QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Dec 17, 2017 -> 11:19 PM) I think this is all coming from the Orioles. The Rosenthal piece has already been debunked, as we never offered/will not offer Kopech. Cafardo is rarely right about anything, ever. I believe Baltimore has just been pushing stuff out there to posture. What purpose would it serve for their board insider to posture?

QUOTE (Scoots @ Dec 17, 2017 -> 11:01 PM) Yeah, that won't happen. I recall Ken Rosenthal saying the Orioles are a very difficult and unpredictable team to deal with. Very different operations than most other clubs. They might ask for something like a Gio and Lopez, then do some negotiating with Hahn, be right at the brink of getting a deal done, then pull back at the last second. This might be one of those we gotta see it to believe it cases happening. What concerns me is it's from their so-called insider, jives with what Rosenthal initially reported and falls in line with what Cafardo reported

QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ Dec 17, 2017 -> 10:22 PM) Went on the O's board and they have a member claiming to be in the know saying this: "No idea on specific offers. Haven’t been told yet. Just that offers got significantly better last night and talks really progressed. Haven’t seen anyone say anything on social media yet or any reports out there, but it will be coming." Saw that post and same guy mentioned Giolito AND Lopez

QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Dec 17, 2017 -> 09:26 PM) I read a blog where the guy said a fair price would be Hansen, Fulmer, and Burger. To me, that seems about right. A top 100, a guy who struggled, and a relative unknown. What type of monetary value would you put on that package? If the Dodgers had the Sox farm system, would you take those 3 to take all of Matt Kemp's money? If so, the price to acquire Machado to get him to love the culture, with his salary, would approach $60 million. Would just outbidding everyone by $60 million work better, and keep the prospects? I Use that package to get Yelich, not a rental. Hahn should be fired if he gives those 3 up and doesn't lock up Manny
-
Duquette isn't an idiot. He knows he could get a better prospect than Cease at the deadline. Also, for some reason I don't think Angelos would be a fan of Cease's medical history.

QUOTE (Baron @ Dec 17, 2017 -> 06:42 PM) The offers shouldnt be expected to go to high because he has 1 year left. What does far better equate to? Lopez? Yes Lopez and Anderson, with Anderson then being packaged to try and get Duffy
-
QUOTE (Baron @ Dec 17, 2017 -> 07:37 PM) It doesnt seem like they have though Again, says who? It's why I think the Sox offer is far better than Cease as the main piece

QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Dec 17, 2017 -> 07:32 PM) What teams have the need, the cash to make a quality contract offer, & the prospect currency to get a deal done? I’m being serious, I don’t really see that many teams that make sense. The Yankees may be the only AL team that meets all three criteria and Baltimore won’t deal with them. Who else from the NL makes sense beyond the Cardinals? I expect the Phillies to be involved, but they’re outliers just like us. I’m just not seeing the matches here. Supposedly ten offers have been made. I'm sure at least one team can offer better than a top 90-100 pitching prospect and a mid-level prospect.
-
QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Dec 17, 2017 -> 05:38 PM) Why do you think this? Because a lot of teams could easily beat a Cease and Adams package. My guess is it's Lopez and Anderson.
-
QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ Dec 17, 2017 -> 04:23 PM) The most I would offer for Machado is Cease and Adams. I read somewhere that Cafardo reported Sox offer was based off of current major leaguers. Don't quote me on that though. I still think the offer is way more than many think on here.
-
QUOTE (oldsox @ Dec 17, 2017 -> 02:42 AM) That deal makes more sense than any Sox deal I have seen here. Trading Russell and his control for one year of Manny makes no sense either, especially if Harper is your long-term guy
-
QUOTE (SonofaRoache @ Dec 16, 2017 -> 11:11 PM) This thread is in dire need of a rumor. I'm sure everyone has seen that there's more talk on twitter the last 24 hours about Cubs going after him than the Sox

Dodgers trade Adrian Gonzalez, BMac, Kazmir, Culberson
fathom replied to Heads22's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Great trade for both. Hope this means Dodgers get Bryce -
Let me guess, Yankees reached out to their former player and said he should file a 350 million dollar lawsuit against the Sox

QUOTE (SouthSideSale @ Dec 15, 2017 -> 11:15 PM) Nightengale on MLBN now Any recap? Thanks
-
https://mobile.twitter.com/BNightengale/sta...%7Ctwgr%5Etweet Not sure if he meant WSox instead of Cubs or he's implying they want him now/free agency
-
QUOTE (Knackattack @ Dec 15, 2017 -> 09:38 PM) Take it fwiw but my boss grew up playing with Machado and they were pretty good friends, said Manny is the type of guy who just wants to hit HR and get paid. Dont think he has a preference whre but he is probably gonna take best offer available $ wise Well Sox are screwed because Renteria thinks home runs can be rally killers
-
QUOTE (Lillian @ Dec 15, 2017 -> 10:01 PM) Being able to gauge Machado's values and preferences, regarding for what city and team, he would like to play, would certainly help here. If the suggestion that he really wants to play for the Yankees has any validity, this whole strategy is folly. In the absence of some suggestion that he would be open to playing on the South Side, giving up anyone, who is considered part of the organization's future, for a one year rental, would be foolish. Maybe that's why he's leaking the Yanks info to some people in order to avoid being traded?
-
QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Dec 15, 2017 -> 10:40 PM) Think of what the Sox had to give up for 1 year of Samardzija, and add some more. That is what their package must look like. Yep in reality Sox should be just about the last team to be inquiring

2017-2018 MLB player movement rumors and reports
fathom replied to southsider2k5's topic in Pale Hose Talk
I know you all love my Cubs rumors, but supposedly they are strong contenders for Yu -
QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Dec 15, 2017 -> 10:22 PM) I don't believe a word of the Yankee fanboys "it's his dream to come here, and sources say he'l take a huge discount to do so!" nonsense. I think Hahn gets this deal done, perhaps over the weekend. Hopefully a year here will make him more likely to sign with us. I doubt we'd flip him to a team like New York in July unless it's absolutely certain that he doesn't want to spend his career here. Well it's far more likely his dream would be to play in NY on a super team than love the culture of the WSox
-
I also have a feeling Angelos will never agree to trade him to the Sox. He's too paranoid Hahn would then trade him. Angelos is so stubborn, he's voided deals for far dumber reasons
-
QUOTE (shipps @ Dec 15, 2017 -> 10:19 PM) Honestly, think about the market at the deadline for a contending team looking to add a special offensive player to put them over the top. He may be the number one guy depending on how he performs for us, we may be able to net a better return then what we gave up to the orioles. Its possible. But that's also why I suspect the offers now are way better than many suspect on here. Why wouldn't Orioles just hold on to him until the deadline?
-
If Machado is sending out feelers he only wants to go to Yankees, Hahn better have a plan in mind to how he will offload him back to NY if it's clear he won't want to stay here
-
Seeing on twitter that Yanks announcer Michael Kay said today that Machado wants to sign with Yankees next offseason
