  1. QUOTE (kjshoe04 @ Mar 14, 2010 -> 08:30 PM) UNC does not deserve a bid to the NIT. I don't care who they are. They were really just flat out awful. Can't argue there. Just found out the NIT game will be in Carmichael "auditorium", the Cameron Indoor before Cameron Indoor. Should be an awesome atmosphere.
  2. LOL, UNC and Texas Tech in the NIT. My dream is complete.
  3. QUOTE (Felix @ Mar 14, 2010 -> 06:54 PM) I don't get not wanting to watch your team when they're playing, regardless of whether it's the NIT or they're playing some s***ty mid-major that has no chance of winning. When the Gophers made the NIT a few years ago, you bet your ass I watched our only game in it and I most certainly rooted for the Gophers. I'm not in the business of ignoring my team while they're playing, EVEN IF the games ultimately mean nothing. I want to watch Texas Tech play in a few more games because they have everyone returning next year and still have some growing pains. Baylor took a great NIT run last year to propel into a #3 seed this year in the tourney, I'm hoping Tech can make somewhat of a similar jump. If UNC was in the tournament, I don't really know that it would do anything for next year. Roy would continue playing the crappy upperclassmen and it wouldn't really do anything.
  4. QUOTE (Palehosefan @ Oct 28, 2009 -> 04:10 PM) I've got a way too early Final 4 of... Michigan State, Texas, Kansas, West Virginia My dark horse is FSU, and my dark, dark horse is Richmond :-). Well I have all 6 of my preseason teams at least in the 2nd round. 2 of my 4 final four picks look good.
  5. QUOTE (whitesoxfan101 @ Mar 14, 2010 -> 06:15 PM) This isn't like football where going to the crap.com bowl at least gets you more practice, which is of the essence in that sport. ?? It's not?
  6. Duke got the worst 2,3, and 4 seed. Big shocker.
  7. Sad I'm actually excited to see Texas Tech play in this. Maybe I will be extra excited and UNC will somehow make it in. Who needs the NCAA tourney anyways.
  8. Well, I have three teams to root for in this years tournament. 1. Anyone playing Kentucky 2. Anyone playing Duke 3. Anyone playing Kansas
  9. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Mar 12, 2010 -> 05:48 PM) James has to spend 10 days in jail. Nope, apparently he gets off because of "overcrowding".
  10. QUOTE (zenryan @ Mar 12, 2010 -> 10:08 PM) The more I watch this tournament, the more I'm convinced only Duke should make the tournament. Everyone else sucks. And poor GT fans. This is exactly why you fire the coach sooner than later. Give the team zero chance to pull something out of their ass. I wouldn't be shocked if no ACC teams made the Sweet 16. Duke will have the best chance, but a #1 vs #8/#9 is going to be really tough for them.
  11. 23 points, 13 rebounds, 7 assists, 2 blocks for Monroe. Ho hum.
  12. QUOTE (SoxAce @ Mar 11, 2010 -> 09:49 PM) Man I thought this was just another girl looking to try and get money out of this.. Looks like I may be wrong. There's no guarantee that Ben is guilty, but the tide has definitely turned against Ben. Hopefully the Steelers will take a guy like Tony Pike with their 52nd pick in the draft. God knows they have been the worst franchise in the NFL at drafting 2nd rounders over the years.
  13. QUOTE (fathom @ Mar 11, 2010 -> 08:05 PM) I should have never underestimated the crappiness of UNC's guards. It's hard to measure just how s***ty this UNC roster is. You have some young talent that Roy just refuses to play, and some upper classmen that just aren't ACC caliber but Roy was in love with them. Just made absolutely no sense.
  14. QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Mar 11, 2010 -> 04:05 PM) I concur Agreed as well, however, New Mexico has one of the higher probabilities of all the high seeds to get knocked off early imo. New Mexico is pretty much a 5-6 seed disguised as a #2 seed because of their schedule.
  15. QUOTE (fathom @ Mar 11, 2010 -> 03:57 PM) Nope, GT fans always like to throw Mark Price's name in the mix, but I was told that's not likely to happen. Since they wouldn't have a lot of money to spend on their new coach, they'd go after a younger guy like Cameron Dollar, Chris Collins, etc. One of the things that sucks about being a GT fan is that a majority of their fans only care about football. They'd rather give raises to the assistant football coaches than to have a competitive basketball team. That's unfortunate because mile for mile, Georgia has the best basketball talent in the nation. Georgia and GT should be in the tourney every year just off of local talent alone.
  16. QUOTE (fathom @ Mar 11, 2010 -> 03:51 PM) What some of the best sources are saying, if they lose tonight and don't make the tourney, they will do everything in their power to fire him. The thing is, that decision has to be made by Monday, or else his contract rolls over another year. If they win tonight and make NCAA Tourney, and then go one and out, the AD will fire all the assistant coaches in an effort to get Hewitt to quit and settle for about half of the remaining contract. Everyone involved with GT wants Hewitt out, and the AD went as far to say last night that everyone knows there's "unique circumstances" relating to the job evaluation of Hewitt. Unique = ridiculous contract signed by previous AD. Sounds like a crappy situation all-around. Any ideas on possible replacements?
  17. If you are looking for overrated teams, look no further than New Mexico. They will likely end up with a #2 or #3 seed and have about as much of a chance of reaching the Sweet 16 as I do of having a baby with Jessica Alba.
  18. So fathom, if Hewitt wins today does that save his job for another year?
  19. QUOTE (fathom @ Mar 11, 2010 -> 03:36 PM) It would be an absolute joke if Wall wins POY. You are preaching the the choir.
  20. QUOTE (ChiSox_Sonix @ Mar 11, 2010 -> 03:31 PM) No way. He's not even in the discussion. He's not aggressive enough and he disappears for long stretches far too often. The guy averages 16 points, 10 rebounds, 4 assists, 1.2 spg, 1.5 bpg against the toughest schedule in the nation. He has to rely on his guards to get him the ball and he doesn't have a distributing PG on the roster. There's not a better big man in the nation.
  21. QUOTE (whitesoxfan99 @ Mar 11, 2010 -> 03:18 PM) Evan Turner and quite frankly I don't think it is close. Turner is fantastic as well, both guys do everything for their squad. I would just take Monroe's season against a tougher schedule and size over Turner. Monroe, Turner, and Demarcus Cousins would be my three finalists. But I know either Wall or Turner will win it.
  22. QUOTE (scenario @ Mar 11, 2010 -> 03:12 PM) That's right. You swore that Scheyer would never get a chance to play, because he would be buried on the bench behind Pocius. :0 No no, I said he would not be better than Gerald Henderson. and that he would be on the bench behind Pocious.
  23. By the way, I still think Greg Monroe is the best player in the nation. Hard to match his scoring, rebounding, assists, blocks, steals, and rugged good looks.
  24. QUOTE (scenario @ Mar 11, 2010 -> 02:49 PM) Tied early in the second half. These two teams always seem to have nail-biter games. I think the last 3 games they've played against each other (combined) have been decided by a total of 5 points. Look at Scenario back in the college basketball threads :-). I remember our Gerald Henderson vs. Jon Scheyer arguments years ago.
  25. QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Mar 10, 2010 -> 10:08 PM) The Big Sky Championship is a pretty fun game to watch. Anthony Johnson is having a once in a life time game. Unreal. Take THAT Harold Arceneaux and Weber State.
