other" pitch late last year that will add many more great years to his career. The more I think about this deal, the crappier it gets. Tell Gillick to pizz off Kenny. Knowing KW, he may just go after a big fish after all. However, if there was one guy KW would overpay for it is Rowand, he carries sentimental value for this organization. Im a big fan of Rowand and all, but like you guys said we can do a whole lot better, and if KW can somehow bring Vernon Wells (a no miss CF gold glove capable outfielder) than i say go for it! But like i said before, its going take a crap load to bring him over. Were talking Anderson, Garcia and Broadway most likely. Now i would do that ONLY if he garunteed to sign an extension with us (similar to the Garcia for Olivo, Reed deal a few years back) -
KW is awesome! Still wanting his '6' starting pitchers, not 5! KW wants his security in case of injury and i dont blaim him. No other teams can even dream of having a 6 starter cushion. Whatever Kenny does in the next few days, if anything, i trust that it will make our team better.
-
Vernon Wells is awesome! However, Toronto would want the world for him, im guessing a package of Brian Anderson, Freddy Garcia, Lance Broadway and more... FORGET IT! Not for a rent-a-player. He would be another Bartolo Colon. Just too bad we dont have anymore Rocky Biddle's to offer

QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Dec 4, 2006 -> 10:28 PM) Brian Anderson>Aaron Rowand. If this is so why did Mackowiack play a ton of CF last year? BA will one day be better than Rowand, but as of right now he is not.
-
KW has said on the score "I dont have to trade anybody, if it comes down to it, i wont be affraid to send McCarthy back down to triple-a" Meaning he wont make a deal if he feels it wont help the team. I highly doubt that will happen. McCarthy back to triple-a would be a traveshamockery if you ask me.

QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Dec 4, 2006 -> 06:20 PM) I think Aaron Rowand has become the White Sox fan's version of cocaine. Yeah, getting rid of him brought a guy who hit 40+ home runs and should hit 500 next year, yeah he spent half last year on the DL, and yeah, his offensive numbers simply aren't good, but PEOPLE JUST CAN'T STOP THINKING ABOUT HIM AND WILL GIVE UP ANYTHING TO GET MORE OF HIM. lol thats the qoute of the day because its pretty much true. Many White Sox fans have wanted Rowand back since May and we have been talking about getting him back ever since. You have to admit, he may not be the the most talented, or even a better athlete than than Anderson, but he works his ass off and White Sox fans appreciate that. He loves the White Sox and loves White Sox fans. How can you not miss a guy like him?? Getting Rowand back won't neccessarily garuntee us a division title, but it does garuntee us that our defense will be pretty solid out in CF and RF. Getting Rowand back may also help Pods game, Rowand helped Pods defense when he was here and Pods helped Rowands base running. Im all for getting Rowand back.
-
KW is known for re-aqcuirering his grinder-type players. How many times did he get Everett? Like 3? lol I am one of Rowand's biggest fans and would love for him to be back on the southside. Think about it, it would most likely be for 1 season. You give BA a season down in triple-a to develope into a better hitter and he can easily replace him in 2008. The cost for Rowand shouldn't be too high. A) he is coming off an injury. and B. he is on his last year of his deal. What do you guys think it would cost to get him?
-
So far KW is 2-2 (if you count Takatsu's 2004 season) in going to Asia and signing players. Can't hurt us!!! The Winter Meetings start today, I wonder how many calls he already got in regards to one of our starters? If Ted Lily is asking for 10 mill/ season i am expecting an aweful lot for one of our proven starters!

Scott Podsednik Re-Signs with White Sox
GreatScott82 replied to Colorado Sox Fan's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Call me crazy, but I don't mind this deal at all. KW took into account that guys like Pierre, Roberts, and Mathews Jr were getting more money than Jermaine Dye! Sure re-signing Pods is a risk, but its a cheap risk. Lets all remember that Pods had a bad 2004, then when the Sox got him he had an awesome 2005 and was the catylist to that teams offense. In 2006 he was obviously bothered by his groin early on and never was the same all season. He already rebounded once after having a bad season, he can definitley do it again. Hell if i were KW i would still consider getting a guy like Crawford to play CF and hit leadoff. I've said it before, I would love for Pods to bat 9th in our lineup. It would A) give hime a chance to get back on track without having the 'leadoff' pressure. and B. give us one hell of a 9-1-2-3 punch providing KW replaces BA in CF. I'm just really hoping KW has some tricks up his sleeve at the winter meetings, i'm just not sure what they are?!? -
Sox & Angels Talking; Crede/Garcia for Santana/Figgins
GreatScott82 replied to Steve9347's topic in Pale Hose Talk
QUOTE(soxfan3530 @ Nov 30, 2006 -> 10:16 PM) i dont really want to read through the last twenty pages so if someone could help me out. has there been any news with this trade sine the report that the two teams had had discussions. if someone could give me a update it would be greatly appreciated. thanks yep its just speculation at this point. KW didn't deny that he would indeed trade Crede. However, he did say 'at this point Crede is part of the 2007 plans'. I think its well known by this point that Garcia would be the guy KW trades out of the pitchers if an attractive offer came his way. And since Crede's agent is Borass, there might be some releavance to a this rumor. I guess we just have to wait unitl the winter meetings at this point to see what KW plans on doing. Should be interesting......
