  1. I hope they didn't offer him 6 years, 120 million
  2. So would Dakich still take Craft over any other player in the country?
  3. I'm very content with this. Way too much for Sox to spend...and the Cubs don't get him.
  4. QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Jan 21, 2014 -> 10:56 PM) Ya, I'm not worried one bit about Tanaka actually being a good pitcher, I think he'll do just fine in his first year or two or even three but when we're talking 7 years for a pitcher, I'm going to be terrified of this guy after those initial few years. Yep, especially when you take into account his work load the last few years.
  5. QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Jan 21, 2014 -> 03:55 AM) Blah. What in the world were the Lakers doing on that last play? They left the lane almost completely open.
  6. rumored deal offered by Cubs in this tweet Ty Youngfelt ‏@TyYoungfelt 59m @cjdubbya AAV... Deal will be 7 years, north of 135M
  7. QUOTE (HickoryHuskers @ Jan 21, 2014 -> 02:24 AM) You forgot the +6 for the Sox for length of Tanaka message board thread, so we win! Nyy fans message board has 2735 posts
  8. QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Jan 21, 2014 -> 12:57 AM) So he pretty much eliminated us and the D'Backs, even though I think that we're the two most likely spots for Tanaka. I've yet to see any MLB writer state that over the last 4-5 days. As SS2K just stated, it makes little sense for why Tanaka would choose the Sox.
  9. So Creighton and Wragge off to a good start...wow!
  10. QUOTE (dayan024 @ Jan 20, 2014 -> 10:15 PM) Chris Cotillo ‏@ChrisCotillo 17m Scout with team in pursuit of Tanaka believes Tanaka will look for a 7th year on a deal, or at least option years in addition to 6 That could favor Cubs, as they're supposedly interested in offering the most years. If it ends up being something like 7/140 (not including the posting fee), then I absolutely don't want the White Sox to get him.
  11. QUOTE (Baron @ Jan 19, 2014 -> 03:12 AM) Just an interesting though....if the Cubs do sign him for that deal that would make him tied for the 3rd highest paid pitcher in baseball Tom Loxas on twitter is stating he heard Cubs offered him 7/160
  12. At this point, I don't want the Sox to get him. 20 million for someone that a month ago no one predicted as anything higher than a #2 starter is ridiculous.
  13. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Jan 18, 2014 -> 04:16 PM) Hawkins tools are off the charts. He has so much upside and I think it is a mistake to right him off. He has a high bust rate. Another year like last year and he'll be completely removed from any list (regardless of potential). He has to make massive strides this year and I expect him to. Not sure if it's been discussed, but Hawkins appears to have been at the hitting camp a few days ago.
  14. QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Jan 18, 2014 -> 05:07 PM) Yeah, that was a pretty stupid tweet. I think it's safe to say that all the teams that met with Tanaka plan on offering him a contract at some point. Go ahead and report that the Cubs made an "official" offer, but Levine shouldn't be acting like it's some ground-breaking story unless he has some of the proposed terms. I actually do think the Cubs will get him, but it is quite "interesting" all the hype about possible getting him is going on the same weekend as the Cubs Convention.
  15. I believe Levine also tweeted that having a big Japanese-American community would be important for where they choose. If so, then Tanaka will be signing with the Dodgers. I don't get why Levine thinks it's such a big deal that the Cubs offered a "real contract".
  16. QUOTE (Jake @ Jan 17, 2014 -> 06:38 PM) I still feel like Cubs don't actually have anything close to the money to sign Tanaka and are just making a bunch of noise to get their fans interested and think they're trying. I completely disagree...their payroll is so low right now. This is the guy they've been targeting all offseason.
  17. Joe Ostrowski ‏@JoeO670 7m Cubs are now the favorites to land Masahiro Tanaka on @BovadaLV. Cubs 3/2, Yankees 2/1, Dodgers 5/1, White Sox & Mariners 10/1.
  18. QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Jan 17, 2014 -> 06:16 PM) There's been just as much for several other teams, and I frankly don't believe 90+% of what's being reported right now. Agreed, but now we're getting reports of other MLB owners that think the Cubs are in a great position to get him.
  19. QUOTE (WhiteSoxLifer @ Jan 17, 2014 -> 07:09 PM) Cbs sports/ jon heyman Sox seen as threat http://mweb.cbssports.com/mlb/writer/jon-h...o-beat-yanks-la Sure seems like a lot of smoke for the Cubs the last 36 hours.
  20. Gavin Floyd
  21. QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Jan 17, 2014 -> 04:19 AM) That Twitter is fake. https://twitter.com/michelleyutv There you go, thanks!
  22. No idea how legit this is from twitter, but she does say she has someone that knows Tanaka personally. She's stating Tanaka to the Yankees on Monday https://twitter.com/nflnbainsider
  23. QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Jan 17, 2014 -> 03:08 AM) Legitimate question: If the Sox did a Bobby Bonilla type thing that paid Tanaka $2M for 10 years after his contract was over, would that be a smart or dumb move? Why would he take 10/100 like you mentioned, when he could get more money for less years...and then sign another huge contract if he does well?
  24. QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Jan 17, 2014 -> 01:51 AM) White Sox will come in and just swipe him from all. I hope not if it's 20 million per year or higher
