  1. QUOTE (MHizzle85 @ May 7, 2013 -> 11:53 PM) I'm getting the SNY feed & Ron Darling says that Santiago is telegraphing his changeup. So there's that... Interesting, as it seems his delivery is way quicker when he's throwing the changeup tonight.
  2. More dumb defensive decisions
  3. QUOTE (The Ginger Kid @ May 7, 2013 -> 11:39 PM) what's he advocating? Take him to right? Swing at the early fastball since you're not going to touch his slider
  4. Hawk is pretty pissed about the approach of the Sox hitters tonight.
  5. QUOTE (Jake @ May 7, 2013 -> 11:10 PM) The only real explanation for PK sitting out is that his body just isn't holding up like it used to Not true at all. Facing a dynamite righty pitcher with no DH is perfect time to rest Konerko.
  6. QUOTE (pettie4sox @ May 7, 2013 -> 10:47 PM) Off topic but Morel has walked twice today. Crazy. It's Trevor Bauer, even Keppinger could possibly draw a walk against him.
  7. QUOTE (TaylorStSox @ May 7, 2013 -> 09:33 PM) Dunn's actually decent at 1st. Sometimes I wonder if posters even watch the games or if they're too busy writing complaint posts. Considering there's a statue at first base most of the games, I don't think Dunn has been bad when he's been on the field.
  8. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ May 7, 2013 -> 09:18 PM) I've heard Julio Franco is available. Or Omar Vizquel. The problem with Dunn playing 1B is that he's horrible over there...and in LF. And the fact that we don't have a single player in the organization right now who profiles as a DH to replace him, other than Viciedo. And most would prefer Viciedo in LF/Dunn DH or Viciedo 1B/DUnn DH to Viciedo DH/Dunn 1B and trying to fill the LF hole with what we've got now in our system. That said, Marty's theory is that it's a lot easier to find a LFer than any position on the field, so we'll see what Hahn comes up with. There's definitely an argument that filling 1B/DH is just as easy with a Mark Reynolds/Carlos Pena/Lance Berkman/Eric Chavez type of player who's much less expensive than a premier DH. The counterargument would be someone like Josh Willingham, if you consider what the Twins are paying for him to be cheap. Dunn has been fine defensively at 1B since he's been on the Sox.
  9. QUOTE (knightni @ May 7, 2013 -> 09:58 PM) I hope that neither sees a starting job on the Sox. I still say that Konerko's last season in Chicago will be 2015. His contract ends in 2014 and he signs a one year deal. He needs to show he can still be a productive hitter. Some huge question marks about his bat speed.
  10. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ May 7, 2013 -> 09:54 PM) So the Sox claimed Lars Anderson first, then cleared him off of the 40 man by outrighting him to Charlotte. Today they claimed Mike McDade, another 1B. Are the Sox setting up for the end of the Paul Konerko era? If these are the contingency plans, then can we just sign Carlos Zambrano to play first base? I don't think bringing in minor league journeymen means much.
  11. QUOTE (Jake @ May 7, 2013 -> 04:28 PM) That's my favorite part of not being in a rebuild. When a player plays good, we start to envision how he can contribute to our team for years on end. When a player plays good for the Cubs, their fans just start to think about what players they'll get back in trade. I have not heard a single Cubs fan suggest they trade Rizzo or Castro, etc. There's a big difference between signing someone like Maholm or Feldman and then trying to trade them if their value is high as opposed to developing MLB caliber players. The Cubs know they can afford to extend the deals for their young players if they do pan out, unlike Tampa (besides Longoria).
  12. Cooper was on the radio this morning, and it sure seems like he's trying to get fans to prepare for mediocre velocity from Danks. Also, it sounded like Santiago could get moved from the starting rotation when Danks returns just based on Cooper's assessment of Santiago's contributions to the team.
  13. Pop just destroyed Jackson down the stretch of this game, wow
  14. QUOTE (fathom @ May 7, 2013 -> 05:56 AM) That long 3 pointer by Ginobili was one of the worst examples of shot selection I've ever seen. And he comes back and does that
  15. That long 3 pointer by Ginobili was one of the worst examples of shot selection I've ever seen.
  16. Refs doing Golden St. no favors here
  17. QUOTE (ChiSoxJon @ May 7, 2013 -> 03:59 AM) When I saw him play live about a month ago, it wasn't even that he had amazing speed, he had very good speed but was a very smart base-runner. If he continues stealing bags, will he eventually be a Top 20 ChiSox Prospect? He very well might be a top 10 if he keeps this up.
  18. Kyle Hansen with a great outing
  19. Oh Nate! Huge defensive possession here.
  20. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ May 7, 2013 -> 12:09 AM) The way I'm looking at this (to put a positive spin on it) is that the $3.5-4.0 million we're getting back in an insurance settlement is a lot more than we would have probably received back in talent...unless we really got lucky. Guess it's better than being stuck with Edwin Jackson. At least we're free and clear of every bad deal except for Dunn/Danks (at the moment). If you want to be mean, you can include Konerko for this season, and then new-found concern over Keppinger. How do you know how much they'll get back on insurance?
  21. Jeez Daequan
  22. Nice job by the bullpen and major credit to Danks for getting the big hit. We all hate him so far this year, but Kepp got the rally started in the 9th.
  23. QUOTE (IowanSoxFan @ May 6, 2013 -> 09:17 PM) WHO SAID DANKS SUCKED?? Statistics
  24. Haha! What a crazy sport. Good job Jordan Davis.
