  1. Seems to me like one of the righty relievers is going to get dealt now.
  2. I like having a sinker baller in the pen. He did get busted a few years ago for cocaine.
  3. QUOTE (Harry Chappas @ Dec 6, 2013 -> 12:09 AM) How does Samardzija get involved in any conversation in which getting an ace is the team's priority. David Price or Jeff Samardzija.......ok No doubt in my mind that Samardzija is the most overrated player in baseball
  4. QUOTE (IowaSoxFan @ Dec 6, 2013 -> 12:03 AM) I think the Mariners packages would have to be Walker, Seager, Paxton, and then something like Tyler Marlette. Also could do a change of scenery swap of Beckham and Ackley in the deal. If you get them to include Walker and Seager, with other high-end guys involved, then you absolutely have to consider that.
  5. How about to Mariners for Walker, Franklin and others?
  6. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Dec 5, 2013 -> 10:38 PM) I expected them to be at least able to pretend to try. The more things happen this offseason, the more I wish the Sox would seriously consider trading Sale. There just seems to be an every-increasing gap between the top teams in the AL and the White Sox.
  7. QUOTE (IlliniKrush @ Dec 5, 2013 -> 10:23 PM) It may not be his job, but a blind man could have seen that travel, even if he wasn't looking for it. That travel would have been called in a 5th grade basketball game. Plus, the 2nd(!) travel happened after contact was done. There's not a whole lot else to look at. Agreed, and that's why I think he decided to let it go after he didn't call the ticky-tack touch foul (that we've seen called all year) on Egwu in the post. I'm not quite sure why Illinois didn't double-down on Miller, who was going up against a defender with 4 fouls (and GT is horrific from the perimeter). And don't get me wrong Illini fans, if GT lost by 1, I'm sure I would have been talking about the goal-tending that wasn't called and going on and on about how the refs were awful.
  8. QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Dec 5, 2013 -> 06:07 PM) Hadn't seen this on the shot that won GT the game: How on earth did the ref miss this? It's literally right in front of him. According to a former ref on the GT site, it's not that refs job to call the travel, as he's watching for contact between the players. It was a bad call, no doubt...but like I said yesterday, it just balances out the brutal goal-tend that wasn't called In reality, my best bet is that once the ref decided not to call Egwu for putting both hands on Miller's back, he just decided to let the play go and ended up allowing the blatant travel which makes him look foolish.
  9. I've seen people stating the Cubs are in a good position to get Tanaka.
  10. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Dec 4, 2013 -> 04:08 PM) Daryl Van Schouwen ‏@CST_soxvan 3m Konerko: “I’m looking forward to coming back in a new role ... 'where I can help the organization and teammates get turned around in the right direction and also do some productive things on the field.' GM Hahn: Paul will play an important role by collecting at-bats as the DH against certain left-handed pitching .. .. "and as an incredibly important mentor and leader within our clubhouse.” ..assisting Abreu’s transition into role of primary first baseman, as an option for Robin off the bench in specific game situations ... I'm liking the game plan.
  11. QUOTE (whitesoxfan99 @ Dec 4, 2013 -> 04:06 PM) Lol at that play not being called a travel. Miller walked before he dribbled and then took about 5 steps after he dribbled. Inexcusable to blow that lead against a bad GT team last night but also sucks to lose on a play like that. Makes up for the missed goal tending earlier in the 2nd half Agreed, that was a bad missed call in a big spot. Knowing the way refs have called games this year, I'm shocked they didn't call Egwu for a foul the second he put both of his hands on Miller's back before the drive. Watching the replay of the game, both teams were horrendous. There were 3 good players on the court last night in Rice, Carter Jr. and Georges-Hunt. The rest should be ashamed of their performance.
  12. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Dec 4, 2013 -> 03:13 PM) I am surprised Konerko came back. With Abreu in the fold, and Dunn still around, he has to know that PT will be fleeting, especially if his problems the last couple of years weren't just because of injury. My thought is I wonder if Paulie is looking at this as a chance to work in more of a "coaching" role to see if he likes the idea of doing this type of a job in the future. It has to be in the back of his head knowing that Kenny wanted to hire him as a manager. I was thinking it could lead to a quick transition after this coming year if Ventura isn't back.
  13. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Dec 4, 2013 -> 03:06 PM) It does push us closer to a AAA logjam with Sanchez, Semien, Brent Morel, and Leury all in AAA on paper right now. Leury SS Sanchez 2B Semien 3B Morel- they probably don't care
  14. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Dec 4, 2013 -> 03:04 PM) How about Keppinger for the TB catcher? That actually makes a ton of sense. Sox would likely have to chip in a lot of his remaining deal.
  15. QUOTE (Feeky Magee @ Dec 4, 2013 -> 03:54 PM) Surely he takes a pay cut? Right? If he's getting anything more than 2 or 3 million, then that would be ridiculous.
  16. We went from rebuilding to a retirement home Oh well, this isn't too big of a deal in my opinion. Sox are gonna be one of the worst teams in the majors next year anyways, hopefully PK can go out on a better note than he would have this year.
  17. hopefully as a pinch runner

QUOTE (SoxFan1 @ Dec 4, 2013 -> 02:03 AM) Re-watching season 1 of Prison Break, because it was/is amazing. I couldn't agree more. IIRC, it was the show that Fox heavily promoted during the 2005 WS broadcast.
  19. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Dec 4, 2013 -> 02:30 AM) Recruiting is such a crap shoot though. Tough loss but I think Groce can build on it unlike some other coaches. The problem is the Illini bench outside of Tate is about the worst I've seen in Champaign. With the way that fouls are being called now, you have to go more than 6 deep.
  20. QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Dec 4, 2013 -> 03:26 AM) yeah thats gonna hurt come march. gt is terrible. And GT has a ridiculous schedule coming up. I don't see them with more than 11-12 wins this year.
  21. QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Dec 4, 2013 -> 03:23 AM) Double win for fathom tonight. First time since I've been a GT fan
  22. I can't believe my boys beat the Illini tonight. Not shocked the big men for GT were getting away with travels, as they have bad footwork.
  23. QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Dec 4, 2013 -> 01:42 AM) Honestly would not have minded that. I'm happy the Cubs didn't get him.
  24. Ellsbury's going to be pretty great with that short porch in RF. People forget how deep Fenway is to right and right center once you get away from the RF line.
  25. QUOTE (Dunt @ Dec 3, 2013 -> 10:37 PM) Im not saying to make a deal just for no reason, but I would like to think this team wants to atleast be a little competitive next season. There are moves to be made, make them. If not, sell off parts and start this rebuild already. Isn't that what they did last year? There's not much left on the MLB roster to actually trade that you can get good value for.
