So is anyone with me that this is a good signing in a vacuum outside of any Machado implications? It addresses multiple needs at a very cheap price. Good deal. Yonder Alonso, this isnt.
The Alonso deal would be stupid.
This Jay deal is good regardless of what Machado does. Much needed OBP in the lineup and also plays the biggest position of need. All for next to nothing and hes not blocking anyone.
We're not playing for a draft pick anymore. We dont need to compete but it's time to win some ball games and give these young guys (and fans) some confidence.
Sorry guys. A senior member of the white sox front office was called away from family holiday to finalize something the weekend of Christmas. That was my information, and I dont know what happened from there.
He follows those guys on instagram but everyone he follows is baseball related it seems. Dont think this was recent, believe instagram puts your followers in order.
I was reminded of it because I saw @spataro51 viewing the Harper thread the other day despite not having posted in 9 years. I was hoping he'd post another bombshell, but alas, no dice.
Same reason I said above and why it hasnt happened already even on NBC's own apps. MLB invented a billion dollar behemoth company to handle their live streaming that they still have plenty of equity in it. They're not going to give that up and it won't be up to the individual teams to do so. That said on their own platform they need to resolve mlb.tv blackout issues at some point.
They're partners with disney so yeah they could go with them. But the mouse didn't just give them a billion dollars to have mlb stab them in the back and go with Amazon.
Doubt any time soon. MLB has their own competing media service that theyve already turned into over 1.5 billion dollars and still hold plenty of stake in it.
So an entirely new network from the sounds of it. Cubs are obviously out. Guessing NBC Chicago will be folded into it. Cubs were supposed to sell part of their shares to the Sox so expect the Sox ownership portion to go way up. That should be big money. Hopefully we get some of that Bulls Reinsdorf money too. Screw the independent operating pools and give us Harper.
