  1. Infante now leading for 2nd base for ASG. 8 of the 9 starting spots to KC players. I didn't know that greg is the only person allowed to vote
  2. Saw this lineup earlier.....that's just incredibly ugly. Against someone like Liriano, just tell everyone but Abreu/Avi not to swing. This team desperately needs to DFA Bonifacio and get another bat on the roster.
  3. QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 15, 2015 -> 08:05 PM) Anyone have the data on the distance of the average fly ball Melky hit the last few years compared to this season? To answer my own question, it doesn't look like there's a significant difference from Melky's average fly ball distance over the last two years (according to Baseball Heat Map)
  4. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Jun 15, 2015 -> 07:23 PM) Interesting that the Pads and Sox, two of the off-season darlings, and both underperforming. Black is gone and as far as I'm concerned, he's a much better manager then Ventura (but I am a big Bud Black fan). All that said, his team was .500 just a day ago. Padres have had some bad injuries this year (Myers, Alonso, Morrow) as well as some of the same black holes that the Sox have (2B/SS)
  5. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jun 15, 2015 -> 08:14 PM) He has hit into a lot of bad luck, and has been bad when not doing that. It happens. To think he has nothing left and the numbers he has now is basically his ceiling is something the people certain of this will never actually put money on. Yes, he's absolutely hit a lot of line drives right at the outfielder. My concern is that he lacks the power to get it over the outfielder's head consistently now, which is resulting in so many hard hit outs. In the past, maybe those would have left the yard/hit the fence. He doesn't seem to pull the ball in the air very often. With all the concerns we've mentioned, I think we can all agree his swing from the right side is completely broken.
  6. QUOTE (ChiSox59 @ Jun 15, 2015 -> 07:06 PM) Melky was busted for PEDs in 2012. He had 1000 plate appearances after getting caught in which he put up an OPS + of 119. It's not the roids. And now he has the worst ISO in all of baseball. From 80th place last year in all of baseball to dead last.
  7. QUOTE (ChiSox59 @ Jun 15, 2015 -> 08:02 PM) A guy that has has been a 124 OPS+ hitter the past four years doesn't fall off a cliff over the course of an offseason. Yes, Melky has been horrible, no doubt. But he is not a sunk cost. Anyone have the data on the distance of the average fly ball Melky hit the last few years compared to this season?
  8. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jun 15, 2015 -> 07:58 PM) John Danks has been worth 0.4 fWAR so far this season. You can probably believe that, he's had a couple solid starts so he's not great but has helped in a few games. Melky Cabrera has been worth -0.8 fWAR so far this season. He's been that bad. You may have confidence in him turning it around, but at the rate he's going right now he's "Worth less than nothing". He could be better than this and still make John Danks look like a bargain. If a team was willing to take on Melky's contract right now and the Sox get nothing in return, I think the Sox would jump at that deal. More than maybe anyone else in baseball, there are questions about Melky's ability without performance-enhancers. If so far what we've seen is the clean version of Melky, then his contract is going to be a huge albatross.
  9. QUOTE (daggins @ Jun 15, 2015 -> 06:37 PM) Yeah not sure if his answer was facetious or not but Gallo is an extremely valuable property. He isn't enough by himself but as the headliner in a package of player, that's pretty pretty pretty good He'd already be 4th on the Sox in homers and tied for 7th in walks if he was on the team this year. Not bad for 21 year old 3rd baseman.
  10. QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Jun 15, 2015 -> 05:19 AM) If we trade Chris Sale, I probably would stop following the White Sox this season. No return is fair. Unless you're getting back proven stars, you don't trade a top five player in baseball on a ridiculously cheap contact. If Dodgers want to trade Joc, Seager and Urias for him....then I'm fine trading him
  11. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jun 15, 2015 -> 03:01 AM) They showed no patience last offseason and that's set us back at least a year, maybe more. Maybe my favorite post in a while on here!!
  12. QUOTE (greg775 @ Jun 15, 2015 -> 04:47 AM) I wouldn't trade Sale or Abreu. Why can't Sox do what I've been advocating for a month? Trade everybody not named Sale, Abreu, Avisail? Or at least trade Melky, Shark, Robertson, Lexi, LaRoche, Duke. I guarantee you Hahn could get a ton of players for these guys. Get the right players and we might have something to look forward to next year. I think the Royals actually might take Melky after the Rios fiasco. We get Colon in a deal for Melky and Beckham or Soto and maybe we're off and running. What's your obsession with Christian Colon? Also, you basically want them to trade everyone they acquired this offseason. Why would you then trust them to make a good trade if you believe a lot of the new additions were bad choices?
  13. Cubs now 6 games better than the Sox. A lot of that is due to better defense and base running.
  14. Why would you pitch to Castro there? 12th walkoff for luckiest team I have seen this year. They had no business winning tonight.
  15. QUOTE (lord chas @ Jun 15, 2015 -> 04:12 AM) Reds load bases in 9th no outs get nothing. here comes the 57th walk off Cubs win Frazier hits top of fence in center. You could see the magic escape coming with the Reds AAA hitters coming up. Cubs have a giant horse shoe up their ass.
  16. Amazing how the Sox get screwed on every borderline instant replay, but the Cubs get the benefit of the doubt.
  17. QUOTE (Joshua Strong @ Jun 14, 2015 -> 11:55 PM) I believe that if the Sox are out of it at the deadline not only should they try to bring in some young talent into the system, but I believe that they should be hoping for the highest draft pick possible, that could do some serious wonders for the org. Let me say that I think the team should be in the mix for the division in 2016, but with another high draft pick and what not they could open and prolong their window. Theo Epstein always said that if your team is out of it after the deadline, you might as well hope for the highest draft pick possible. If they fall out of contention and trade away some of the veterans, you won't have to root for them to lose. Their roster would be so weak, the losses would pile up. Don't forget Rodon will likely not pitch the last month or so as well, which means it's possible to have 3/5 of your rotation be something like Danks, Beck and Johnson/Carroll if Samardzija gets traded.
  18. If that's optimism, I'd hate to see what a pessimistic view would be be like.
  19. This team is so disappointing. No one to Blame but the players when they become sellers in a month
  20. I don't think Vince Coleman is going to put 2015 white sox base running consultant on his resume
  21. They keep chasing and jamming themselves on inside pitches.
  22. Melky extra base hit!
  23. Nice low pitch inning
  24. Big inning for Sale here, the top of Tampa's order has hurt us this series.
