QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Jun 8, 2015 -> 09:11 PM) Swanson takes Jay deep Jay hasn't been impressive. Fastball seems flat.

Jay appears to be a fly ball pitcher. Some good swings by the righties off him.

QUOTE (flavum @ Jun 8, 2015 -> 09:25 PM) Jackson hasn't played in almost a month, so there's a chance he couldn't swing or something. Shoulder issues all year

QUOTE (IowaSoxFan @ Jun 8, 2015 -> 09:07 PM) That adds legitimacy to the Astros going underslot significantly at number two (Benitendi is the rumored target) and using the savings to go over slot with Cameron while going full slot on Tucker at number 5. Bregman supposed to go with their first pick

Matt Dominguez
I say no, just because I used to always get him and Matt Davidson confused!

QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Jun 8, 2015 -> 08:56 PM) Haha..shows what I remember. I had remember writing about Trout and really being a fan of his. Selective memory haha. Evidently I also suggested we should draft Garrett Richards. Too bad they didn't do that either, haha. And foolishly, I didn't want Trout because I thought he would be in the mold of Rowand.

Interesting that there are significant rumors suggesting Cameron will go to the Astros with their 3rd pick, #37.

QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Jun 8, 2015 -> 07:46 PM) That might be more the LA Times making more of it. he signed for slot and was never viewed as a top 10 pick and largely went roughly where everyone had him pegged (in the 20's). Have a hard time saying teams passed on him cause of demands and he handed given some indication that he didn't have one of those Stanford commits where guys legitimately fall because they plan on going to college. http://www.soxtalk.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=72142 You actually had posted this: Oh and one guy the Sox have been linked to, Prep Outfielder Mike Trout (no strong ties, more tied to them based upon needs by other columnists), is demanding $2.5M, which is .1M less than Beckham got.

IIRC, Baseball America was reporting his signing demands were scaring off some teams as well. I think I saw that when going through the 2009 draft thread on this site a few weeks ago.

QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Jun 8, 2015 -> 07:33 PM) Trout didn't have any ridiculous demands associated with him, at least not that I was aware of. From the linked article: Word before the draft that Trout was seeking a $2.5-million signing bonus might have scared off some teams. But the Angels, who got quite a catch when they drafted outfielder Tim Salmon in 1989, picked Trout and signed him for $1.215 million, his slot value. http://articles.latimes.com/2011/feb/19/sp...-trout-20110220

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jun 8, 2015 -> 07:30 PM) But now that we have hindsight, the high schooler OF who was available turned out to be a better choice. He also had large signing bonus demands. I still would love to know just how close the Sox were to taking him.

Eddy Julio Martinez
Christopher Crawford's chat on baseballprospectus had this q&a: Festivus313 (Phoenix): Where would Eddy Julio Martinez, Yadier Alcarez, Norge Ruiz and Lucius Fix rank for you in this draft if eligible? Christopher Crawford: Martinez would be at 1, Fox would be in the top 10, I don't have enough on the other two to give a concrete answer. Sorry.

2015 MLB Draft
McDaniel tweeted about 3 guys being talked to for underslot deals that could go in top 10. Hayes, Clark and Newman.

2015 MLB Draft
Any of the main 3 pitchers. Please no Harris. Stephenson would be intriguing.

2015 College Baseball Thread
QUOTE (daa84 @ Jun 7, 2015 -> 10:44 PM) Game gets moved from 8 to 5 because of possibility of rain at 8. Hasn't been raining for past 45 minutes, but still haven't started. Illinois clearly trying to avoid playing this game at all tonight. Methinks they don't want to start Jay and risk losing him after just 2 innings to rain They said it was decision of NCAA not to start
-
2015 Cubs Catch-All thread
Cubs missed Scherzer today due to a rain out earlier in the week, and they also miss Price and Kluber in the next 10 days. Seems like the Sox haven't had such luck missing aces this year.

6/7 vs Tigers
QUOTE (venom4789 @ Jun 7, 2015 -> 09:32 PM) He is the one pitcher of the sox i havent seen much of. Is he missing spots then or matbe breaking balls not breaking, could he be tipping his pitches possibly are they sitting on a certian pitch. Or does he just suck this year. Wonder how much money he has pitched himself out of Way too many pitches right down the plate

6/7 vs Tigers
QUOTE (flavum @ Jun 7, 2015 -> 09:31 PM) Christ sake. Don't ever sign a roid guy ever again, assholes. The scouts who are recommending guys who were already in the majors are not doing very well of late for the Sox. Just way too many guys who come over and immediately look like they need to retire.

6/7 vs Tigers
