  1. Surprised the Cubs had to give a 2 year deal to Lester's buddy David Ross, but they did for a 2 year/5 million dollar contract. Wellington Castillo is a pretty nice trade chip they have now.
  2. I know we've all heard the White Sox spin on their chances, but the Cubs organization thinks he'll become a free agent http://www.csnchicago.com/cubs/jeff-samard...bs-vs-white-sox
  3. Yesterday during Hahn's interview with Mully and Hanley, it sounded like there was one more player they were specifically targeting and were trying to make it work money wise.
  4. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Dec 18, 2014 -> 09:42 PM) And what better way to prevent that from happening again than signing him to the Sox organization. Secret genius move by Hahn. Both off of Rienzo
  5. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Dec 18, 2014 -> 06:05 PM) Kyle, please tell me you were a kidding. In what world does that sound like a sane decision. This is just absurd. Do they just want to encourage a Jay Cutler tirade or something. That is just awful and for everyone saying Cutler stole / robbed the Bears, please. He didn't write the contract. Or it could be a brilliant decision to try and showcase how mature he is, which in turn could help trick a team into trading for him? They know Cutler's not going to say anything stupid.
  6. Reds could be a fit, as they still don't have a left fielder (and Hamilton's speed can help with Viciedo's lack of range in LF).
  7. QUOTE (SoCalSox @ Dec 17, 2014 -> 04:49 AM) Why would they take Crawford if they just paid $14M per year for Melky? This was KW's possible plan before the Melky signing. The article said it's a moot point now.
  8. Torn ACL for Jabari
  9. QUOTE (daggins @ Dec 17, 2014 -> 04:24 AM) Probably a Sale or Q trade. I was thinking it was trading Alexei for prospects to cut payroll.
  10. http://m.mlb.com/news/article/104180786/wh...news-conference Reading this article, I really wonder what KW's unpopular strategy would have been?
  11. Dodgers and Cubs make a lot more sense and have more funds/prospects to deal.
  12. Something that should help is not giving 20 starts in 2015 to the trio of Johnson, Paulino and Rienzo. They combined for an 8.35 ERA in 2014. I'm willing to guess Rodon can do better than that if someone gets hurt.
  13. Please tell me Cutler demands a trade after this year. He is just awful now.
  14. I'll predict Sergio Santos
  15. QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Dec 16, 2014 -> 12:50 AM) Both players have red flags, I think both are very likely to be worth their deals. Melky makes more sense for the Sox as he had less of a commitment and we know how he plays in LF, while we have no idea how Gillaspie plays in LF (because he would move). Both have upside, both have risk, both are good for their respective teams. Melky's also a much better fit in the 2nd spot of the lineup, and the Sox probably are hesitant to have another 3rd baseman with back issues.
  16. 86 wins, Abreu drives in 130
  17. I'm honestly shocked by all the pessimism in this thread.
  18. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Dec 15, 2014 -> 08:04 PM) a lot of the errors came after really tough stops, he would pop up and you could see his footwork get messed up and the ball would sail on him Hopefully as Abreu continues to improve defensively, that will cause a decrease in Gillaspie's throwing errors.
  19. QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ Dec 14, 2014 -> 08:55 PM) Chuck Garfien ‏@ChuckGarfien 10m10 minutes ago Hawk Harrelson with some bold predictions. And says #WhiteSox aren't done making moves. http://bit.ly/1yR3lVi ” Hawk hinting at a couple more moves? Interesting lol. I'm thinking Castro. If Hawk's this excited, it must mean Beckham's coming back.
  20. Two things: - Giants players were willing to endorse the idea of Sabean going after Melky this offseason, which shows you he's not a bad teammate - I hate Notre Dame and the Cubs the most....but you better believe I'll cheer for Samardzija
  21. If he's getting tested more often due to his previous failed test, then it's likely he's more clean than a random player on the team.
  22. Never thought I would see the day where Beckham would be an ideal bench guy on this team. He can play 2b and SS and hits lefties well
  23. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Dec 12, 2014 -> 03:16 PM) So, #deathmarchformariota ? "Don'twinforwinston"
  24. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Dec 12, 2014 -> 04:20 PM) The problem with it being Viciedo who sticks around is that you can't count on him to hit either LHP or RHP as of now. Against LHP, I'd trust the following players likely to be in the lineup: Eaton, Alexei, Abreu, Avi, Viciedo, Flowers
