  1. sheets was a HUGE f***ing question mark coming into this season! you want to define inconsistancy and no confidence coming into '04? sheets' face is right next to it. you see him pulling out a nice win one night and then four nights later he's giving up 6 ER in 3 IP. Not exactly someone you can confide in. BUT!!!!!!!!!!!!! i took a gamble on him in my fantasy league and he's paying huge dividends. f*** y'all, you can't have him! but anyone who says he wasn't up for grabs coming into this season is nuts. WE'RE TALKING ABOUT THE f***ING BREWERS HERE, PEOPLE! same organization that is run by wendy selig and her f***ing father! same team that signs big sexy to a huge deal and deals him two years later after crying poverty, same team that begs for a new stadium then cuts payroll because of "salary" and then sells the team because everyone hates them! (you all know the deal). bottom line, sheets was about to become jeff weaver-time real f***ing soon, but thankfully for him, he found his groove.
  2. yes i must admit i've been a mb fan all along and i think he has the stuff to be one of the best, at least he can be a solid contributor to a pennant winning club.
  3. thanks for the help! always nice to hear about the sox being on national television.
  4. the one against the brewers today where he collided with andruw jones in the outfield was nasty, it looked way worse than the prior incident because how violently he bounced off jones. at least he looked somewhat alright, although that shoulder will obviously be a problem.
  5. i kind of like jeff brantley, but all I would say to him is that all I remember from his playing days are 1) his ridiculous windup and motion that made fastballs look 80 mph 2) giving up jack after jack at the vet for the phils.
  6. that is by far one of the most ignorant posts i've ever seen it's not legitimate for someone to ask paul why he's been sat two games in a row? doesn't seem like he's starting any controversy right there. although I don't care because it's TV: the root of all evil.
  7. jays had the worst home record in the al coming into this weekend, o's swept them in toronto three weeks ago.
  8. i agree on olivo. i don't understand why he doens't play more often. how much are he and sandy making?
  9. actually is from interpol's leif erikson off turn on the bright lights.
  10. hawks, for sure, unfortunately. my amonte third jersey is sitting in my closet, hasn't been worn in years. i have good memories, but i won't promote, nor give another dime to dollar bill. i've had enough. by the way, i'm a western michigan university hockey backer. f*** michigan.
  11. congrats no way in hell i could ever achieve a math degree, that's some difficult s***. good luck in the real world, i must say i have been putting off becoming a working sucker as long as possible. reality is catching up quickly!
  12. Obstacle 1

    Mario Tennis

i felt that way until i played tiger woods for ps2.
  13. current baseball america subscribers! thinking about getting another script soon. haven't read it in a while, last read in '98. just making sure it has a good lineup of writers. if keith olbermann doesn't write for them anymore, that's alright. but just want to make sure it's worth the $50 i have to shell out. if anyone has any hookups on script deals, i'd appreciate it. rack the sox
  14. i'm glad to hear you guys have get togethers. i'm a long time poster on a college hockey forum, and they get together all the time, which is sweet. i try to make at least four games a year. money is tight, what can i say, bu tI try to make as many monday or tuesday half-priced night games as possible. best value ion baseball the midwest. too bad today sucked, but there are over 100 games left. rack the sox.
  15. got to be some pumpkins fans in here! i'm trying to expand my collection of pumpkins bootlegs, mainly ones from the gish/sd/mellon collie-era. anything with hummer, drown, jellybelly, tonight tonight, xyu, porcelina, quiet, worst spammer ever, siva, etc. is a plus! i'm just re-discovering the band now, they never received the credit they deserved. they were honestly one of the best bands to come out of the grunge era.
  16. i just discovered this board today, and i must say it is awesome to see people pumped about sox baseball! being from west michigan i must say palehose fans like myself are an extremely RARE breed in tiger country and it's great to see people who care about the sox, because we all know a lot of people don't. i never have anyone to talk sox with because all my friends like the tigers and i end up fending off massive pile-ons when it comes to baseball discussions, mostly on why the tigers suck, but i speak the truth i have owned three sox hats in my life since i was nine years old (all new era 5950 fitted authentics), and the current one i have is from march of 99, and the logo on the front has become a discolored yellow from how often i have worn it, and it's proud black has become faded from the sun. it doesn't attract women, either, but f*** it, GO SOX! i don't get to watch many sox games on tv being in kalamazoo, but it was nice to see them on espn2 beating the orioles in that rainstorm. watching them crush the yankees on espn in april was awesome as well. every time i see mags play, he continues to amaze me. hopefully our bullpen can come together, i really think ozzie's the man for the job. and RACK all your awesome signatures! especially the ones with ozzie and mb!
  17. holy s***! and when is this?????????/
  18. shows you how inhumanely cruel some men in power can be
  19. the flying isn't what sucks, it's dealing with the airlines and dealing with security that sucks. i went to the wmu/vandy bball game in orlando this year and we flew first class charter back to kzoo, if i could afford it, i would NEVER fly coach commerical ever again.
  20. while moore may be over the top, i agree, we need more people like him who speak up and care about what happens to the little guy. "roger and me" and "bowling for columbine" were two movies that touched sensitive topics. being from michigan, i have seen first-hand what an absolute s***hole Flint has become since GM shut down buick city. that city is in absolute RUIN and there is really no light at the end of the tunnel. the city is perenially broke, the streets are crumbling, unemployment is out of this world, and i wouldn't let my best friend walk the streets of flint at night. moore is angry, and rightfully so, at the lack of corporate accountability in today's economy.
  21. this is an excellent thread that's on a topic that has bothered me for some time. i have experienced a music "epiphany" over the last few years after I got away from the No. 1 thing that limited my musical maturation: FM RADIO I listened to a lot of my dad's music growing up (classic rock), and of course, classic rock singles get heavy radio play, so i was a devotee of local rock stations. not to rip on classic rock, i still love and enjoy many of the bands i listened to growing up, they are classic for a reason (neil young, zeppelin, floyd, yes, steely dan, CSN, the band, rush "per se"). but i never saw the light until a few years ago when my friend brought home the 2000 virginia beach pearl jam bootleg. i was never a big fan of theirs, or grunge, before, but i was obviously familiar with the radio hits off Ten. but i never cared to listen to any other of their songs, and holy s*** were they sweet. i pretty much became a hard core pj and grunge fan from there on out, and proceedingly, stopped listening to fm radio. f*** that s***. patience is the no. 2 key to enjoying music. there are thousands of albums you will come across that won't instantly appeal to you on the first complete listen, those are a rare bunch. many bands that i have grown to love have come from multiple, multiple spins. like riot act. didn't really care for it for the first couple weeks, but it grew on me, and that's what happens when you listen to music by bands who create ALBUMS, not singles. Bands like soundgarden, interpol, pj, the smashing pumpkins, radiohead, blind melon, tool, rush, steely dan, and pj create albums and put 14 songs on it for a reason. bottom line...GET AWAY FROM FM RADIO! unfortunately for myself, my roommate has, without a doubt, the WORST taste in music, ever, in the history of mankind. focusing mostly on bad, cheesy, mass marketed 80s music (but not all 80s music was mass marketed, mind you), he openly admits 1) to enjoy fm radio, 2) to enjoy singles and burnt compliations, 3) having a short attention span when it comes to music, and 4) having no shame when it comes to listening to horrible, horrible music. but he enjoys it, so i guess i can't front, but his music choices are painful to listen to. there is no way in f***ing hell i am going to let a corporate suit tell me what music is good. another thing that has improved my musical tastes have been bootlegs, which appropriately started when i began collecting the pearl jam 2000 boots. while i appreciate the production on a studio album (see: steely dan), live music is the best. pj helped me understand that live music has unlimited raw potential (see: the pumpkins, interpol), every show and every song is never, never played the same twice (unless you are creed). I own many albums, but i don't spin them nearly as much as I do my bootlegs. it's the way music was meant to be made. i discovered a site called sharingthegroove.org, i highly recommend it if you have a burner. all the shows posted are non-mp3 based and are great with a high speed line, you can get a 1 gig sized show in about 6 hours if you have a decent connection (better than my 30 kb/s). and also: it's FREE, which never sucks.
