  1. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jun 25, 2014 -> 10:32 PM) The runner was going on the pitch...if he (Beckham) wasn't covering the bag, it would have been 1st and 3rd, no outs. (I'm sure Hawk just gave Gordon a shout-out for the Gold Glove Award, even though he has no prayer of winning it). I think he's saying Alexei could have had it on the bag? Don't know.
  2. QUOTE (BigHurt3515 @ Jun 25, 2014 -> 08:41 PM) If the Rockets somehow get Melo and LeBron or just one of them I would be all over Parsons to bring in plus the 2 draft picks and hopefully Mirotic would be a solid off-season even though it would still be considered a bust because of no Love or Melo If we got Parsons and Affalo in that scenario, we'd win the east. Mainly because the East would be horrible sans Lebron.
  3. This is a fun argument so I figure I'd post Chad Ford's GOAT prospect list since Lebron. There's of course no way to prove who is right and I obviously disagree with him too but here it is: 1. Oden 2. Durant 3. Davis 4. Embiid 5. Wiggins 6. Rose 7. Parker No one else in this draft in the top 25 from 2000 on. Of course if you looked at his big boards they tell a different story so me thinks Mr. Ford is also a victim of looking at things retroactively.
  4. QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Jun 25, 2014 -> 07:40 PM) I don't remember reading any articles that Melo was going to have troubles scoring the ball. He was all about offense, just like he was at Syracuse. Sorry read my edit.Melo was a better prospect than either of Parker or Wiggins IMO.
  5. QUOTE (ZoomSlowik @ Jun 25, 2014 -> 07:22 PM) Yes, at the time of the draft. Oden and Durant had significantly more hype at the time and were basically assumed All-Stars. Anthony was pretty close to that level and while people weren't QUITE as thrilled with Davis, there's no way anyone is passing on a big with his length/athleticism/upside. Wiggins and Parker had a ton of hype before the season, but it's died down considerably because they didn't meet those absurd expectations. I find that there are signficantly more articles/discussions about things like Wiggins' lack of offensive polish/killer instinct and Parker's lack of defense/contributing in areas beyond scoring than there are hyping them up. And Durant was wayyy too skinny and Anthony was never going to develop an offensive game. How laughable in retrospect but the very same articles were there. It's easy to forget when they become allstars. While Wiggins didn't live up to expectations I'd still say those same expectations are a big part of the hype he's getting. I'd argue Jabari lived up to the hype but that's me. QUOTE (Boogua @ Jun 25, 2014 -> 07:23 PM) I don't know what you're reading or listening to, but everything I've heard is that there are no top 5 players in the nba type guys in this draft, but tons of all star level talents. There are some pretty big holes in the top two players games. If you really believe that people think this is the best draft has little to do with the potential superstardom I don't know what to tell you. Take Wiggins and Parker out and replace them with depth like two Aaron Gordon clones and you'd laugh at someone saying that. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Jun 25, 2014 -> 07:24 PM) Rose & Beasley were extremely hyped as well. More so coming into the draft then Wiggins / Parker. Nooooo chance. Rose's stock rose way to say that. Edit: I'd even give you Beasley maybe but honestly a lot of his hype was based on making strange parallels to Durant that weren't there. And I meant Anthony Davis above obviously, not Carmelo.
  6. QUOTE (Boogua @ Jun 25, 2014 -> 07:19 PM) The depth of this draft is why people are rating it that high. And also because of the superstar talent at the top.
  7. QUOTE (Boogua @ Jun 25, 2014 -> 07:15 PM) You're overrating their hype. It was much more coming out of high school than it is now. Not really. It's still widely seen as the top draft in 11 years that they are the definite top tier of.
  8. QUOTE (ZoomSlowik @ Jun 25, 2014 -> 07:00 PM) Come on now, Durant and Anthony were better prospects than either of these guys. Davis definitely goes ahead of either of them too, and possibly Griffin. Now a healthy Embiid might have been a different story... At the time of the draft? No way except for maybe Anthony, but that's why I said 11 years. Obviously these guys all ended up working out but hindsight is 20/20. They did not have the hype at the time of the draft that Parker and Wiggins do now. Honestly the right to Greg Oden is the best argument since 2003.
  9. QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ Jun 25, 2014 -> 04:38 PM) Maybe they would. They were going to take Joel Embiid over Wiggins and Parker. Now they could still take him and get other assets as well. That would require knowing Embiid is even there at 4. So you are now trading one of the best wing prospects of all-time for a player you don't even know you'll get. And if you do get him contingently, his career might be over before it even begins. This is simple for the Cavs. They have a nice spot at one where they can't possibly go wrong with. There's way, way, way too many other moving parts to mess with to even consider trading the most valuable draft in 11 years. QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Jun 25, 2014 -> 04:42 PM) ???? Picks 1-4 in this draft are a crapshoot. No, they aren't. That infers Exum has a shot at going above Parker or Wiggins which there isn't.
  10. QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ Jun 25, 2014 -> 05:20 PM) Why wouldn't they take it? That's a good deal. I would stay at #1 and take Wiggins but moving to #4 lets them take Embiid at 4. Then pick again at #12 and acquire Afflalo. That's a horrific deal for one of the two of the best wing prospects of all time. But yeah it is Cleveland. Seriously though, it's the single most valuable draft pick in 11 years. You better get a superstar back if you are trading it.
  11. QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ Jun 25, 2014 -> 05:01 PM) They aren't. I think Cleveland will take Afflalo, #4, and #12 from Orlando for #1 tomorrow night. I would LOL so hard if Cleveland took that.
  12. Felton and Chandler going to the Mavericks it looks like. Calderón, Dalembert, Shane Larkin, and Ellington to NY. Party like it's 2011 Cuban. There aren't many players in the league I'd want less than Felton. Don't know what it means for Melo, but probably doesn't help the Knicks.
  13. QUOTE (scs787 @ Jun 25, 2014 -> 04:11 PM) Not surprising, but have these been wrong before? Seems to me like they have. Yeah and this it looks like a definite place holder since WWE doesn't reuse images like they are doing here.
  14. Anyone see that Brad Maddox video? What the hell? I mean I'm 99% sure it's a work but don't go telling your viewers to call the police Brad.
  15. QUOTE (ChiSox_Sonix @ Jun 25, 2014 -> 01:07 PM) No he didn't. He was running alongside him and the Greek player kicked the defenders leg on his back swing then kicked the ground and fell. The defender never attempted a tackle. It was incidental contact at best, a complete dive at worst. You seem to be the only one who thinks that's not a penalty. Just watch the gif I posted man all I can say.
  16. I don't think Lavine goes past 14 ish but I'm not sure I'd even want him at 19.
  17. QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Jun 25, 2014 -> 11:43 AM) I cant comprehend why in the world you would want to move up for McDermott or Stauskas when they are going to be as good (if not better) options available at the Bulls 2 picks. Id take 1 of Ennis/Napier then your choice of Lavine/Anderson/Payne/Hood. Dont really like trading up unless its for a top 5. where your worst case scenario is Randall/Embiid/Exum Agreed with your first part. Moving up to grab Stauskas would be horrific. I don't think Hood falls to 16, or out of the lottery for that matter. Espn mock today had Bulls taking Ennis and Hood. That's best case scenario IMO. I'd throw Payne in there as well. I wouldn't mind trading up to tenish. In a deep draft one of the big names like Gordon is bound to fall at least a little. But I'd probably wait and see until draft time.
  18. So yeah Nigeria vs Arhentina is 1-1 3 minutes in. What a World Cup.
  19. I guess my post is more on topic here: I thought Hot Fire was deemed infinitely forever the worst nickname ever no matter what anyone could come up with. I'm not going to justify it with caps. Meanwhile Business as Rasual is the best nickname ever from Soxtalk even if it's non baseball related. I admit I had a hard chuckle over hearing Blowasavio. I like it.
