QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jan 6, 2016 -> 04:31 PM) Just wait until we lose Cespedes. If we get him, great. If not, easy to live with not paying him 100 million dollars based off of a career year at 30
-
QUOTE (WhiteSoxLifer @ Jan 6, 2016 -> 03:11 PM) The mlb network hot stove guys thought this too. With pagan a free agent next they could play fowler in left and then slide him over to cf next year And that Pagan is god awful now
-
QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jan 6, 2016 -> 03:12 PM) We are really good at finishing "this close" but just out of the running. 2nd place. They landed their main target this year in Frazier.
-
QUOTE (ChiSoxFanMike @ Jan 6, 2016 -> 04:02 PM) I have a feeling that the O's will get Upton and the Sox will get Cespedes. Always felt Fowler to Giants makes a lot of sense also.
-
QUOTE (Joshua Strong @ Jan 6, 2016 -> 03:56 PM) The Royals re-signing Gordon, prevents the Sox from making a huge mistake. Gordon is in the decline of his career and not worth a comp pick. MLB Network just said that Hosmer, Cain and Moustakas are all free agents in 2017. Their run could be ending. Well said

QUOTE (Frank_Thomas35 @ Jan 6, 2016 -> 03:54 PM) And also if this was true I'd think we would have Cespedes on the team already... Couldn't disagree more. Absolutely no reason for Cespedes to sign with anyone yet. Orioles having money to spend and not bringing back Davis yet is a huge issue.
-
QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ Jan 6, 2016 -> 03:49 PM) IMO, has to happen by the end of this week. A deal with Upton or Cespedes has to be reached asap so other teams don't begin to come in. I honestly believe getting Span and a starting pitcher might be the optimal solution. Really just don't want the Sox to settle for Parra.
-
QUOTE (southside hitman @ Jan 6, 2016 -> 03:43 PM) That sucks Doesn't sound like he ever had real interest in going elsewhere
-
Well, I never did want him, but it would be nice to get Cespedes now
-
QUOTE (Frank_Thomas35 @ Jan 6, 2016 -> 02:24 PM) Wow this dude might end up calling this after all. Never would have thought AG would be first. So if this is true it's sh** or get off the pot time for the sox. Now there'll be a whole lot of other teams in on Cespedes, who if the Gordon gets 4/$70, would have to get more than a 3 year deal. I'm preparing to be disappointed. Given the KC guy's connections, it seemed all along he had some pretty good inside information.
-
QUOTE (Dunt @ Jan 6, 2016 -> 03:20 PM) Sox better go hard after Cespedes if Gordon does in fact go back to KC today. Like, sign him by the end of the week hard. Cespedes likely won't sign until Chris Davis is off the board.

Clubhouse Convo @royalsclubhouse 3m3 minutes ago If you're playing Keno today, stay close to the numbers 4 and 70.

QUOTE (OmarComing25 @ Jan 4, 2016 -> 10:38 PM) Hearing what about Upton? I assume he means Angels are going hard after Upton

@Jaypers413 (IL): Where would Montas, Johnson and Thompson have ranked? Matt Eddy: All three appear in the Prospect Handbook in the White Sox chapter. RHP Frankie Montas ranks No. 3, OF Trayce Thompson No. 5 and Micah Johnson No. 8. Montas could be ready for a bullpen role in 2016 if the Dodgers pursue that option. Rival talent evaluators seemed to place stock in Thompson's two-month stretch in the majors, so he might have found a new level. Johnson will be a fine NL player, especially if he can learn to play LF and CF as well as 2B. If he doesn't reach his ceiling as a table-setter at least he would have pinch-hit and pinch-run value.

No worries yet. Not sure I want any of these guys come 2019 anyways at more than 20 million
-
Game reminds me a lot of ND vs Clemson. ND finally realized they can pass at will.
-
QUOTE (ptatc @ Dec 31, 2015 -> 09:37 PM) I agree. He really seems to want to stay in KC. However, if there offer is really low, he will come up with something. 1. He couldn't pass it up. 2. Sox are doing alot of good things. 3. Still close to his home in Neb. - Wife loves Chicago - Wants Hawk to call a home run of his - Glad to not face Sale anymore
-
If the Sox do sign Gordon, it would be interesting to hear what the reasons are that he would say in his press conference.
-
QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Dec 31, 2015 -> 09:32 PM) And specifically saying he wanted to play with the Cubs' young core and Maddon as opposed to a theoretically better deal in terms of total guaranteed dollars from the Cards. When he used proof of the Cardinals losing their core and listed Jon Jay and Tony Cruz, it made my BS radar go off

The next market inefficiency...2nd/3rd tier pitching

QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Dec 31, 2015 -> 09:13 PM) For the same reason every outfielder has seemingly come down in price by 25%...too much supply, and too many additional outfielders available simultaneously at discount on the trade market. How can he get that much based on his 2015 season? Especially from an AL team...? Which outfielder's price has come down 25%? -
QUOTE (ptatc @ Dec 31, 2015 -> 08:17 PM) According to all media accounts, he was offered more money elsewhere. If this is true then there were others things that played into signing the contract with the cubs. Yes, substantially more money the first 3 years of the deal with an earlier opt-out than other clubs were offering.
-
QUOTE (ptatc @ Dec 31, 2015 -> 08:11 PM) Ask Jason Heyward. Despite what the Chicago media likes to report, his contract is hardly a discount. He'll make way more money in the long run with the Cubs contract structure.

QUOTE (peavy44 @ Dec 31, 2015 -> 08:08 PM) What If gordon don't wanna come to the white sox and takes kc offer of 4 years 60 million. Then he likely was never going to come here no matter what.
-
QUOTE (peavy44 @ Dec 31, 2015 -> 08:55 PM) If we don't get gordon Cespedes might sign with the tigers, giants, angels. And I guarantee every fan of those teams think the Sox will get Cespedes if they don't get Gordon

Why in the world would Parra sign that deal? He's going to get something like 3/40, yet you project 1/8-10?
