  1. QUOTE (JoshPR @ May 15, 2012 -> 09:41 PM) AJ 5-5 Just in time for him to mess up the Cubs again
  2. QUOTE (flavum @ May 15, 2012 -> 10:38 PM) Could have gone up 5-3 in the season series. Sox give away too many games. The bullpen is losing far too many games for the Sox as of late. Not only are they letting the opposition take the lead, but they're not keeping the game within shouting distance either.
  3. It would be great for a rainout on Sunday vs the Cubs. That would allow Peavy two extra days of rest.
  4. The question to ask is whether or not the Sox would be better with De Aza in LF, Rios in CF and Viciedo in RF. I don't necessarily think it would make too big of a difference, so I think for the long term, you let De Aza play in CF and hope he can be your CF even after Rios' contract expires.
  5. QUOTE (Jake @ May 15, 2012 -> 09:04 PM) It's really hard to manage when your starter gives up so many runs in so few batters Wait, what? It was the 6th inning, not the 2nd. It's fine though, I just hate using the one lefty in the bullpen who is a LOOGY for multiple batters. Ventura has no clue how to use a LOOGY apparently, but he'll learn.
  6. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ May 15, 2012 -> 09:27 PM) Closer madness continues: David Robertson to the DL with an oblique strain Matt Thornton please
  7. Righties are 7-21 with 3 homers this year vs Ohman...I can't believe they brought him in to face the tough D. Kelly with Delmon waiting on the bench. Was Crain warming up?
  8. Wow, went away when it was 6-0 and thought the 10 was a typo. I'm so tired of the way Ventura uses Ohman. Is Hawk still going to tell us that the bullpen isn't a problem?
  9. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ May 15, 2012 -> 07:57 PM) Dynamic pricing has taken away day of game sales, and people do work. That's a much bigger crowd than I expected today.
  10. Big inning for Peavy there to hopefully go 7.
  11. QUOTE (chw42 @ May 15, 2012 -> 07:40 PM) Peavy looks like he's on-par for a 6 inning start. At least Crain is back
  12. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ May 15, 2012 -> 07:30 PM) Rios saved AJ being dead at the plate. Yep, that's good baseball by Rios.
  13. QUOTE (Jake @ May 15, 2012 -> 07:19 PM) Typically slow "we're winning" game thread 144 posts for a Tuesday day game in the 4th inning is pretty busy actually
  14. QUOTE (Jake @ May 15, 2012 -> 07:06 PM) The pitches he selects to swing at are much better. Now he needs to be hitting line drives and going opposite field again. He's back to the high pop/weak grounder trajectory that I always worry about with his swing He hit a couple of hard liners right at Francoeur over the weekend.
  15. QUOTE (Harry Chappas @ May 15, 2012 -> 07:04 PM) Gordon now 0 for his last 11 so much for new approach. He still looks way better than he did in April
  16. QUOTE (Soxfest @ May 15, 2012 -> 06:55 PM) Morel way overmatched. 1-13 with 7K in his career vs Max. Tough match-up for Morel given Max's stuff.
  17. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ May 15, 2012 -> 06:48 PM) And last night... Last night was a game the Sox had no business winning. Heck, even in the big 6th inning, Viciedo's single up the middle could have easily been a DP if it was hit a few feet to either side. Nice to win one of those games though.
  18. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ May 15, 2012 -> 07:44 PM) Could have also easily been nothing if you go back to the potential DP at 1B with Beckham Hard to argue when Detroit easily could have scored a few runs in the first also.
  19. QUOTE (Jake @ May 15, 2012 -> 07:25 PM) without a particularly fast team and no 1 high volume base stealer a la Pierre Morel's done a great job on the bases this year.
  20. QUOTE (chw42 @ May 15, 2012 -> 05:39 PM) De Aza's not bad at all. He has his misplays (like last night), but he has very good range for a CFer. Putting him in a corner would be a waste of his speed. Where is this range? I've seen a few people mention this, but I feel like he's really struggled defensively. One of the biggest issues I've seen with his defense is that he plays so damn deep, so when there's a liner hit in front of him, he has a real difficult time keeping the ball in front of him due to having to run in so fast to try and keep it. It's caused a few singles to turn into doubles and triples this year.
  21. QUOTE (greg775 @ May 15, 2012 -> 04:10 AM) Does Reed have good movement on the fastball? Why not many swings and misses? He gets a ton of swing and misses on his fastball.
  22. Ballgame! Hell of a job by Stewart and Viciedo tonight.
  23. QUOTE (iamshack @ May 15, 2012 -> 04:07 AM) C'mon...in on the fisties He's more of an outer half to righties type of pitcher. Most closers are.
  24. I have a feeling Reed tried to aim that slider, as he didn't want to hit Boesch.
