  1. QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Feb 4, 2010 -> 10:45 PM) This has to be the most depressing thread ever. Besides the stupid Jayhawks, nobody's team seems to be doing well this season. This year of basketball has just been terrible. Even Kansas almost lost to a horrible Colorado team. Down year in college basketball + Calipari at Kentucky = disgusting year for me.
  2. Ha, Roy blows another one. If he doesn't have elite talent, he's going to get outcoached. His love affair with s***ty seniors has cost UNC this season. Thank God UNC will have elite talent again next year.
  3. Thinking about it some more I'm starting to warm up to the idea of 96 teams if it's done properly. The top 32 teams would get a "bye". Programs like mine at Texas Tech would have a much better chance of being in the tournament every year. However, I hope they call this first set of games something different from the tourney, maybe the Play In or something similar. This Play In could take place on Tuesday between selection Sunday and the first set of games on Thursday. That way you could still keep the current statistics on teams making the actual Tourney and new skew them. The teams from the power conferences that are just on the border of the tournament would end up with the seeds 9-16 most likely, and the "lesser" teams from small conferences would likely be stuck with the 16-24 seeds. What you would likely see is more middle of the pack power conference teams matching up with the "bye" top 32 teams. In this fashion you would likely starting seeing some #16 vs. #1 seed upsets in the future. You would have teams like Oklahoma State, Virginia etc vs. UNC, UK etc instead of Morehead State vs. UNC to begin the tourney.
  4. QUOTE (whitesoxfan99 @ Jan 31, 2010 -> 08:57 PM) Seven McDonald's All Americans isn't a lot of talent? Granted the Wear twins and Drew were laughable selections but still. And I haven't watched as much UNC as you obviously but Thompson is a hell of a lot better option than the Wear twins and John Henson. And he is having a great season statistically. That's actually the exact opposite of the current UNC situation. The Wear twins and Henson are playing the best basketball on the team, along with Dexter Strickland. The freshmen are playing at a high level, and the seniors are playing some horrendous basketball. Yet Roy continues to stick with the seniors and UNC gets their ass handed to them. UNC's frontcourt outside of the Wear twins is really, really soft. Ginyard is worse than Jordan at Illinois offensively, he just can't do anything, even layups are a tremendous struggle. Ginyard's surgery last year also killed his quickness and he's now an average defender. I'll put it this way, Ginyard is 6-28 in his last 6 games, yet he continues to get 30 minutes a game. Henson plays some tremendous defense and provides rebounding. There's young talent on this roster, but Roy just won't play it. He's too stubborn. If Roy finally gives in and lets the freshmen have the minutes, UNC will finish the season as a dangerous team in the ACC tourney. But I'm not holding my breath.
  5. LOL, UNC is about to lose at home by around 15 to the consensus last place team in the pre-season ACC pick Virginia Cavaliers. Reminds me of the 02-03 dark days. This team doesn't have much talent, and Roy won't play the talent in favor of the s***ty seniors marcus ginyard and deon thompson.
  6. Saw an unverified source that says that Pittsburgh will be added to the Big 10, announcement on Thursday. Take it with a big grain of salt.
  7. QUOTE (3E8 @ Jan 29, 2010 -> 06:53 PM) My co-worker told me her kids don't know how to write in cursive because it isn't taught in their schools. I'm wondering if this is just a Texas thing because I grew up in Illinois and learned cursive in 2nd grade I definitely learned cursive in school here, and all my friends had to as well. She must have been from a tiny town.
  8. Texas just added two more 5 star commits today. They have quite possibly the greatest recruiting class in history now. Yipee.
  9. QUOTE (danman31 @ Jan 26, 2010 -> 10:46 PM) Yeah, it's similar to how it felt after NU lost in Illinois. Decent effort, had chances, one guy won it for the other team, just have to get them in Evanston. That last 3 from Hoffarber was sick. Pretty sure he barely looked at the basket. So what does everything think of Kentucky after this loss? I've never thought they were great. Their best win (and only vs. a current top 25 team) was a 3 point win over UConn on a neutral floor. Their only other win vs. an RPI top 50 was Louisville in Lexington. They beat Carolina at home and won at Florida, the only other teams on their schedule that are at-large worthy (and even that's fringe). They've had a few close calls this year against below average competition and now this loss to a South Carolina team that still is looking at the NIT. There are tougher SEC teams coming up, but the conference is pretty weak overall. I'm probably putting Kentucky somewhere around 8 if I'm ranking teams right now and I could lean lower, but other teams have more question marks to me. Kentucky has the talent to win it all. I'm just waiting for something to blow up off the court at UK. Something like Cousins punching a coach, or getting arrested for drugs. Maybe John Wall getting caught with his hand in the cookie jar. Thank God Jodie Meeks left last year because UK has 5-6 NBA guys on the roster already. A Bledsoe, Wall, Meeks, Cousins, Patterson lineup would have been disgusting to have to watch.
  10. I despise Kobe and love Jordan, but I can't deny any longer that Kobe is the closest thing to Jordan that the NBA has ever seen. He's not quite on Jordan's level defensively or offensively, but he's damn close. The only player that I could ever see catching or passing MJ at this point is Lebron. But Lebron would have to improve his defense again for this to happen.
  11. National title to NIT, now I know what Florida fans felt like a few years ago.
  12. QUOTE (Heads22 @ Jan 19, 2010 -> 10:36 PM) Staiger quits the Cyclones. Down to 7 scholarship players for Texas Tech tomorrow night: C Hamilton, F Brackins, F Gilstrap, F Dendy, G Garrett, G Christopherson, G Buckley. Don't worry, I'm sure Brackins and Gilsrap will go off for 30 and 15 each.
  13. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Jan 18, 2010 -> 09:51 AM) Tomlin is screwing Kiffins wife! Photographic proof! If it's anything like his coaching, Tomlin will hire someone to screw her for him and he will stand there clapping and saying "Lets go!".
  14. QUOTE (fathom @ Jan 18, 2010 -> 12:24 AM) The blonde in the picture is Kiffin's wife. Nothing to see here to create a scandal, unfortunately. Is it too late create a scandal for Tomlin?
  15. USC must be trying the seldom used double negative tactic. They figure that Kiffin's violations have to cancel out all of USC's violations.
  16. Lane Kiffin to USC according to ESPN. Very fitting. He will clean up that program.
  17. In the only PHF cares department, Texas Tech hired Troy's OC Neal Brown and is getting ready to hire Alabama LB coach James Willis to be the DC. I love the hires, Brown ran the 3rd best offense in the nation yardage wise this year, one spot ahead of Texas Tech's offense. Willis has the credibility, and recruiting ability to be a great hire. Although Notre Dame is trying to poach QB Scotty Young and WR Kadron Boone away.
  18. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Jan 12, 2010 -> 06:13 PM) Come on....USC >>> UNC when it comes to college football. I agree the sanctions are an issue but Butch Davis would be a great hire and I think he'd take the right job (ie, a power-house Football program). Butch likely has less than 5 years of coaching left in him, the USC job wouldn't make much sense. Butch has serious health problems that will only get worse in time.
  19. QUOTE (dasox24 @ Jan 9, 2010 -> 02:50 PM) I'm kinda surprised Brandon Willis recommitted to UT. Sure sounded like UNC would be it earlier today. Definitely excited about that. Plus, Ahmad Dixon committed before the game. Nice day for recruiting. Sorry about Floyd, Rock. I really didn't want him going to Florida. You are now the third team that Dixon has committed to. He's one to watch until signing day.
  20. QUOTE (danman31 @ Jan 9, 2010 -> 02:15 PM) Those e-mails involving the AD, chancellor and a booster are coming true. The booster's line (paraphrasing) 'I promise our chances of getting a better coach are better than him getting a better job.' Tech got a better coach. Where's Leach's better job? Funny how that worked out. Tech got a good coach at a cheaper price. There's still a big Leach rally scheduled for the 14th though, that should be fun. Still, Tuberville is keeping the offense in place, and just adding a defense. LB coach James Willis at Alabama is expected to be the new DC.
  21. QUOTE (Athomeboy_2000 @ Jan 8, 2010 -> 02:57 PM) Pete Carroll may leave USC for Seahawks That would be an excellent choice for both sides. Hiring a failed NFL coach that is known for his recruiting in the college world. Awesome. Carroll has anything he wants at USC, and will leave to coach the Seahawks?
