  1. QUOTE (lord chas @ Jul 9, 2014 -> 01:41 AM) If the Sox make some deadline moves I hope we can get another catcher in the system +1...this and another starting pitcher have got to be the priority. Last year, Hahn seemed to target guys who might be blocked at the big league level, but were ready (or close to being ready) for the majors. Anyone fit this billing at the catcher position?
  2. Seems like a missed chance to use PK. Dunn has no chance vs Miller.
  3. QUOTE (Feeky Magee @ Jul 9, 2014 -> 02:36 AM) Jacob May has 5 walks in the last 2 nights Walking against Cody Buckel shouldn't count Excited though about May, even though it seems he got shy about stealing on Alfaro's gun.
  4. QUOTE (Jake @ Jul 9, 2014 -> 02:30 AM) At this point, I feel pretty certain that Leury Garcia would get more strikeouts against MLB hitters than Chris Beck Could Beck get more hits against MLB pitchers than Leury Agree with you, outside of being drafted high, there's nothing about Beck's minor league career that makes you think he can be anything more than a back-end starter.
  5. QUOTE (lord chas @ Jul 9, 2014 -> 01:32 AM) Gordon with no plan at the plate. Not even close to making contact Seems to be pulling the ball a lot. Been a long time since he hit a gapper for a double to right center.
  6. Whatever tweaks they made to Flowers' swing a few weeks ago has given him even less of a chance at the plate. I rather he go back to what he was a year or two ago and try and pull everything hard.
  7. I'd rather just see Nieto maybe get 40% of the ABs instead of only once a week.
  8. QUOTE (flavum @ Jul 7, 2014 -> 07:49 PM) David Holmberg making his 2nd career start tomorrow vs Cubs. Getting the call from the Reds for a doubleheader 26th man. He's awful...terrible numbers in AAA this year, and he got destroyed by the Cubs tonight.
  9. Hard to tell, but could De Aza have caught Napoli's double? I couldn't tell where it hit off the monster.
  10. BTW, why in the hell is Flowers starting with Danks on the mound? Even if he was playing decently, it seems like they've played Flowers way too often this year.
  11. Danks has nothing tonight. Disappointing performance against a team that has been struggling.
  12. QUOTE (BigHurt3515 @ Jul 9, 2014 -> 12:41 AM) We need new faces after the All-Star break Unless he's traded, Beckham will continue to bat 2nd in my opinion. Unfortunately, I can't see him having much value at all unless it's a team that has always liked him and feel he's a change of scenery candidate.
  13. QUOTE (chitownsportsfan @ Jul 9, 2014 -> 01:36 AM) I thought this year would be a bit of a cleanse with some new faces but my sunny outlook is being pissed on by the same old Beckham and Flowers. I look forward to never seeing either as a starting player on the Sox after this season. Flowers can stay around as a backup catcher if he wants, Beckham can just go away. No thanks to Flowers as a back up. Time to cut him loose, this is ridiculous.
  14. This is pretty cool http://m.mlb.com/visualization/
  15. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Jul 8, 2014 -> 04:27 PM) What a waste of posts. Why would the Sox trade Quintana. He is a staple for this rotation signed and cost-controlled, much like Sale. They are part of the future. Stupidest thing we could do is move Q right now. No one is going to offer anything near the astronomic cost it would take for it to be a smart move for the franchise. Couldn't agree more
  16. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jul 8, 2014 -> 03:54 PM) So a guy on July 8th hitting .200 with 101 strikeouts has conquered AAA. I realize the Sox minor league system has been weak, but this shows just how bad it is. yep, and his numbers were inflated playing in a hitter's paradise last year in the PCL.
  17. If Soler turns out to be a legit power prospect, that makes the Cubs system even scarier. He's the forgotten prospect for them due to injuries.
  18. Abreu has played in 24 series this year, and he has homered in 16 of them.
  19. Beckham batting .212 against RHP....stop batting him 2nd. ADA actually hitting .263 vs RHP.
  20. 24 game streak for Ravelo
  21. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Jul 8, 2014 -> 02:13 AM) If it wasn't for that skinny bum Sale, it would be the 4th straight scoreless start from the Sox rotation And that's why he's not an all-star
  22. QUOTE (Soxfest @ Jul 8, 2014 -> 01:58 AM) Tyler's last 100 ab's are miserable. I keep hoping the end is near. Much rather see Phegley/Nieto and move Smith up to AAA
  23. One of the more unlikely dominating starts in a while for the Sox.
