  1. Bonifacio's defense has been horrible this spring
  2. So hopefully this doesn't turn into some type of controversy surrounding Samardzija, as I understand what he was trying to say: Jesse Rogers @ESPNChiCubs · 27m 27 minutes ago Samadzija on Soler: "Big power righty, big, Cuban, power righty. They’re all pretty similar... ... You leave one on the inner-half of the plate, and they like to take advantage of it."
  3. QUOTE (daa84 @ Mar 27, 2015 -> 09:41 PM) Threw the cutter early, which I didn't remember him throwing with the Cubs. Splitter did have good action on it. Fastball looked flat to me though After watching him for the last few years, he gets a ton of his strikeouts on his splitter, which is really a devastating pitch. He's pretty much a two-pitch pitcher, as he only uses his slider occasionally.
  4. Well, we'll know how much concern there should be about him if he goes into KC on Opening Day and gives up 3 homers to that lineup. This Cubs team is going to be near the top of the NL in homers for a long time.
  5. Dan Hayes @CSNHayes · 20s 20 seconds ago Scout on Jeff Samardzija: "Stuff looks good actually. Heavy sinker, good cutter. Just left the ball right down middle in all three HR's."
  6. Any velocity reports?
  7. 7 homers allowed now by Samardzija. There's definitely a part of me that's fine waiting to re-sign him until he proves he can be a top pitcher in the AL.
  8. QUOTE (soxfan2014 @ Mar 27, 2015 -> 09:18 PM) The hate from the posters fuels him Nothing new for me. I fueled Pods with all the power he needed in the 2005 World Series
  9. QUOTE (The Ginger Kid @ Mar 27, 2015 -> 10:10 PM) Tyler Flowers, ladies and gentlemen. It's a disappointment they brought him back. He was so bad for so long last year. He doesn't seem like the type of catcher that will help a team compete.
  10. QUOTE (Soxfest @ Mar 27, 2015 -> 09:06 PM) Cubs have hit a lot of HR's against the Sox this spring. Cubs have hit a lot of homers against everyone
  11. 6 homers allowed by Samardzija in approximately 15 innings
  12. QUOTE (Jake @ Mar 27, 2015 -> 08:56 PM) FWIW, both Davidson errors occurred on the same play. Booted it and then threw it away. IIRC, it was back-to-back plays
  13. QUOTE (Baron @ Mar 27, 2015 -> 09:38 PM) Well that's the thing...who do you replace him with? Jason Castro when the Astros are terrible again
  14. QUOTE (Baron @ Mar 27, 2015 -> 09:34 PM) Flowers looks like he's ready for another rough year at the plate. Hahn hopefully next year will replace him. I don't think he'll last past June if he's struggling and the team is in contention.
  15. Samardzija continues to struggle
  16. QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ Mar 27, 2015 -> 08:09 PM) Sounds like Rick Barnes will resign at Texas. Arizona State, Tennessee, and St. John's all came open today. Tim Doyle says Steve Lavin to DePaul. Makes Lovett to DePaul seem likely
  17. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Mar 27, 2015 -> 06:20 PM) Exactly. There is a lot of common ground between what Samard has said since he got here, and what the White Sox have to offer him. I think it gets done. His comments are different than what everyone was suggesting over the last year, where they said he would want top dollar in order to help out his peers and the union. Not that I'm saying he still won't do that, but his comments should be perceived as a positive for the Sox.
  18. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Mar 27, 2015 -> 06:21 PM) I'd be shocked if the White Sox outbid everyone else like the Cubs and Nationals with the other two guys. I highly doubt he goes back to the Cubs, and I think the Cubs would be much more interested in Price and Zimmermann. I've seen the Red Sox connected to Cueto a lot.
  19. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Mar 27, 2015 -> 04:40 PM) Um, I'm pretty sure that Jon and Max both got top dollar. That quote actually makes me think it's more likely he stays here.
  20. I would be shocked if Sox take him. I think they'll take someone closer to the majors
  21. Kentucky just did this with their best player being a no show
  22. Gordon absolutely threw a curveball. One of the best I have ever seen.
  23. All I know is GT went 1-0 vs Big Ten
  24. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Mar 27, 2015 -> 01:36 AM) Dek growing in college made him so much more money. Dude is huge now. Incredible finisher
  25. QUOTE (HickoryHuskers @ Mar 27, 2015 -> 02:20 AM) ND is the second best team left in this tournament. Only problem is that they (likely) have to beat the best team to get to the F4. Brey finally found the perfect combination of players for his offensive system. Arizona and Gonzaga are pretty fantastic.
