  1. QUOTE (Jake @ Dec 9, 2014 -> 04:37 AM) Danish and Michalczewski can be parted with. These are the kinds of players you give up in these deals. High risk high upside for the receiving team. Semien has too much upside and too little risk for this IMO Semien showed some gigantic flaws last year. I'm one of his biggest fans on here, but his defense and K rate were abysmal.
  2. QUOTE (Tony82087 @ Dec 9, 2014 -> 04:36 AM) If that is the package, and 1-2 corresponding moves are following, I love it Yep, in order to not give up Anderson, they clearly were going to have to sweeten the pot
  3. QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ Dec 9, 2014 -> 04:35 AM) If they move Danish, the org must feel like he's a reliever long term. Definitely a possibility they traded 3 players that they think have shortcomings that will cause them to switch positions: - Semien only can play 2b (where they like Johnson more) - Danish as a reliever - Trey M. at 1b
  4. QUOTE (iamshack @ Dec 9, 2014 -> 04:34 AM) ? Talking about Danish
  5. It's Chris Johnson they're packaging with Upton
  6. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Dec 9, 2014 -> 05:29 AM) I wonder if Rasmus or Melky + a closer are in our future as well. You don't sign LaRoche and trade for Samardzija and go into the season without an established closer.
  7. QUOTE (staxx @ Dec 9, 2014 -> 04:28 AM) Shark then go sign Melky + Robertson. /offseason Wouldn't shock me at all if that's the plan.
  8. Think on the bright side....they're going to get Samardzija without giving up Anderson and Ramirez. Danish is no better than our 4th best pitching prospect right now, as Montas flew past him.
  9. QUOTE (staxx @ Dec 9, 2014 -> 04:22 AM) Let's not overvalue our prospects. +1 It's a lot given our system, but it's not exactly giving up top 50 guys.
  10. If those are the 3 going for Samardzija, hopefully they know they can extend him.
  11. QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Dec 9, 2014 -> 04:18 AM) Wait, then why would Danish tweet that? Maybe he didn't know yet?
  12. QUOTE (JDsDirtySox @ Dec 9, 2014 -> 04:17 AM) Deal is done... and Danish is in it. oh boy
  13. QUOTE (SoxAce @ Dec 9, 2014 -> 05:13 AM) He'd fit right in as a baseball analyst for ESPN. Isn't he working for the Cubs now?
  14. QUOTE (staxx @ Dec 9, 2014 -> 04:10 AM) I'd go to bed at 9 pm during one of the busiest nights for my profession too. Jet lag from the long flight from Oakland to San Diego
  15. QUOTE (Chilihead90 @ Dec 9, 2014 -> 04:10 AM) Ryan Dempster - "If the Cubs add Jon Lester, they immediately become 15-20 wins better" *In related news, Dempster projects Lester to pitch 500 innings next season, strike out 600 batters and only walk 30, while keeping his ERA until 1.00* What an idiot. Lester was great last year, but since when is he this incredible pitcher that everything thinks is an ace?
  16. Hahn's clearly watching the end of Raw before finalizing the deal.
  17. Rumors of more issues at ND with possible player suspensions
  18. Kinda funny to see everyone on twitter talking about how great Sale and Samardzija would be as a 1-2 when there's no doubt in my mind Q is the actual 2nd best pitcher.
  19. An underrated aspect about acquiring Samardzija is that he's a huge name in the Chicagoland area, and he's someone that I think fans would go out to watch pitch (oh great, more ND fans at Sox games)
  20. QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Dec 9, 2014 -> 03:33 AM) The only similar top threes I can think of are Kershaw/Greinke/Ryu and Strasburg/Zimmerman/Roark or whoever their 3 is Price, Sanchez, Porcello
  21. Chuck Garfien ‏@ChuckGarfien 49s50 seconds ago Can tell you that White Sox players are anxiously awaiting word on Samardzija. As one player put it, he'd be "pumped."
  22. QUOTE (DirtySox @ Dec 9, 2014 -> 04:29 AM) I'd be okay with that. Yep, I have absolutely no confidence that the Sox would have been able to develop him and help him overcome some massive flaws.
