  1. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Jul 17, 2012 -> 02:38 AM) Maybe the 9th if it was tied. Who knows, if he brought him out and he got hit around you would be all over that decision too. So you're saving Thornton for a 9th inning with all righties up? If the Red Sox had a lineup full of lefties, then I understand you saving him. However, the 8th inning was clearly the trouble inning, and you hate losing without your best option on the mound.
  2. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Jul 17, 2012 -> 02:36 AM) How so? OUr last manager loses that series at KC for sure. The ump closing his strike zone didnt help there but I'm sure there is a reason he trotted out septimo instead of someone else. Seems like frustration at the scoreboard makes alot of opinions sway towards the overreaction zone. Terrible use of Axelrod in last game before the ASB, using the much slower Hudson to pr instead of Danks/Escobar, and the absolutely terrible decision of leaving Peavy in way too long on Saturday.
  3. Tigers leading, Boesch is a beast for them now. Crappy last 5 minutes
  4. Septimo and his awful control is a terrible match-up against the patient Red Sox hitters. This reminded me of Marte against the Red Sox in Game 3 of the ALDS.
  5. QUOTE (Baron @ Jul 17, 2012 -> 02:35 AM) This is his first year. Give the man a break. Its not like the bullpen has a bunch of AAA players in it or anything. Again, is Thornton hurt? If not, it's ridiculous he wasn't used this inning.
  6. QUOTE (kwolf68 @ Jul 17, 2012 -> 02:34 AM) Forget the fact this stinky pitcher didn't get it done? Just what was Ventura saving Thornton for? The bottom of the order with all righties?
  7. QUOTE (Baron @ Jul 17, 2012 -> 02:33 AM) Kenny we need bullpen help! And bench coach help. You have Matt Thornton, you freaking use him there. Tigers tied it
  8. QUOTE (southsideirish71 @ Jul 17, 2012 -> 02:33 AM) 8 rookie pitchers, and a rookie manager..... Ventura is either asleep, or lost right now. He's been unbelievably awful the last handful of games.
  9. Nicely done Ventura...Go Angels
  10. Septimo totally balked on that 1-1 pitch.
  11. Hawk with the rookie excuse...I didn't know Thornton's a rookie.
  12. Brutal, some more bad managing.
  13. Inning set up perfectly for Thornton. Not sure what you're saving him for if you don't use him this inning.
  14. QUOTE (Melissa1334 @ Jul 17, 2012 -> 02:22 AM) lets not forget deaza is really struggling too He hit a few balls hard in KC at least. It's PK and Beckham who seem to be pushing the bat through the zone.
  15. Beckham is just overmatched against every fastball he gets. I can't remember the last time he pulled a ball hard. Beckham and Konerko really must be buddies, as they look the same at the plate.
  16. QUOTE (kapzk @ Jul 17, 2012 -> 02:10 AM) Great start DA! Everything you could ask for and more! Hell of a 4 day span for him.
  17. QUOTE (Marty34 @ Jul 17, 2012 -> 02:03 AM) Viciedo needs a platoon partner. I disagree about a platoon, but I still think Ventura needs to find some at bats once in a while for Danks against RHP.
  18. Considering Cook's splits and 3 lefties coming up, today would have been a good day for Danks to play.
  19. QUOTE (The Ginger Kid @ Jul 17, 2012 -> 12:58 AM) He's the King. He'll be fine, just needs to battle thru this lull. He will turn it around. Unless he's not healthy, which it sure seems like
  20. QUOTE (kapzk @ Jul 17, 2012 -> 12:53 AM) So when can we call our offense being in a funk. Poor hitting and that especially coming against s***ty pitchers Not yet, considering we scored 9 runs against old nemesis Bruce Chen
  21. Can Konerko please go to the DL? If not that, move him to 6th in the order. It's ridiculous with him right now.
  22. Cook's making it look easy with that sinker now. 7 of 8 outs on the ground.
  23. I still laugh at how easy Axelrod made that scoop look on Friday night in the last inning of the game.
  24. Cook has that sinker working tonight.
  25. Tied after 1...could be worse. Axelrod just has to keep it within a run or two going into the 6th.
