  1. QUOTE (sammy esposito @ Jan 28, 2015 -> 09:45 PM) Eaton had some hamstring issues and consequently on the disable list a few times last year. Ichiro may have been a good fill in for him at leadoff if Adam was on the mend. Bonifacio would be the leadoff man/CF replacement, it would seem.
  2. QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Jan 28, 2015 -> 08:15 PM) But ya, this is the first move all offseason that I really don't understand at all. I think it's a great move. It gives them two guys that can play a few positions and hit pretty well against LHP, which is something that LaRoche/Gillaspie/M. Johnson probably won't provide.
  3. QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Jan 28, 2015 -> 08:31 PM) I was hoping that Bonifacio would handle all backup infielder duties. I think he'll get some at bats at DH vs LHP
  4. Slayer!! I've been saying for 2 months now how bringing him back would make sense.
  5. Not sure I've ever seen a point guard have a game with no assists and ten turnovers
  6. QUOTE (HickoryHuskers @ Dec 24, 2014 -> 12:52 PM) LaRoche is not going to have a platoon partner. You don't pay a guy $25M to be a platoon player. Yes, I know he's awful vs LHP but you just deal with that because of the tradeoff of how good he is vs RHP. Now, if you're smart, you have him batting farther down in the order vs LHP, but if anybody on the roster is a target for a platoon situation it's Gillaspie, not LaRoche. In a radio interview on Friday night, I believe Hahn said something about how Bonifacio could possibly have a role as a DH vs LHP. He was mentioning this more as something that him and Ventura would want to be on the same page on.
  7. I know he's had injuries, but it sure seems like J. Noah has been mediocre this season.
  8. The Little Leaguer was just about as tall as Eaton is.
  9. Stuck watching the Kaplan/Ventura interview on csnchicago. Of course, one of the first things Kaplan brings up is the Cubs signed Lester first. Wrong, wrong, wrong!
  10. If they're looking for a defensive infielder who can hit LHP, I wonder if Gordon Beckham is a possibility?
  11. QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ Jan 23, 2015 -> 05:40 PM) Not listening but 670's tweets are intriguing about the interview. I'll have to listen to the podcast. 670 The Score ‏@670TheScore 10m10 minutes ago Hahn says Conor Gillaspie is the everyday third baseman right now, but it's "conceivable" White Sox could add someone to the mix there
  12. Look at the Blue Demons! Oh, and Ga Tech has 18 points with 11 minutes left in the game. Gregory shouldn't be allowed back on the plane home.
  13. Ha, they've now acquired 2 of my least favorite Cubs players of the last decade (Shark/Soto)
  14. QUOTE (farmteam @ Jan 22, 2015 -> 05:04 AM) Has that been rumored? Wonder why they'd want him. Purdue's been pretty meh recently. Not rumored, as Mark Price is the favorite as of now. After the Gregory hire, I worry about anyone that doesn't make sense but might want out before they get fired
  15. My nightmare scenario as a GT fan is if they hire Painter after the season. Not impressed at all by him the last few years.
  16. QUOTE (Heads22 @ Jan 22, 2015 -> 04:56 AM) Coach Carter movie. Not even joking. Explain please
  17. The Astros DFA'd Carlos Corporan. I would take him as the Sox back-up catcher over anyone else in the system.
  18. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Jan 19, 2015 -> 06:05 PM) So the sidebar to this is that the Nationals have let it be known that they plan on trading Strasburg, NOT Zimmerman Red Sox, Padres, Rangers and Cardinals seem like the best trade scenarios. With that said, Cubs could offer Russell and more and probably get him.
  19. Thrilled with this deal. Scherzer had replaced Johan as the pitcher I felt the Sox had no chance to defeat when on the mound. Also, doesn't hurt to have a super rotation out there in case they face Cubs in postseason.
  20. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Jan 19, 2015 -> 05:17 PM) That frees up 3B. I wonder if they have anybody to play that position in the minors. Doesn't seem like they gave up much to get Fowler. They are doing a good job of getting high OBP guys to go with their enormous power
  21. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Jan 19, 2015 -> 04:20 PM) Castillo is going somewhere. I dont know where, but with Ross and Montero there, there is not a lot of innings available for Castillo Yep, thought they might use him to get an outfielder. Wouldn't be shocked if he's traded for minor league pitching now. The Cubs major league roster seems pretty filled.
  22. Valbuena included, and not Castillo
  23. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Jan 19, 2015 -> 04:59 PM) Interesting given that he's a free agent next year. Dan Straily one of the names being mentioned as going to Houston. If Wellington is in the deal, you have to wonder about Castro to the Sox
  24. Cubs about to get Dexter Fowler, according to Bruce Levine
