Rodon comped to "a young Carlton"
QUOTE (maggsmaggs @ Mar 26, 2015 -> 09:01 PM) Prior to yesterday's start, everyone seemed to think he needed to be in Charlotte for at least a couple months to work on his command and change-up. I don't see how one start, albeit a terrific one against the Royals A-Team, should change that. He had his slider working and that is why he was successful. He still needs to work on that change-up and overall command. The media got a little too crazy with one great start which was just four innings. I'm thinking that Austin might have called for a lot more sliders than the other catchers have been, which resulted in him being more successful. With that said, he should continue to work on his fastball command and change-up in the spring instead of seeing how many strike outs he can get.

Rodon comped to "a young Carlton"
QUOTE (bmags @ Mar 26, 2015 -> 09:26 PM) Why is the media so invested in having Rodon up right away? Because of the Kris Bryant controversy

ST: 3/26 vs Dodgers
Brad Penny is awful. Even when he was doing ok in his starts, he looked to have very little on his pitches. I think I'd rather take a chance with Carroll.

2015 TV Thread
The Americans, in my opinion, has lost its fastball this year. Way too slow, I find myself falling asleep every episode.

ST: 3/25 at Royals
QUOTE (Joshua Strong @ Mar 26, 2015 -> 01:56 AM) Its my first time watching Rodon live and the dude can pitch. I was thinking about his pitch repertoire, I knew that he threw a fastball, slider and a changeup but I didn't know that he threw a cutter, which is good for him and his development. Are we sure it's a cutter and not his slider?

That slider to Escobar might be the best I have ever seen

This broadcast is too funny listening to KC announcers and coaches talk about how professional Rios is

That first inning was about the best stuff you will ever see from a rookie LHP

ST: 3/24 vs Rockies
QUOTE (flavum @ Mar 24, 2015 -> 09:43 PM) Definitely in the "Let's just get to opening day healthy" portion of spring training. No more injuries other than Sale. Agreed, and I would love to hear Cooper on the radio taking questions from the hosts about the pitching so far. It would make for great comedy.

ST: 3/24 vs Rockies
It will be interesting to see what happens with the bullpen. Seems like just about everyone has performed poorly out of the pen the last few weeks.

ST: 3/24 vs Rockies
QUOTE (SoxAce @ Mar 24, 2015 -> 09:36 PM) Melky having a nightmare inning. But I thought we were suppose to have the best defensive outfield in baseball this season Hawk? With Melky/Avi/Gillaspie/Johnson likely starting, it has the makings of a mediocre defense. Just have to hope those guys hit enough to overcome their defense.

ST: 3/24 vs Rockies
The pitching and defense continues to be awful. Sox have the highest ERA in the AL this spring.
-
ST: 3/24 vs Rockies
3 Sox hitters have been hit by a pitch today.

ST: 3/24 vs Rockies
Bonifacio has been all sorts of awful in the field/at the plate so far this spring.

ST 3/23 Sox vs Padres 3:05 start
QUOTE (Eminor3rd @ Mar 24, 2015 -> 12:10 AM) The real issue is terrible jumps and routes, IMO. Yep, his jumps are poor, which combined with his slow acceleration out of the gate results in significantly less range than you'd expect.

ST 3/23 Sox vs Padres 3:05 start
QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Mar 23, 2015 -> 11:46 PM) Hey look, Webb walked somebody. Now we need a WP. And there it is. He's been a massive disappointment based off of his 2013 numbers. Hopefully Albers can be a solid contributor, as this bullpen looks to be pretty thin.

Next season's B10 ... how would you rank them?
QUOTE (RockRaines @ Mar 23, 2015 -> 10:44 PM) I've got Hayes making a roster as well. I can't see him going pro. It's more likely he challenges for first team AA.

4 pitch walk for Webb...can't see how he makes the big league team

Next season's B10 ... how would you rank them?
QUOTE (RockRaines @ Mar 23, 2015 -> 10:36 PM) Pretty aggressive to rank a team that wasn't good enough for the NIT that high in Michigan. OSU is fully dependent on the incoming class. They will be playing big minutes. Also have Trevor Thompson now eligible. Wisconsin loses a ton. Three NBA players. Who's the 3rd besides Kaminsky and Dekker? If Michigan gets Jaylen Brown, then they'd definitely be #1.

ST 3/23 Sox vs Padres 3:05 start
Good news is this spring has hopefully shown Montas he can't just throw 100 mph at this level without good command and be successful.
