  1. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Jul 28, 2012 -> 02:17 AM) Dead arms are something you pitch threw. Hurt arms are something you don't. There is a major difference. His next two starts would be against the Twins and Royals. I'm ok shutting him down for 2 weeks.
  2. QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Jul 28, 2012 -> 02:13 AM) Dead arm for sure. No way he's out there if he's feeling any discomfort whatsoever. It was bound to happen, it'll be interesting how the Sox handle this for the next few weeks. DL him, and let Santiago start against the Twins next week. Even if it's a dead arm, you don't want him trying to alter his mechanics to push through it.
  3. QUOTE (MurcieOne @ Jul 28, 2012 -> 02:12 AM) RV will leave him in for only 115 pitches tonight. Take it easy on him. Sox will trade Reed cause Sale will be made the closer
  4. QUOTE (Caesar @ Jul 28, 2012 -> 02:09 AM) Why are theyy keeping Sale out there? For those not watching, after every pitch, Hawk and Stoney are discussing the velocity and saying "there's a soft fastball", etc
  5. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Jul 28, 2012 -> 12:58 AM) Who I happen to think is the best team in baseball, just got better. They still have a good shot of having to play a 1 game series to play in the real playoffs though. I expect the Angels believe they have a chance at resigning Greinke. If they don't, steap price they paid. However, he really makes them (imo) the best team in that division (especially since if it hadn't been Anaheim, it probably is Texas, who really could use another starter). I think it's a great trade for Anaheim due to not losing anyone off their Major League roster and that he's made it seem like he'd be willing to sign an extension there.
  6. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Jul 28, 2012 -> 02:01 AM) Might have more to do with not pitching over a couple weeks span. When you think about it, they gave him rest, but it also might have kind of created the potential for a dead-arm period (kind of like pitchers get early in spring). Again, pure speculation, but I'm really hoping that he isn't hurting and this is more just something he needs to pitch through. That isn't to say he can't get hurt, clearly he can, however, if there was any soreness, I highly doubt the Sox would have him out there. Well said
  7. QUOTE (JohnCangelosi @ Jul 28, 2012 -> 01:56 AM) Wow. See you in 2014 perhaps after the TJ surgery? Way too early to speculate that. It's more likely fatigue, as I'm sure the Sox staff have asked him tonight if anything's hurting.
  8. QUOTE (JohnCangelosi @ Jul 28, 2012 -> 12:53 AM) Are these fastballs at 86-87? Yep, they have got to pull him.
  9. This is insane, with regards to his velocity. When a pitcher's velocity is down 5 mph, something is clearly not right with him. I really hope it's only fatigue.
  10. I love the "It's all good", as it means something good took place.
  11. Wow, a Youk BOMB! 4-3...amazing how similar this is to the Sale/Kershaw showdown
  12. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jul 28, 2012 -> 01:40 AM) 1-2 more runs, they definitely need to pull him, even if it's only the 2nd inning. Probably have him go 120 pitches I wouldn't mind stretching out Santiago in case you need an emergency start from him.
  13. QUOTE (Knackattack @ Jul 28, 2012 -> 01:37 AM) A 15 day DL trip for a dead arm would be nice. The trade deadline is coming at the perfect time
  14. QUOTE (Marty34 @ Jul 28, 2012 -> 12:36 AM) Two starts in a row his velocity is down. Three, it was down in KC also. Thanks Ozzie and KW and Cooper for making him a reliever last year...ugh
  15. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jul 28, 2012 -> 12:36 AM) Sale looks like he's going through a dead arm....really struggling. Velocity has been down a couple of MPH the last couple of times out. At least he was allowed to throw 96 mph in a worthless ASG inning!
  16. QUOTE (The Ginger Kid @ Jul 28, 2012 -> 12:35 AM) Fastball has nothing Nope, probably a good move to skip his next start or two.
  17. QUOTE (Caesar @ Jul 28, 2012 -> 01:34 AM) Like I said. He looks horrible. Pull him, as he's clearly not 100%
  18. Wow, what a terrible start. Flowers calling an awful game as well.
  19. QUOTE (The Ginger Kid @ Jul 28, 2012 -> 01:32 AM) That's exactly what the Ranger announcers are saying Cooper might want to go to the mound to make sure he's ok. It's pretty obvious he doesn't feel strong out there.
  20. QUOTE (EvilJester99 @ Jul 28, 2012 -> 01:32 AM) Sale hitting that wall.... Hopefully it's fatigue and not any elbow issues.
  21. QUOTE (Caesar @ Jul 28, 2012 -> 01:31 AM) We need a starter ASAP. Sale looks horrible No, we need Sale to pitch better. It's not like an acquired starter would take Sale's place anyways.
  22. This doesn't even look like the same Chris Sale.
