QUOTE (chw42 @ Aug 18, 2012 -> 03:12 AM) Coop and Robin have let him and Peavy throw far too many pitches. A lot of the times, it's lost the club games. Given how Crain and Myers are throwing the ball, you can no longer say Sale and Peavy are the best options to get the big outs in those tough spots. That's a credit to Crain and Myers.

117 pitches for Sale on 4 days rest after throwing 114 pitches just seems like way too much.

I wonder if Ventura knows that Crain is one of the best pitchers in baseball against righties, and that coming into the game, Perez OPS was nearly .400 pts higher vs LHP? Ventura is just making awful decisions of late.

GT 8/17: CHW @ KAN, 7:10pm CT
And another brutal decision by Ventura. Absolutely awful leaving Sale in. At some point, he's got to stop leaving Sale out there for a ton of pitches every outing.
-
GT 8/17: CHW @ KAN, 7:10pm CT
You gotta go with Crain here, as Perez has crushed LHP this year.

Great sequence to Gordon. Gotta walk Butler here, and it's a tough call on whether or not to go with Sale or Crain.

KC with their usual great at bats late against the Sox. Sale's making all sorts of awful pitches the last few innings, with so many pitches up in the zone.

Rios continues to bail a bit at the plate. He's just opening up a little early, and it's leaving him vulnerable to the outer half.

Hell of a play by Youk!

QUOTE (chw42 @ Aug 18, 2012 -> 01:38 AM) Sale's giving up way too many home runs lately. 8 over his last 27 innings. I can't believe he keeps throwing fastballs to Butler though.
-
GT 8/17: CHW @ KAN, 7:10pm CT
When the hell is he going to stop throwing Butler fastballs? That's three identical homers off of him over last two years.

Very nice! How about #400 this inning?

Ugh, Sale can't put away Abreu. Tough inning ahead.

Way to go Gordon. Alexei had a great secondary lead it seemed, as he scored easily.

QUOTE (justBLAZE @ Aug 18, 2012 -> 02:12 AM) If anyone can get to that Tigers bullpen is the Orioles. Of course we will probably see Verlander pitch a CG. Verlander's probably done with almost 120 pitches

QUOTE (daa84 @ Aug 18, 2012 -> 01:10 AM) goddamnit - orioles played a righty shift on a guy who uses the whole field well in cabrera, and he hits a squibber that would have bene right at the second baseman next pitch is absolutely grooved for a 2 run bomb to prince Orioles should have gone to the lefty to face Prince it seems. You get 5.1 innings for Hunter, you should consider yourself lucky.
-
GT 8/17: CHW @ KAN, 7:10pm CT
And Prince and the Tigers tie it up at 3
