QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Aug 8, 2015 -> 04:08 AM) Really? Even I'd PH for Flowers here. I will say that having Bonifacio and Beckham on the bench to go with Leury is a complete joke. The reluctance of the Sox to cut ties with Bonifacio at this point of the season is crazy to me.

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Aug 8, 2015 -> 04:08 AM) Really? Even I'd PH for Flowers here. He's looked good tonight. I'm fine with him hitting, even though he looks lost here.

KC fans I've seen on twitter this year hate that their 3rd best reliever is their closer.

Goodness, he destroyed that!

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Aug 8, 2015 -> 02:58 AM) His delivery reminded me of McCarthy. It's really quick and he flies through it. Didn't make me think of Danks. He's not as lanky so it's like he just starts and explodes forwards. Fulmer does everything quickly. He has an incredible pickoff move for a RHP

QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ Aug 8, 2015 -> 02:58 AM) Well, Jones looked fantastic. If he's healthy, an 8th-9th inning of him and Robertson is nasty. Yep, at this point, don't abuse him and get him comfortable in the set-up role going into next year. I actually do trust the Sox to handle him well.

QUOTE (CaliSoxFanViaSWside @ Aug 8, 2015 -> 02:56 AM) L.Ron said earlier Danks delivery is max effort and that could describe Fulmer from what I've been reading and because of that some see him as a reliever. He night need a few years before we see him at the big league level. I can't see him changing his mechanics much, so I'm sure they'll keep him as a starter and just hope for the best.

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Aug 8, 2015 -> 02:56 AM) There we go, 100. Does he look really uncomfortable to you after he releases the ball?

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Aug 8, 2015 -> 02:55 AM) Is he seriously pairing a slider varying between 90 and 93 with a 99 mph fastball? Gameday is saying the 90 mph pitch is a changeup. All I know is the sliders he threw to Morales were incredible.

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Aug 8, 2015 -> 02:52 AM) Nasty. I like. Holy smokes, just hope he's ok. Seems to be smirking.

QUOTE (harkness @ Aug 8, 2015 -> 02:52 AM) ehhh... Trayce looks pretty stiff up there. Can't say I agree with that. His swing/approach has always been stiff. He's so tall and lanky, some of his actions look strange.

QUOTE (oldsox @ Aug 8, 2015 -> 02:50 AM) Not sure of the rule on that ground rule double by Trayce. I think that ball hit the left fielder before it bounced into the stands. Should be two bases from there. nope, if it's a deflection like that, it doesn't count as possession.

QUOTE (greg775 @ Aug 8, 2015 -> 02:50 AM) Second and third nobody out and that happens? LOL. Saladino - overmatched, whiff. Abreu - clueless on the strikeout pitch way outside of the zone; waved at it like a complete stiff. Melky - nice little drive to right; Royals have Sox scouted perfectly; Rios makes it look harder than it was. LOL. Failure. Bad teams don't score in that situation; we have a bad team! duh

QUOTE (CaliSoxFanViaSWside @ Aug 8, 2015 -> 02:48 AM) That's it, golden opportunity and nothing to show for it just like earlier in the year. At least Trayce is 2-2. I have higher hopes for him than I do Saladino.

QUOTE (SouthSideSale @ Aug 8, 2015 -> 02:37 AM) I want a bat this offseason. If we spend big money on Shark and not a bat I'm going to be pissed off. Not a huge bat, but I think Derek Norris for catcher could make sense. Padres have Hedges waiting to take over.

QUOTE (CaliSoxFanViaSWside @ Aug 8, 2015 -> 02:41 AM) Gotta go up the middle or left center Sally Seems like Saladino is in-between a lot on his swings.

QUOTE (L. Ron Paultard @ Aug 8, 2015 -> 02:38 AM) OK help me out here. I haven't seen much of the Sox last several years, but as a kid followed them closely (this board too. Is Fulmer legit? Tim Lincecum or glorified Danish? tnx Way more Lincecum-ish than Danish. Fulmer absolutely dominated the best conference in the NCAA. Biggest concern with him, IMO, is his mediocre command. I'm excited about his potential, but I have a feeling his first year will resemble Rodon's this year.

Flowers has looked incredible tonight. Definitely shortened his stroke.

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Aug 8, 2015 -> 02:25 AM) Hopefully we stop pretending this roster is ready to compete right now and ask what it will take to make a sustainable, multi-year run. Full speed straight ahead, even though the pitching staff is likely to have a lot of trouble next year if they're counting on Rodon/Danks/Johnson/Fulmer to team with Q and Sale.

Going into last Thursday, the Sox and Cubs were both 2.5 games out of the 2nd wild card. If the Sox go on to lose tonight, the Cubs will have made up 4 games on that total while the Sox lost 3.5 on that total. Needless to say, the last week has sucked.

Potential Ventura replacements
QUOTE (greg775 @ Aug 8, 2015 -> 02:07 AM) I think Robin is a laughingstock in baseball. Everybody knows he has no business managing. Case in point: Hawk never goes out of his way to support Robin, never. He doesn't ever hint he should be fired, but often says the Sox "have the talent." I can't prove it, but Hawk knows Robin is substandard. He gawn after this season. Robin and Matt Williams should go hang out next season in the "very good 3b but awful manager" suite.
