  1. check my first post before you start flapping your gums, i didn't once rip on illinois football as being inferior to western, i just made a flippant statement on how i hated the orange jerseys. in all my previous posts about UI, it pretty much came down to the battle of attricion, never once did i get on a platform and declare "UIUC is pathetic, WMU will kick the s*** out of them easily." correct me if i'm wrong. thanks for the update on why they wear the new unis, still stupid. i know the basketball team has been wearing orange for a long time, and i don't mind. they look sharp. on the other hand, the football uniforms look horrible. some things are just better left alone. yes, wmu sucks, but UI is just as bad, and this weekend's game is absolutely HUGE for both teams. UI has a great chance to finally win a game against a 1-A opponent , while WMU is obviously shooting for the goal of beating a BCS conference team and a rebound from a severe beating at the hands of VT. both teams have high expectations for saturday. i can't wait to be there. news from today is that baggett is not going to start this weekend, it'll be rutgers transfer ryan cubit, who missed the TN-martin game because of a sour shoulder. also, what ozzie should have said to buck: "f*** YOU"
  2. sorry, i just melted for a second. i think i'm going to run for office in michigan on that platform, actually.
  3. case closed? I consider a 17-0 shutout minus a worthless late touchdown by the dolphins a blowout in the NFL.
  4. then are you that f***ing dense to not come to grips with the fact you are going to get piled on for running "but it's my favorite team and i pick them every week, so that justifies me not getting my ass run" smack every week the dolphins lose? (12 times this year) picking miami + running your mouth like a jackass by making takes on why you picked miami, but when they lose, break out "my favorite team" smack when getting piled on = epic plunger raping.
  5. why is that? christ, syracuse JUST started wearing their hideous orange uniforms and they have had the word ORANGE in their nickname for over 100 years. tennessee's orange uni's i have no problem with, but if they wore orange helmets and pants as well, i'd have a big issue with that. i am a true traditionalist when it comes to sports uniforms, hell i don't even mind teal if used correctly, but the stupid decision making by some people in college athletics just to sell jerseys is unbelievable. let's just go through this logically: why would a school change their uniform colors? a) for the hell of it B) to improve on already bad looking uniforms (like the former brown/gold wmu jerseys) c) to make more money of merchandising well, while pro teams may drastically change colors for the hell of it, 99.99% of colleges with decent athletic tradition don't do that because it is their SCHOOL COLORS. so that eliminates A. the former illinois blue jersey style wasn't horrible, in fact, it should remind you of the simeon rice era at illinois, rather than accent the fact that the team is completely s***, which is what they are doing by just deciding in recent years to start wearing orange uniforms at home. horrible, so B isn't the answer either. so that leaves C as the only viable answer, they are bludgeoning tradition for the sake of making a couple extra bucks.
  6. no wonder you're embracing the ultimate oxy-moron, "compassionate" conservatism. where in that entire article does it show that ozzie is pissed about a 2nd place finish? you can be pissed about a 2nd place and not act like a complete jackass in the press. i like ozzie, but the non-debatable part of the matter is that he reacted very unprofessionally.
  7. RACK, I love ozzie but that was totally stupid and a waste of breath. all that matters is W's and L's, regardless of how you got there. how you got there isn't a barometer of how good of a coach you are. this is when a simple, "f*** you, buck" is appropriate. saves your breath and gets your point across accurately without running on like a complete buffoon. and trust me, i have said some stupid s*** in my life.
  8. asshatsoxfan's sig says it all: ILLINI FOOTBALL RECORD 2003-PRESENT 2-0 VS I-AA 0-12 VS I-A i want honest predictions from illinois fans. in all reality, I don't know what to think about WMU after that embarassment in blacksburg. wmu has been pounded soundly in the past, but never to the tune of 63-0. christ, the VT teams we played in the past four years were much better (as in highly ranked), but you can't ignore 63 points. we won't find out the full story on injuries until later this week. we're playing the quarterback shuffle right now between two unproven quarterbacks, one coming off a bad shoulder and one who had to leave the VT game after taking a big lick. not good. our secondary is horrible and our defense up the middle is not good at best. but i really don't know what to think about the broncos because they have played two games that aren't a true barometer of how good they really are: a 42-0 win over 1-AA doormat tennessee-martin and VT, always one of the most solid teams in the nation. VT might not always compete for the national championship, but they easily take care of lesser quality opponents because of fundamentals, defense, and special teams play. I would say we are at square-one for this weekend. no one in kalamazoo really knows what to think until later this week. hopefully we've escaped blacksburg with minimal injuries. i understand scheduling non-winnable games against teams like VT, but we've got to start making more than $175k if we are going to lose 63-0. as for illinois: just look at the above picture, what a joke. correct me if i'm wrong, but they started wearing those last season. coincidence? absolutely not.
  9. Although WMU gave VT a run for their money this weekend, 63-0 I will say this: WMU +8.5 illinois is doomed to 1-10 seasons as long as they wear those disgraceful orange uniforms.
  10. and (beside the point) but did anyone notice how cute she was in the old photo in the trib? old comiskey, cute women. awwwwwwwwwwwww
  11. that was a phenominal article about one of baseballs long lost treasures being dicked by the ever genius that is major league baseball franchises trying to appeal to the mainstream. like the article said, she never plays anymore so some mainstream fm DJ or someother lame ass can play s***ty arena rock and top 40 garbage. it takes a special talent to play the organ and i tell you this, i think it would have been one of the most tremendous honors in the world to play the organ at chicago stadium, the nation's largest organ at the time...at a hawks game...filled with 22,000 people, THAT would have been a rush.
  12. i don't know, something f***ed up when i copied and pasted the link. i wondered why theat happened.
  13. bwahahahahah! i can hear it right now: "you don't trade a 21 game winner" "you don't trade a cy young candidate" "you don't trade your best pitcher" "you don't trade an all star" the pic says it all. :finger
  14. that would be fine with me, although i like the fridge i doubt he can turn maryland into a consistant power, especially in the new, beefed up Anti-Christ Conference.
  15. media day was awesome. open bar at a hospitality reception at the ren cen on monday night, got to pound heinikens for free and shoot the s*** with rick chryst, who is a GODSEND to this conference. the best thing about media day is that it's the only time of the year when every team is upbeat and optimistic about the season. regarding the mac championship at ford field, i have this to say. i spoke with a couple ADs from the league and they said that there is a VERY GOOD (i.e. nothing is guaranteed) chance the MAC could become a BCS league in 06 when they expand the BCS bowls. but they all said one of the biggest things holding the MAC back is not playing the championship game at a neutral site, and with how the MAC has great relations with the motor city bowl and how the the city of detroit has allowed college football to flourish in it's outstanding facility (EMU plays CMU there this year), i would bet that ford field will host the mac championship in the very near future. also, joe novak is one of the brightest coaches in college football. NIU is VERY lucky to have him. NIU also got picked to finish second in the MAC West to Toledo, who ran away with over 80% of the first place votes.
  16. Number of Big 11 teams that finished higher than No. 10-ranked Miami University in the final AP poll: 1: Michigan. you were exactly the person i was hoping to rub the wrong way. it was tongue in cheek, dude, we'll be lucky to break .500 this year. regarding "mac football, watch out?" ask the following schools if they'll take the MAC lightly ever again. alabama maryland NO. 8-ranked Pitt Purdue Kansas State any other BCS school that has lost to a MAC school in the past five years. but i am looking forward to partying in champaign that night, hopefully after a bronco victory. I bet vegas will set the line at UIUC -4. BTW, NIU would humiliate UIUC.
  17. just got back from MAC media day in detroit and I want some Illinois fans to confirm that the Illini will be an embarassment to 1-A football again this year as they were last year. When the Broncos come to Champaign on Sept. 18, i want to see a deflated UIUC team that will be saying to themselves "here we go again" when WMU rolls them.
  18. bad call by VA TECH, for once i agree with stephen s*** smith, but to KICK THE GUY OUT OF SCHOOL for a semester for FRICKIN' WEED is ridiculous. LP and thousands of other Nebraska "grads" didn't get booted for slapping women around, and compared to that, you have to be kidding. suspend him from the team for all i care, but booting him from school does him no good. and there are FAR worse things he could have done.
  19. looks like i'm the only one on here who's going to stick up for rome. i like rome. rome is no different than any other radio talk show host, except for that his takes actually are: 1) logical 2) well thought out 3) funny people b**** about mariotti, skip bayless, stephen s*** smith and others because their ways of getting over are by getting louder. rome is an entertainer, and anyone who doesn't understand that will never understand him or his show. sure, he went off on a rant, and it would have been nice for him to rack the sox when they swept minnesota on the road, but they didn't. did you expect him to rack the sox when they got swept by the twinkies at home? i hope not. people say rome is aloof (i disagree), but he's not going to prop the sox after they got spanked at home in convincing fashion. while i don't agree with rome on everything, i think he does a great job talking about sports. his interviews with athletes i could really care less about, but some guests he has are top notch. they way he interacts with the clones (through email and phone) is what makes a lot of the show, he plays off them very well. the people who hate rome are people who aren't down with the so cal lingo, the "takes", and the jungle as a whole. which is too bad, because I find rome quite funny and think he does a great job. you could listen to garbage hometown duos from 12-3pm EST or you could listen to rome, a smart articulate dude who isn't over the top and is actually funny once in a while.
  20. i don't understand the t-bo hating, dude is behind one of the perenially softest defenses in the league with little scoring support, and when healthy, can play 70 games a year and be a wall in net. he's the cornerstone of the team.
  21. unfortunately it didn't have the space that said "get shot outside wrigley by drunk cubs fan, end of game."
