At the time Sanchez was raking in AAA. It wasn't a bad move considering how bad Johnson was defensively. He was terrible.
Which goes back to the inability of this organization to develop anyone on the offensive side.
Eaton's extension is scary right now, as it seems like he's already pissing off some people in the org. I actually like him and hope he turns it around.

I'm not saying Rick Hahn is an amazing, top-five GM or anything. I'm just annoyed at all of the comments blaming him instead of the players/coaches.
He did nothing to improve the defense coming into the season. They had to have known how much of a butcher Johnson was at 2nd

I loved the Bonifacio signing. Ideally, he would have 125+ games under his belt by the end of the year because he'd be the primary backup 2B/SS/3B/LF/CF/RF. Instead, we screwed things up by signing Beckham and basically eliminating Bonifacio's role.
Bonifacio has played all season like an alien came and stole all his ability. If they can't trade him soon, he will probably be DFA'd
Just like with Ventura, it can't hurt to see if somehow they get lucky and someone else can help turn things around. Even seeing minimal improvement the rest of the way would be nice, as it's somehow getting worse by the week.

Robertson has been quite good, but so has Papelbon the last few years, and he is still a Phillie.
I think the return for Robertson would be slight. A couple B / 45 FV guys.
Well, Amaro Jr. is crazy

It won't be Bell, and it wouldn't matter anyway.
Say they fire Ventura tonight... Are you actually looking at results the rest of the season? Of course not.
Don't care about wins/losses, but looking to see if there's more of a spark and improvement in fundamentals. It's worth a shot, as nothing positive is happening with the team right now in general.
Robertson and cash to Toronto for Stroman and Pompey
That's the type of trade I think the Sox should be looking at. Freeing up some salary while bringing in guys who are close to the majors.
Thing is, Ventura might be the greatest manager in the world. However, it's not working with this team/organization. They've played horrible baseball ever since they collapsed down the stretch a few years ago. It's beyond time for a change. It's a lot easier to fire coaches than it is every player that isn't performing.
QUOTE (Baron @ Jun 20, 2015 -> 03:41 AM)
Good news is we'll get a nice press conference from Robin telling us he's tired of talking about losing and all the players know this is bad. So it's all good.
He needs to start borrowing quotes from Lovie. " This sun will come up tomorrow" or my favorite "We'll go from there"
"Melky is my #2 hitter"
Melky's played this year like he's 45 years old. Absolutely no bat speed. He has to cheat on every pitch to even try and pull the ball, which he can only do consistently on offspeed pitches.

I stand by this comment. Hopefully Eaton here can save our asses, but I think pulling Sale was an incredibly stupid decision.
Sale's health is more important that finishing with 71 wins instead of 70

And Greg called him "The best closer in baseball" yesterday. I laughed.
He's the 4th best closer in the division, right?
