  1. QUOTE (danman31 @ Jul 8, 2014 -> 02:39 AM) Boy it sure is nice to see a young hitter actually perform in the minors. 2013 draft with some very promising results so far
  2. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jul 8, 2014 -> 01:02 AM) Still think it's insane to trade him for a relief pitcher and then run Sierra/Taylor out there. How likely are those guys to be improvements? Taylor is already 4 years older than Dayan. With Gillaspie not hitting for power, catcher not giving us anything, Semien/Johnson/Eaton not power guys...and losing Dunn as well, you just can't give up on him quite yet. They're not, which is why they said no to Maurer supposedly
  3. QUOTE (BigHurt3515 @ Jul 8, 2014 -> 02:01 AM) Flowers is such a guess pitch hitter. If he can't guess the pitch he will never hit it... And he is awful at it.. You would think with him being a catcher he would be pretty good at guessing what pitch is coming. He's going to make a heck of a slow pitch softball player in a few years.
  4. Slam for Trey M.!
  5. QUOTE (Chilihead90 @ Jul 8, 2014 -> 12:30 AM) 6 IP, 2 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 7 K so far for Danish. That's super sexy. Against a very good team
  6. With Beckham's average in free fall mode, you better trade him sooner rather than later if the decision's been made to go in a different direction.
  7. Something I hadn't realized before until checking out his stats, but this is Jordan Danks' 5th season in Charlotte. You don't see that too often with the same organization.
  8. http://www.milb.com/scoreboard/index.jsp?s...mp;ymd=20140707 Danish with 4K in 2 innings May with another double
  9. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jul 8, 2014 -> 12:14 AM) Reynaudo or TUC's pick, Rubby going for the Red Sox on WED apparently De La Rosa has awesome stuff
  10. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jul 7, 2014 -> 10:46 PM) David Ortiz was just going off on a Baseball Network broadcast from the last 24 hours where someone apparently was bringing up the fact that he "seemed to be getting a free pass" on the steroids issue. Sensitive. Me thinketh he doth protesteth too much. Lots of cursing/bleeps in his interview, saying nobody in America gets a free pass (that he'd been tested 40 times, etc.)...had something to do with John Lackey, couldn't quite figure out how his name got brought in the conversation. Lackey complained about Nelson Cruz after Cruz destroyed him on Saturday night. Showalter responded by saying Lackey better be sure his own team is clean before bashing others.
  11. I like it more in terms of getting him back into game shape.
  12. According to this stat, he gives up the least amount of hard hit balls out of any starter in the majors https://twitter.com/msimonespn/status/48617...6259712/photo/1
  13. Thought this was pretty cool: Addison reed @Areed43 · 16h Also, you guys need to go vote for my guy chris sale! No way he should be left out of the all star game #TargetSale
  14. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Jul 7, 2014 -> 10:10 PM) What!!!!!!! Who would even THINK of saying he'd be back this year?????? Lucky guess
  15. The Aiken situation is another example of why Rodon would be nuts not to sign in the next 11 days.
  16. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jul 7, 2014 -> 06:27 PM) That makes no sense to me. Instead of offering a $100 million contract to Smarj, they are going to offer a $150-$200 million to one of those guys? I'll believe it when I see it. Especially with the financial situation there are in. They won't be seeing a major cash infusion until 2019. Because they don't think he's an ace, in my opinion. Also, don't forget the possibility of them going after him next offseason, which was reported a few weeks ago.
  17. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jul 7, 2014 -> 05:21 PM) That is just it. Eventually you have to target an end game. The Cubs just pushed their backwards a year or two. 2016 still seems to be the year where they hope to compete. The core young guys will get a ton of experience in the majors next year. From there, if they trade someone like Castro for a good young pitcher like Wheeler, and then go sign someone like Price, Lester or Scherzer, their rotation will be pretty solid to go along with what could be a big time offense. I can't even imagine what insane trade proposals some would come up with on here if the Sox had their prospects.
  18. Hoyer's been everywhere since the trade telling fans they're going to be spending money this offseason.
  19. QUOTE (whitesoxfan99 @ Jul 7, 2014 -> 03:37 PM) Yeah, which means the Sox would likely agree to a well below slot deal with a player before the draft. It would potentially make for an incredibly interesting draft next year if they cut a deal way below slot like the Astros did with Correa a few years ago. I'd much rather just have Rodon though. Agreed
  20. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Jul 7, 2014 -> 03:30 PM) That's how it works? So potentially could have two top 10 picks next year?? That makes me a little less worried. Yes, but the pick has no protection with regards to carrying over to the next year if they don't sign the player.
  21. QUOTE (StRoostifer @ Jul 7, 2014 -> 04:26 PM) The Sox are rebuilding anyway, Rodon's future is no lock and the Sox get compensated with #4 pick next year. Rodon, if he doesn't sign due to money issues, has to try and build his value even more and as a senior no less. If Rodon goes back for his senior year he will have even less leverage than he does now. I'd call his/boras bluff. Exactly why you can't let a talent like Rodon get away. The Sox need all the pitching they can get, and there's no guarantees there will be anyone close to Rodon's talent at #4 in the draft next year. I'm still extremely confident they'll get this done, as there's no way they would have signed the other 9 players in the 1-10 range without being comfortable with Rodon's asking price. If they misjudged what he would ask for, then Hahn has no business being in his role.
  22. QUOTE (StRoostifer @ Jul 7, 2014 -> 03:13 PM) If Rodon wants as much or more than the #1 over all pick then f*** him. Good luck improving next years draft status. Rodon needs the Sox more than the Sox need him. I disagree. The Sox have horrible pitching depth in their minors, and lack anyone besides Montas with the potential to be a top starter. The Sox desperately need to lock up Rodon, and none of this should come as too big of a surprise to them. We talked about this a few weeks ago, but I fully expect to start seeing rumors that Rodon is seriously considering returning to NC St. or sign with an Independent team. It's just the way most Boras negotiations go.
  23. Abreu made it, Rizzo didn't....that ends that debate
  24. Cespedes made it? Yikes Kudos to Alexei for making it
