Exactly, and he’s worth a shot for a non-contender. For a team like the Sox that should be WS or Bust next year, they need a more valuable player in that position. And no, I’m not talking about big bucks for Springer.

It baffles me anyone would consider bringing him back for next year. What have you seen to think he has the potential to even meet the minimal success he had before this season?

In a season like this without fans, his swagger and energy really helps the team. It was evident how much he means to the team when he was out.

I only saw the first inning, but did he really show that much in the innings that followed to be thrown into that role? If so, that’s great for not only this year but for the future. From the little I saw, he would be behind Lopez.

Every player goes to the same hitting coach or pitching coach now. Every kid has the same swing and focus on exit velocity and pitchers try to max out their velocity.

Not to derail the thread but as a parent with kids who do travel baseball, it’s almost impossible to have them play additional sports.

At least I know I will have one person who supports this, but advanced metrics say Mendick has been a better player. Madrigal is a good fit on a superstar team as the 9 hitter, but it’s going to be hard for him to ever put up big WAR numbers, IMO. He’s not someone that is going to break the bank in arbitration.
