White Sox @ Tribe 4/13 GAME THREAD
Hey, what a shock, the pitcher who's nasty against lefties gets the lefty hitter out.

White Sox @ Tribe 4/13 GAME THREAD
QUOTE (flavum @ Apr 13, 2013 -> 09:00 PM) Remember that year the Sox went on the road for 10 games and lost them all? And returned home to 12k in attendance and wanted to know why fans won't support them?

QUOTE (Capn12 @ Apr 13, 2013 -> 08:59 PM) I'd say something about being frustrated, but...really nothing left to say about this team right now. This is a bad team right now. They flat out weren't prepared coming out of ST.

Way to pitch to the righty with a lefty on deck and an open base.

White Sox @ Tribe 4/13 GAME THREAD
QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Apr 13, 2013 -> 08:52 PM) So, basically exactly what people wanted him to do? Swing earlier, put the ball in play, stop swinging for the fences every time? And to those people, I say that's a bad idea. The scary thing with Dunn's struggles is that he's hitting around .150 and it's been almost entirely against RHP. Considering how many players in our core lineup really struggle vs RHP, he needs to be a much bigger force.

QUOTE (southsideirish71 @ Apr 13, 2013 -> 08:50 PM) Well Dunn is consistent. 1 for his last 18, and of those 17 outs, only 3 Ks

White Sox @ Tribe 4/13 GAME THREAD
Well, I guess they'll just make him a closer for a week again Whatever the plan was in Spring Training, it doesn't seem like our starters built up enough arm strength.

White Sox @ Tribe 4/13 GAME THREAD
Went back and looked at the pitch selection in the 1st inning...why are you throwing a 3-2 change-up with 2 outs and no one one to their worst hitter in Raburn?

QUOTE (Capn12 @ Apr 13, 2013 -> 09:28 PM) Flowers is totally locked in right now. Here's a question...if Flowers totally flops this year, how do the Sox acquire a catcher for next season? It would seem trading for someone would have to be the way to go.

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Apr 13, 2013 -> 09:20 PM) Sale looked so good for 2 batters, then suddenly...tie game. Our starters seem to enjoy giving up runs after our offense scores. The next progression in Sale's game has to come in preventing the long ball to righties.

Is Ventura a good game manager?
QUOTE (Marty34 @ Apr 13, 2013 -> 03:53 PM) I don't think Ventura is a good game manager, but that's not what this team needs at this point. They are more rebuilding than contending and last year Ventura showed he is able to create an atmosphere that allows players to play to their potential. Figuring out what they have is goal #1 this year. I love this post

Is Ventura a good game manager?
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Apr 13, 2013 -> 04:22 PM) 2= The Sox hadn't been getting hits off of Masterson, and didn't want to have to string 3 or 4 straight hits together to score a run. It's not like Masterson is a fly ball pitcher that's easy to hit a sac fly against.

Is Ventura a good game manager?
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Apr 13, 2013 -> 04:22 PM) 1= Ventura had the pen go deep in the last three games, and didn't want to go to the pen early It's pretty simple, don't have your long reliever pitch an inning the night before your weakest starter is going the next day against a top offense. Also, what's the point of having 3 lefties in the bullpen if you're not going to take advantage of match-ups. Hawk and Stone have a better feel for the Sox personnel so far it seems than the coaching staff.

QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Apr 13, 2013 -> 05:04 AM) He shouldn't ever be playing CF, any more than Nick Swisher for us. He's a very good RFer, with an excellent arm, but not suited for CF because of range/speed/route issues. With Heisey playing terrible, they should just put Hamilton in CF and Choo in LF.

Official Recruiting Thread II
QUOTE (Boogua @ Apr 13, 2013 -> 05:21 AM) He averaged 12.5 PPG in the big east as a true sophomore. He shot 40% from 3 on 5 attempts per game. i would be willing to wager that he starts when able (as a redshirt junior). He would definitely start this year if eligible. I doubt Kendrick Nunn is going to Illinois though to not start until his senior year (assuming Hill start as the SF).

QUOTE (Boogua @ Apr 13, 2013 -> 05:06 AM) So it looks like Aaron Cosby, a transfer from seton hall, is going to Illinois (just tweeted I-L-L and people are saying he committed). Huge pickup if true Saw him play a lot in the Big East, and he's a solid player but I see him as more of a 6th man for Illinois. He'll be a good fit for their perimeter based offense as long as he doesn't have to make a lot of decisions with the ball.
