Podsednik said if he gets on enough he doesn't see any reason why he can't have 80-90 steal attempts.

QUOTE(witesoxfan @ Mar 19, 2005 -> 03:08 PM) If that were the case, teams would have been lining up to get Antonio Alfonseca too. RRPotY is figured out statistically...and I am almost positive wins are counted in that formula. Billy won 11 games in 02. He also had a WHIP of 1.27, which is decent, but nothing spectacular, and his BB/9 of 4.4 was nothing to write home about. His HR/9 was 0.67 though, which is actually very solid(especially when you consider that it was 1.7 with us the next year) They would like to turn him around...but I don't think he is fixable, right now. He is just all over. That was a weak year for the rolaids relief winner in the al.

He also singles to drive in borchard.

QUOTE(WHarris1 @ Mar 19, 2005 -> 02:58 PM) You don't consider Buehrle an ace? There are very few ''aces''. Buehrle is a number one starter for the white sox but on some teams he would be a two.

QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Mar 19, 2005 -> 02:18 PM) How the hell does Danny Bautista not get a job. He had a solid year this past season. He did with the devils rays.

QUOTE(Jabroni @ Mar 19, 2005 -> 03:55 AM) Well, let's see... 1.) 36 year old knees. 2.) Horrible throwing arm. There's a reason they wanted to convert him to a first baseman last season. The problem is that he was even worse at first base than he was at catcher. Hence, putting him back at catcher this season. The guy is just begging to be a DH in the A.L. He has asked to move back to catcher to i believe. He believes the move the first base to is the reason for his decline in offensive production.

QUOTE(witesoxfan @ Mar 19, 2005 -> 03:18 AM) Um, no Irresistible.

QUOTE(Gene Honda Civic @ Mar 19, 2005 -> 01:23 AM) Shuf works for the Sox now... Posting on a fan message board is frowned upon. You probably won't see him post here ever again. he told me a while back on aim he may start posting in slAp and the sports bar so who knows.

The title made me laugh i am not gonna deny it.

QUOTE(AddisonStSox @ Mar 18, 2005 -> 07:26 PM) Davis is getting paid $1M to be a #2 catcher. I have no problem with that. Hell, look at what the idiots from the Northside paid their backup catcher. Four big ones. We have one of the better catching tandums in the AL, why mess it up? I laughed at what is in bold.

QUOTE(Jabroni @ Mar 18, 2005 -> 07:53 PM) Yeah, they do have Ramon Castro in camp but he's pretty bad. With Piazza being unable to catch many games in his old age and Castro being horrible, I wonder if the Mets would be interested in Davis. Who said piazza can't catch many games anymore? He may suck at it but if they want him to hit well he will catch 100 games at the very least if not 120.

QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ Mar 18, 2005 -> 08:44 PM) Point remains the same -- Konerko doesn't deserve anything about eight million -- IMHO. He has a career 111 OPS+ -- above average, but not a guy I want making 8-12 million per year -- which is what Konerko will be asking for. And he'll probably get it, too. I just think the money can be spent better elsewhere (like qwerty's guy comin' over from Japan -- the 24 year old who throws the gyro-ball, don't want to attempt the name spelling). If we got daisuke matsuzaka...

Two run bomb for borchard to make it 11-8 sox.

QUOTE(AnthraxFan93 @ Mar 18, 2005 -> 04:31 PM) Hawk made a better GM than KW.. and Hawk Sucked. Take that back.

Yes, garland leading off.

Neither cotts or walker should be the left handed setup man. Are we forgetting marte?

QUOTE(Jabroni @ Mar 18, 2005 -> 12:53 AM) Ummm, left field in PNC Park is tougher to play than right field. PNC Park's left field is a cavern... So what? You want your right fielder to have the strong arm period.
-
He will be their right fielder. I don't care about how they start the season. He will not last in right field for five straight games until he is moved to left.

QUOTE(Jabroni @ Mar 18, 2005 -> 12:29 AM) It's spelled Mackowiak. Also, the Pirates are expected to start the season with Wiggington at 3B, Jason Bay in LF, Tike Redman in CF, and Matt Lawton in RF. Mackowiak will be their super-sub off the bench. Bay will be in right lawton in left.

QUOTE(Jabroni @ Mar 17, 2005 -> 11:15 PM) 39? Ben Davis is only 28 right now. Michael Barrett was picked later than Davis in the 1st Round of the 1995 Draft and he didn't break out until last season with the Flubs. It may not be likely that Davis will break out anytime soon but it's definately within the realm of possibilities. Could you have predicted that Barrett would have a huge year last season? I doubt it. Before last year barrett hit .250 or higher three times and davis one. I did not think that barret would be as good as last year but i thought he would be better than davis. I said 39 because he is one of those players like many that people want to hold onto forever because of their ''potential''. I will take widger over him anyday.
-
QUOTE(Jabroni @ Mar 17, 2005 -> 11:05 PM) Robert Machado, ex-White Sox scrub catcher? Wow. Davis at least has some potential. It's not much but it's more than Machado. Machado probably isn't even starting catcher material for AAA teams. Davis will be 39 and still be liked because of his ''potential. Both machado and davis blow a little bit more so for machado.
-
QUOTE(Jabroni @ Mar 17, 2005 -> 10:56 PM) Robby Hammock has to first recover from surgery on his torn labrum last month and Fordyce nearing retirement since no team is interested in him. At least give some better examples than those two guys. Hammock will be ready in three months or so. So basically if the pirates gave him a ring he would say yes becayse let's face it cota is nothing special. Another bad catcher ( like davis) is machado.
-
QUOTE(Jabroni @ Mar 17, 2005 -> 10:36 PM) Why not? Benito Santiago is 40 and Cota isn't a top prospect or anything. And J.R. House is gone. Whoever their catcher is will bat 8th for them so it's not like they are looking for an upgrade offensively. Even if they were they would not look at davis? What does davis bring to the table defensively? :puke They have two s***ty starters in their rotation and their pen is thin. They need pitching, pitching, and more pitching. Not a bust who is paid one million dollar. If they really want a catcher they can sign robby hammock or brook fordyce for a minor league contract without giving up any talent whatsoever.
-
QUOTE(Jabroni @ Mar 17, 2005 -> 10:33 PM) Teams that need a catcher... Dodgers - They currently have a stellar catching duo of David Ross and Paul Bako and Dioner Navarro is not ready for the majors yet. Pirates - They have a catching duo of 40 year old Benito Santiago and catching prospect, Humberto Cota. They also just released their top catching prospect in J.R. House due to his myriad of injuries. Catcher is definitely not high on the pirates list in my opinion.
