October 27, 200619 yr 1 -- make their pitchers field the ball. 2 -- throw Curtis Granderson nothing but breaking balls. 3 -- take at least one strike, if not two, against Joel Zumaya. 4 -- put extra water in the outfield. 5 -- empty all the pine tar buckets on the nights Kenny Rogers pitches.
October 27, 200619 yr looks like one hell of a plan to me. Worked for the Cards that's for sure. though Rogers still dealt.
October 27, 200619 yr Great post winningugly. I am amazed at how bad the Tigers are playing. It's like the ghost of Roger Maris pushed Granderson to the turf and that throw to first on the bunt was horrific. And there was no reason Monroe (lf?) was playing so far in on that line drive off his glove. Bad baseball. That said, it's not over yet. The Cardinals are equally mediocre and could easily drop the next 3. Cards starter had nothing tonight. I was amazed at Maggs' horrific at bats tonight. He was getting some meat to hack at. Tigers are in a funk right now.
October 27, 200619 yr QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Oct 26, 2006 -> 11:30 PM) Wite could beat the Tigers by himself at the moment. I could've beaten them at any point during the season. fooking Ozzie not calling me
October 27, 200619 yr The biggest tip was. Nefi Perez on the roster Mets had Tucker and they gone, now its the Tigers turn to suffer the Cub curse.
October 27, 200619 yr Hit it to their pitchers. How many errors by their pitchers do they have so far? Atleast 4. Amazing Statistic.

I was amazed at Maggs' horrific at bats tonight. He was getting some meat to hack at. Tigers are in a funk right now. All this is very true. I don't expect the Cardinals to choke, but it's certainly not impossible. They've been the lesser of two sucks so far. When David Eckstein has to lead you to victory, you ain't stompin' on nobody. Edmonds looks overmatched on fastballs and Albert had an off-night, going 0-for-2 and hitting into a big double play with the tying and lead runs on base early. If the Series goes back to Detroit, Rogers seems to be unbeatable there. If the Series gets to game 7, throw everything out the window because the Birds would DEFINITELY be feeling the pressure then. The word I heard on the radio to describe Magglio last night was "disinterested", and I'd have to agree. He just looked slow and lethargic. I can't imagine how someone could lose concentration during the World Series, but that's what it looks like from him.
October 27, 200619 yr is it any surprise how bad the Tigers are playing? hello? 36-38 after the All-Star break. they're only in because we didn't win ANY of the games we needed to win...Sox were 12-17 in September. ouch. Edited October 27, 200619 yr by AirScott

Well considering they were playing fantastic in the DS and CS and now they're playing worse than the Royals, yes, I'd say it's a bit of a surprise.
October 27, 200619 yr Author Joe torre almost got fired for losing three straight to these guys. they did sweep Oakland. Can't explain how the Cardinals the world series. But they will be one of the absolute worst World Series winners ever.
October 27, 200619 yr QUOTE(winninguglyin83 @ Oct 27, 2006 -> 10:00 AM) Joe torre almost got fired for losing three straight to these guys. they did sweep Oakland. Can't explain how the Cardinals the world series. But they will be one of the absolute worst World Series winners ever. Worst record but they have a lot of talent and have stepped up when it counted most. You make it through 162 games with some significant injuries (Pujols and Mulder), overcome terrible defeats like the Sox handed them earlier this year, and still have enough confidence and talent to win it all, then my hat is off to you, no matter what the record. Did the White Sox not deserve it last year because they did not have to play the Yankees or Cardinals? How about the fact that they played poorly the last couple months? I do not think so. Some pitchers will win by one or two runs every game no matter how big a lead you give them (see Jack McDowell). Others find a way to lose 1-0 and 2-1 games and look like tough luck pitchers (see Mike Sirotka and Matt Clement). If you get yourself into the playoffs, you have a good shot of winning it all, no matter how poor your regular season record. The Cardinals almost didn't make it, but they found a way to stave off their competitors. The slate is wiped clean then and true champions rise to the occassion.
October 27, 200619 yr Considering the Cardinals played only 2 less games last season than the White Sox, its amazing they aren't all tired out now and are in the driver's seat for a world championship. The White Sox were bushed after 11 postseason games last year. The Tigers will be exhausted next season. They really shouldn't even bother fielding a team.
October 28, 200619 yr That tired argument really does annoy me too. Like you said, why weren't the Cardinals all worn out. So our season this year ended in early October. The Tigers played what, four more weeks. So they get 14 weeks off and we get 18 weeks off. Meanwhile some guys are already playing winter ball. So the Tigers and Cardinals next year should wear out in August and September and we should be fresh because we got 4 more weeks off? Stupid.

October 29, 200619 yr Have you guys forgotten the Cardinals won only like 82-83 regular season games? If they were in the AL they wouldnt of been close to the playoffs
October 29, 200619 yr Uh oh, just read in the Detroit press the Tigers may go after Big Hurt. We do not want to face Big Hurt in 19 games next year. This is potentially disastrous for us. The same article said the Tigers "are stuck with Magglio Ordonez and his big contract." No love for Maggs. Who do you all think will go after Hurt the hardest in free agency? I don't want to see him in Detroit.
October 29, 200619 yr Hurt won't go to Detroit. He's too good of a person. Well, thats what I want to believe anyway.

Well, thats what I want to believe anyway. so u dont think theres a chance he might want to play against us just 2 let them know they made a huge mistake not keeping him? i mean i hope he doesn't play with Detroit but i think theres a chance he might
