  1. Wow Michael Wilbon ‏@RealMikeWilbon 2m One more series for Cutler to show he can win this game...if not get him out...Trestman, at this moment, looks like he should be in CFL.
  2. QUOTE (dasox24 @ Dec 15, 2013 -> 07:55 PM) What the f***, Jay... I wonder who the Cutler apologist will blame for that one
  3. Way to go Trestman! It's going to be hard for the Bears to bring back Cutler for an extended deal.
  4. QUOTE (chw42 @ Dec 15, 2013 -> 06:37 PM) Cutler's done fine so far and he's made a couple of fairly challenging throws under pressure. The INT was a bad decision/throw. Considering how wide open the receivers are getting, there's no need to force that.
  5. I didn't see this until now: http://espn.go.com/blog/chicago/bears/post...y-behind-cutler
  6. QUOTE (Jake @ Dec 15, 2013 -> 07:09 PM) Give us McCown!!!!! I wish
  7. QUOTE (Jake @ Dec 15, 2013 -> 04:12 AM) Oregon made a lot of lucky baskets tonight. I think Illinois looked like the better team. Stinks to lose, but I'm encouraged by how we looked It was a lay-up drill for both teams. Oregon has absolutely no interior defense. Armadi and Tate had a contest for who could be the worst player this game.
  8. QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Dec 15, 2013 -> 04:11 AM) Don't think so Oregon ending up with the insane cover there. Illinois again played really well for 30 minutes, and then it seemed like they slowed it down and it all fell apart.
  9. QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Dec 15, 2013 -> 04:00 AM) Shades of Miami there They ever show the replay of that?

No reason for them to trade Viciedo, especially if his value is low. Just like with Beckham, there's no harm in giving them another year to see if they can be part of the core players going forward.

Speaking of the Cubs, there's a report on mlbtraderumors that they asked for Stroman, Sanchez and another player for Samardzija.

QUOTE (Marty34 @ Dec 13, 2013 -> 12:09 AM) A Tanaka signing if he is as advertised could set this team in great position for the longterm. 2014: Sale, Tanaka, Quintana, Johnson, Danks, draft Hoffman or Kolek 2015: Sale, Tanaka, Quintana, Johnson, trade Danks after he rebounds from surgery 2016: Sale, Tanaka, Quintana, Johnson, 2017: Sale, Tanaka, Johnson, Kolek/Hoffman, trade Quintana 2018 Sale, Kolek/Hoffman, Tanaka, Johnson. Not bad. It would be stunning if the Sox outbid the Dodgers, Yankees, Angels, Cubs, etc. for Tanaka. This is a much different situation than with Abreu, where a lot, if not all, of the big market teams didn't need a 1B.

QUOTE (BaseballNick @ Dec 12, 2013 -> 10:58 PM) What is it the Sox have done that the Cubs haven't? I think Rick is doing a fine job and all, but I'm not sure what the Cubs have to do with anything. They're going about their rebuild differently, and in my opinion, it's going pretty well. Yep, it's actually shocking how patient the Cubs front office has been. Everyone assumed they'd be in the hunt for David Price and Ellsbury, but it seems like they're holding out another year. Hopefully they don't get Tanaka.

QUOTE (pettie4sox @ Dec 12, 2013 -> 08:25 PM) Seriously though, I want to hear from people what would kind of moves would put the sox in contention for 2014. I hear people complaining and such but I would rather have examples than just BMWs (b****ers, Whiners, Moaners) Hahn is doing a very solid job with the rebuild that was necessary. With that said, it doesn't mean the Sox will be competitive in 2014. Rarely do you see teams competitive when they are in a full rebuild process. I'm excited to see what the young foundation can do next year, and hopefully we get some guys that prove they can be penciled into the starting lineup for years to come.

QUOTE (pittshoganerkoff @ Dec 12, 2013 -> 07:10 PM) I like the idea. Right now, this team is better than last year's team, and it's apparent that they are going to continue to improve. I don't view this as a major rebuild at all. The article clearly states that if they are in contention at the trading deadline, there will be money available. I don't think this team will be in contention, but add two more pieces this off season (catcher, 3B), and it's a different story. I look at 2014 as a transition year where they will be continuing to improve while checking out some of the young talent out there. 2015 looks like it could be a great year for White Sox baseball. Last year's team was significantly better on paper coming into the season than this year's team will be (barring a few starting-caliber acquisitions).
  16. Nice trade for the Cubs getting Ruggiano for Bogusevic
  17. QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Dec 12, 2013 -> 02:50 AM) Someone tell me why if they trade Deng this team wouldn't be god awful and get a top 5 pick? Teague shooting around 20% on the year.
  18. QUOTE (Jake @ Dec 11, 2013 -> 03:00 AM) It is obvious that we will sign Brandon Inge then Well done!
  19. QUOTE (Dunt @ Dec 10, 2013 -> 11:48 PM) I think a lot of people saw Olt's name, saw that he was ranked highly, and did no research after that I'm not a fan of Olt. However, Edwards had an incredible season last year.
  20. QUOTE (bear_brian @ Dec 11, 2013 -> 12:25 AM) It's nice to pick and choose when you analyze trades, but Peavy, Rios, et. al has really netted us L. Garcia, A. Garcia, Abreu, Eaton, Paulino, Rosario, and an extension for Matt Lindstrom, with cash left to do a few other things if we want. I'd say that is pretty good, especially when you look at Peavy's downside, Rios and his ups and downs, etc. I still believe that the Rangers RIDICULOUS trade they made for Garza messed up everyone's expectations for what Peavy would net the Sox.
  21. The idea of Ackley at 3rd base is not good, IMO. If you're getting Ackley, you might as well trade Beckham as Gillaspie provides better offense than Ackley.
  22. QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Dec 11, 2013 -> 12:12 AM) It's more like Jake Peavy, Alex Rios, Matt Thorton and Hector Santiago for Leury Garcia, Avisail Garcia, and Adam Eaton. I'm actually surprised this board is cool with that. Usually this board loves to preach the failure rate of prospects yet we traded 4 established MLBers (only one who needed to go) for 3 prospects, 2 of them very key to are future. I'd figure everyone here would prefer decent packages. If one Garcia or Eaton fails we will be in big big trouble and odds are that probably happens unfortunately. Well said, it's far too early to judge these trades, but I'm sure if would have asked anyone on this board a year ago, they would have hoped for a heck of a lot more in return. Thankfully they were able to get Abreu with some of the money saved.
  23. QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Dec 11, 2013 -> 12:03 AM) Honestly fathom do you trust Hahn to get value for De Aza? I see us trading him for some low level pitcher with an ERA of 5 but has a "live arm". I hope I'm wrong on that but I would rather just keep him at that point. Nope
