  1. Yeah, not sure this Texas thing is working for Charlie Strong
  2. QUOTE (Mike F. @ Oct 3, 2015 -> 04:49 PM) Switch Torres with Russell and I'd consider it, but again, it would be very depressing to see him pitch for the Cubs. Ha, you'd just "consider" it for Bryant, Schwarber, Russell and Baez?
  3. My way-too-early opening day starting lineup prediction for Sox: CF- Eaton 3B- Prado 1B- Abreu LF- Melky C- Wieters DH- LaRoche RF- Thompson SS- Ramirez 2B- Sanchez SP- Sale 3 main offseason acquisitions will be Wieters, Prado (trade) and Buehrle
  4. QUOTE (oldsox @ Oct 3, 2015 -> 03:00 PM) Betts is untouchable, for sure. Probably Bogaerts and the two Cuban kids, too. Yep, Betts quietly had a great year (5 WAR). I've said all along it would have to be a package of something like Betts, E. Rodriguez, Swihart and a good prospect. Unfortunately I don't think Boston would do something like that.
  5. Marte Party....makes up for not being on the Sox
  6. 2nd out of inning was one of the worst strike calls I have seen
  7. QUOTE (Mike F. @ Oct 3, 2015 -> 02:53 AM) Agreed. The BABIP monster killed him this year, but he still didn't have a bad season by any means. Less BAPIP and more the HR ball killed him
  8. QUOTE (Mike F. @ Oct 3, 2015 -> 02:36 AM) I'd be content with a 250 K with a 3.10 ERA season for him next year. If Sox want to contend he needs to be a top pitcher. No reason he can't get his ERA back down in the 2.3-2.6 range.
  9. Congrats....stay away from pick up trucks and win CY next year
  10. Next year should be do or die for Ventura and Hahn. They clearly want to go for it again, so there needs to be good transactions and Ventura needs them ready out of the gate.
  11. QUOTE (Mike F. @ Oct 3, 2015 -> 01:20 AM) I'll take a slight decrease in K's if it can improve his ERA by a little bit next year. A full run is more than a little.
  12. QUOTE (Mike F. @ Oct 3, 2015 -> 02:02 AM) I've noticed that Sale is much more effective when he pitches to contact like he's been doing in the past inning or so. When he tries to strike everyone out, he tends to make mistakes with his fastball and then gives up homers. Yep don't think it's a coincidence his best K year has led to a 3.5 era
  13. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Oct 1, 2015 -> 02:00 AM) The Reds have had a rookie starting pitcher in 59 consecutive games and 105 overall this season. http://grantland.com/the-triangle/mlb-cinc...-walt-jocketty/ And going to likely end their 12 game losing streak as Liriano pitching as if he was back on the White Sox
  14. QUOTE (greg775 @ Oct 2, 2015 -> 10:33 PM) Whatever ... I hope Robin changes a bit. Obviously talent is the biggest thing for a manager. But his teams simply cannot lay down a bunt (reflects poorly on him), they do not play defense, they cannot move runners, they cannot score runners. He does a decent enough job with pitchers (maybe Coop takes care of that). Now maybe it's 100 percent on his players. Who knows? But Robin's teams APPEAR very undisciplined, very fundamentally unsound. He deserves a D for this season, C- at best but I'd give him a D. Nicely done
  15. QUOTE (flavum @ Oct 2, 2015 -> 08:39 PM) You knew it was coming, but today is really bothering me as a fan. Same stale franchise. If they suck again next year, the new GM should get the chance to hire his new manager
  16. QUOTE (greg775 @ Oct 2, 2015 -> 07:10 PM) Not trying to start a fight, just defend myself and Ozzie. So the Sox fire Parent with a weekend to go of meaningless games. I guess Hahn quit on the team by removing somebody before all games were played. Uh ... this is meaningless just like Ozzie leaving with a week to go meant NOTHING. Both teams sucked beyond belief and it mattered not. I don't know why Robin would want to stay BTW. This team is going to suck again next year. Why does he want to manage bad hitting and defensive players. Good try but this is nothing like the Ozzie situation
  17. Scott Merkin ‏@scottmerkin 13h13 hours ago Chicago, IL Danks said he's never had a better teammate than Abreu. Many players are tied with Abreu for that honor in Danks' mind, but none better
  18. QUOTE (flavum @ Oct 2, 2015 -> 05:24 PM) Merkin floating the name Raul Ibanez as a possibility. as DH? Cool, anyone but LaRoche
  19. QUOTE (pettie4sox @ Oct 1, 2015 -> 04:17 AM) Robertson needs to find his Yankee self. Fastball has flattened out this season.
  20. Robertson's fastball continues to look like batting practice. Ugh, such a bad call at the waiver deadline.
  21. Robertson throwing change ups tonight
  22. Blown away by how good Lindor and Sano look
  23. I wonder if Hawk knows the Sox have substantially more bloop hits this year than the Royals. Great tweet out there with bloop totals on the year...can't link it but saw it on Bernstein's twitter https://mobile.twitter.com/ScottLindholm/st...382696934752256
  24. Avi should spend all next year in the minors completely renovating his swing
