  1. Hmm i thought he was a fan favorite in Oakland and wanted to stay?!? Should be interestng to see what Oakland does to replace him next year. It should also be interesting to see what Toronto does next..
  2. Hmm should be interesting if this rumor is legit..... If one team would 'overpay' for Freddy, the Angels are it, esspecially after the way Freddy dominated them in the playoffs in '05. I would trade Freddy for Santana, because we would STILL have an advantage with 6 starters. Keeping Santana would be sweet, however, if you can then ship Santana and Fields for Crawford w/o giving up BMac. WOW then KW would seriously be my hero! However, i think Santana and BMac are pretty close in talent, BMac has a brighter future, but Santana has already proven himself in this league, something Tampa is looking for.
  3. eh who knows..maybe this ardesma dude can be a surprise and he can be a key piece to our pen. I guess KW's rationale behind this move is 'we already have Thorton, who has proven to be our lefty set-up man' Cotts was a key ingrediant to that dominant bullpen in 2005, however i don't wish him luck as he will now be relieving on the North Side.. gross!
  4. I read on many occasions how much KW loves Bedard. Or remember last offseason how Baltamore wanted Jose Contreras and Uribe for Tejada?!? I wonder if those talks have regained any momentum..... I expect a big impact very soon as Turkey Day is quickly approaching... Didn't KW aqcuire Thome friday, the day after Turkey day last year?
  5. im not buying the whole alex gonzales thing. i expect uribe to be back and to be our #9 hitter like he was in '05. what does that mean about BA?!? he'll either be on our bench as the 4th OFer. OR he'll be traded. I expect a new CF AND LF this offseason.
  6. QUOTE(Gene Honda Civic @ Nov 17, 2006 -> 03:58 AM) 2 more years, but who's counting? oh yes i forgot that 2006 was apart of the 3 year deal he signed last offseason. well 2 years is better than 1 year. gotta keep jon g!
  7. QUOTE(witesoxfan @ Nov 17, 2006 -> 03:49 AM) Why are people gushing over a 4.50 ERA? I don't understand it. The ONLY thing Garland did was pitch well during a stretch where our pitching was pretty much all-around horrible. hmm maybe that he has back-to-back 18 win seasons, he's still young, getting better. proven to be clutch in the playoffs and in big games, he's signed for 3 more years. you may call it gushing, im saying sox fans who dont want to see him go are smart. especially since we have 2 pitchers heading into their final year of their contract. trading buerhle or garcia just makes more sense to me.
  8. i'm not really a big fan of the cotts deal, but if kw trades our best pitcher, i would officially be off the kw bandwagon. that would be horrible
  9. QUOTE(Jordan4life_2006 @ Nov 14, 2006 -> 02:05 AM) If only it were that simple. Guys like Joe Crede and Jon Garland "sucked a lot at baseball," too, their first year. Somethin' is clearly going on with Anderson that hasn't been made public yet. You also have to take in account that both Crede and Garland had much more slack because at that period in time in their development the White Sox were just trying to compete for the division. Its different for Anderson because they plugged him in at CF on a defending championship team. The fact of the matter is after 2007, nobody knows what direction the White Sox will go. With multiple players heading into free agency after the 2007 season, KW and JR both know they need to be as strong as possible for THIS season. This is why IMO we are hearing talks about getting Rowand back or possibly a new CF. I'm not saying BA won't be a good player in this league one day, its just that KW is probably worried that the one day might not be in 2007.
  10. Any trade involving one of our starters and Texas better involve Michael Young.
  11. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Nov 13, 2006 -> 05:33 PM) Something will go down soon involving KW if history is any guide. And I hope to God it doesn't involve CF. I also think one more full season out at CF can do wonders for BA. However, Ozzie just doesn't have patience for him. (look at how many times Mackowiack was out there). So I wouldn't be suprised if KW lands a new LF and CF very soon.
  12. Rick Hahn said the payroll won't be issue for 2007. Since the revenue and ticket sales were at all time highs in 2006, Riensdorf is giving KW the okay to do what he thinks is best fit. I wouldn't be surprised if our payroll will be around 110-120 mill.
  13. The Score keeps on mentioning that the Sox want to improve the SS and CF possition. And Offman brought up the Vizquel and Rowand thing again. Take it for what its worth.... I expect KW to make 1 huge splash this offseason. We all know he doesn't want Detroit to be the main talk of the offseason with the aqcuisition of Sheffield. Expect the rumor wires to go off the hook these next few days.... stay tuned.
  14. QUOTE(R.Sweeney @ Nov 12, 2006 -> 04:22 PM) I think Coco is the type of guy KW is looking for so if he can get a reasonable trade worked out he'll make it happen .Maybe Garcia for Coco and a minor leaguer .If Garcia wasnt in the last year he would be worth more .Maybe we could get Lopez back with Coco . Garcia for Coco and Lopez?!? No thanx. Teams will be over paying for starting pitching this offseason, IMO the Sox can get much more than that for Garcia. Coco had a borderline Pods type season last year.
  15. Happiness is being a sox fan. enough said White Sox have always been and always be #1 on my list. I'm happy the rest of Chicago finally opened their eyes!!
  16. Lets change this up a bit. Will Brian Anderson be our starting CF next year yes or no? and why I say yes they will give him another chance at turning it around. How many chances did KW give Rowand before he finally developed into a solid player? They gave him like 3-4 chances before finally keeping him as our starting CF. In 2002 they demoted him and aqcuired Lofton. In 2003 he started, but then was demoted because of poor offense and they aqcuired Carl Everett. In 2004 he finally developed into a solid player and 2005 he broke out defensively and got the job done offensively. I think KW has patience with his players, however, this time i don't think he'll be as hesitant to make a move to replace Anderson if he still is struggling by the AS break. Patience has payed off with Garland, Rowand and Crede. But will it pay off with Anderson? Is he a bust? He has 4 months to prove that he is worthy to play every day in CF.
  17. Rick Hahn was on the score yesterday and he pretty much confirmed that BMac WILL be in the rotation next year. He also confirmed that one of the starters will be traded to make room for him. So unless TB wants Contreras, Vazquez or Garcia we WONT get Crawford. As talented as Crawford is, this team doesn't need him to get to the next level. WHat I expect to happen based on reading articles and from your awesome money charts is for KW to trade Garcia (whome has the highest value out of the 3 I mentioned) and most likely Uribe as his defense attracts many teams around the league for a guy like Michael Young (a guy Hahn, KW and Ozzie absolutely LOVE). Texas needs pitching also and with a defensive shortstop who is cabable of hitting 20+ HRs a season they wouldn't be getting screwed from this deal in any stretch of the imagination. From there they can FINALLY plug BMac into the rotation and then go ahead and sign either Pierre or Roberts to fill that LF/lead off role that we missed last season. Hmmm but what will they do with Pods?!? I truley believe KW can find a solid reliever for him. Many teams are desperate for a speedy OFer. And despite his 2006 dissapointing season, many teams will show interest in him this offseason. From there they can find one more reliever via free agency and we shall be set. Your 2007 White Sox: Pierre or Roberts LF Young SS Dye RF Thome DH Konerko 1B Iguchi 2B Crede 3B AJ C Anderson CF Rotation: Buerhle, Garland, Contreras, Vazquez, McCarthy Bullpen: Jenks, Mac, Thorton, Cotts, (reliever for Pods) (reliever free agency or Haegar) Bench: Pretty much the same. We may see Cintron be apart of a deal also, then KW can bring Willy Harris back. As then Willy Harris can bring GROUP 4 back! Thats what i expect to happen and im sticking to it GO SOX in 2007
  18. Crawford is a no miss. However, after some thought we have to think about the future of this rotation. Lets say we trade McCarthy for Crawford. What happens after 2007, when Buerhle and Garcia enter free agency? Then there is two critical holes in our rotation. I know we are all in a 'win now' state of mind, but it may be smarted long and short term to just do this: Trade Pods, Uribe and Garcia to Texas for Michael Young and a reliever. Sign Pierre to a 2 year deal. Plug in BMac into our rotation.
  19. well the target is now on detroits chest for the American league contenders to aim at. No longer on us. Not that it means much, but expect Detroit to struggle in 2007.
  20. Hmmm now 1B coach options?? Whose out there? Carlton Fisk?!? Or is Baines going to continue with the job?
  21. Sheffield = Cancer = No playoffs or World Series. Sheffield= No thank you.
  22. QUOTE(CanOfCorn @ Oct 31, 2006 -> 05:05 PM) That would be great, but your lineup is a bit off: Pierre or Roberts LF Young SS Dye Thome Pauly Iguchi Crede AJ Anderson I think the Sox will try as hard as they can to get Iguchi out of the No. 2 slot if they can. He's a run producer and even though he's done a fantastic job as a 2, he should be given the chance to drive in some runs. yea i was thinking Young would be a better fit for #2. But either or we would finally have a balanced lineup again. Last year just wasn't balanced enough.
  23. Well since young is going into his final year of his deal and so is Garcia, it would make sense for both teams. Texas NEEDS pitching and we LOVE Young. Hmm could an Uribe/Garcia for Young type deal occur? I can see it. Can Young be a leadoff hitter? Okay now a light bulb just went on in my head. First off patch up the bullpen!!!! Then trade Garcia and Uribe for Young. Next, sign Pierre or Roberts to play LF. 2006 Starting Lineup Pierre or Roberts LF Iguchi 2B Dye RF Thome DH Pauly 1B Young SS Crede 3B AJ C Anderson CF Rotation: Buerhle Garland Contreras Vazquez McCarthy
  24. thats kick ass!! ya see Pods, even though we were all over you in 2006, you will always be a legend on the south side! Kind of like un-sung hero Geoff Blum lol
  25. Lets get Willie back on the bench. Then he can bring GROUP 4 back! haha good times.
