  1. If PK was player-manager, would he fine himself?
  2. QUOTE (Jake @ May 17, 2012 -> 09:32 PM) I don't know why they'd want him. I'm sure a lot of teams think they can fix him. Hopefully KW will consider all options and possibly trade him for another talented player who might need a change of scenery (ie: a greater version of the Stewart for Colvin trade).
  3. QUOTE (JoeCoolMan24 @ May 17, 2012 -> 08:29 PM) Good job AJ, on the single and forcing a run down! What are our base runners doing!!! :)
  4. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ May 17, 2012 -> 08:25 PM) Beckham is clearly looking to go to the right side now on nearly every pitch. That's resulting in opposing pitchers throwing inside on him...Gordon has to learn how to turn on those pitches again. It's one thing to look up the middle or just to make solid contact, but limiting yourself to 1/3rd of the field (where it's very hard for you to drive the ball out), not such a good strategy. Gordon out-thinking himself again. Apparently, Mike Scioscia inquired about Beckham (with Ed Farmer) and wanted to know the backstory about his personality and make-up...said the Angels would be interested in acquiring him. Probably to play 3b then, as they have Kendrick at 2nd. Knowing KW, he'll go after Callapso just cause he's a Sox killer.
  5. QUOTE (kapzk @ May 17, 2012 -> 08:24 PM) Dunn slumping 4-40 with 23 K against LHP. He can't be batting 3rd vs LHP, especially if you have the equally poor against LHP in De Aza batting 1st.
  6. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ May 17, 2012 -> 07:59 PM) The M's just took the lead again in extras. And the Tigers lost to the Twins. Morneau's back again. Survived a bunch of solo homers against them. King Jinx strikes again :)
  7. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ May 17, 2012 -> 09:05 PM) Who goes for the Cubs on Sunday? It's Samardzija and then Dempster the next 2 days, and if we have to choose we may as well do the platoon thing. Maholm
  8. Much better 1st inning for Sale than last time out. Get us going Tank
  9. Jose Lopez ties the game at 4 vs Seattle. Delabar has some ridiculous splits vs lefties/righties.
  10. I watched a little of the Cubs game last night, and Brenly was saying how great Soriano's defense has been this year.
  11. QUOTE (Jake @ May 17, 2012 -> 05:48 PM) I also feel like a Youkilis trade would get the town buzzing. It would send a message (maybe not a terribly accurate one) that we're still trying to win and are willing to bring in a big name to do it. Adding Youkilis wouldn't increase attendance, IMO. It really makes no sense to bring him in, as KW needs to start getting assets for the future and not immediate upgrades. He should be targeting the top 3rd base/catcher prospects in the majors right now, and seeing what he'd have to do to go out and get those guys for 2013.
  12. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ May 17, 2012 -> 05:29 PM) I'm sure you could make list that goes the other way as well. I know we beat up Smyly worse than anyone else has this year. ie: Alex Rios beating the Rangers on only homer of the year!
  13. I'm sure a lot of NL teams don't mind getting one of their big hitters a breather for a 3 game period by letting them DH and not play in the field.
  14. Thought today would have been a good day to get Lillibridge in the game somewhere, and I'm surprised Flowers isn't playing today with the quick turnaround.
  15. I've always thought it's absolutely ridiculous that they make AL pitchers hit in the interleague games at NL parks. With all the money invested in pitchers, there's just too much of an injury risk having these guys hit when it's not something they practice for all year (like their NL counterparts).
  16. I thought both pitches to Lawrie were close enough to be called strikes. I thought he should have got 8-10 games.
  17. So, I think Aroldis Chapman is having a pretty solid season so far.
  18. QUOTE (TaylorStSox @ May 17, 2012 -> 05:37 AM) Anyway, I'm one of the biggest homers you'll ever find and even I'm ready for the Brent Morel era to die...forever. Please, KW, as a parting shot, don't f*** up the deadline trades. It is amazing how many young Sox hitters take HUGE steps back in their 2nd season. Maybe it's the curse of Mike Caruso, as we've seen this with Fields and Beckham also. At least we can't blame Greg Walker for this (and yes, that's sincere and not sarcasm).
  19. .396 OPS for Morel. He's 50 points worse than the next closest person. He's having quite the awful season so far.
  20. You're awesome Morel. I advocate keeping him up in the majors, but it would be interesting to see if he could even hit AAA pitching right now with his back injury/swing.
  21. QUOTE (justBLAZE @ May 17, 2012 -> 05:30 AM) not full time!! only for the Cubs series, interleague. Campana might have 10 bunt hits this weekend if we make that move. I don't think for a second the Sox will do that. Escobar will get an extended look at 3b if they bench Morel.
  22. QUOTE (Jake @ May 17, 2012 -> 05:29 AM) So if you make DV the full time 3B, who plays LF? For this year, Fukudome/Lillibridge?
  23. QUOTE (Jake @ May 17, 2012 -> 05:28 AM) We're gonna have a hard time if our starters can't get through the sixth inning for several starts in a row (like these past 3 games). Trying to decide if we should just tip our cap to this Williams, the part of the game I saw he looked pretty good. Williams was bad tonight. He was up in the zone with everything the first 6 innings. He got lucky with a handful of rockets hit right at their defenders. It's honestly one of the least impressive 8 inning, 2 run performances you'll see.
