  1. QUOTE (sircaffey @ May 5, 2012 -> 01:54 AM) They may as well trade him. Reed is the best RP in the organization. Does make you wonder what they're going to do with both of those guys? Makes no sense going forward of wasting Reed as a set-up man. Hell, try trading Reed and Thornton for Trumbo.
  2. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ May 5, 2012 -> 02:44 AM) Yes, but it would not make the Bulls far enough under the cap to offer anyone a solid deal, only avoid luxury tax worries. Thanks
  3. Can the Bulls still amnesty Boozer after the season?
  4. QUOTE (Jake @ May 5, 2012 -> 02:41 AM) Is Bruce Weber coaching this team? Ha, it does remind me of their late game collapses.
  5. QUOTE (Jake @ May 5, 2012 -> 02:36 AM) You've held up for so long, don't be that fan now. Win win win White Sox! I'm a "go big or go home" believer. Once Sox are eliminated, I'm all for them losing every game they play. It's not a bad thing to move up higher in the draft, as you never know when you'll be able to draft the closer of the future.
  6. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ May 5, 2012 -> 03:27 AM) And what does that have to do with bringing in an injured Noah to injure his ankle worse? I was out of town, but what was the consensus on here about Rose still being in the game when he got hurt?
  7. QUOTE (Jake @ May 5, 2012 -> 02:26 AM) Hey at least there's a good part of today's bad news. We shouldn't be worried about blown saves any longer. Screw it, there's almost a part of me that hopes Sale absolutely tanks as closer so that they might reconsider their decision.
  8. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ May 5, 2012 -> 02:20 AM) Agreed. What a pathetic coaching decision to bring an injured player back in. I know this sounds shocking, but over the last 7 days, I've found myself more confused by Bulls/Sox coaching/personnel moves than ever before.
  9. QUOTE (flavum @ May 5, 2012 -> 03:18 AM) Remember this thread? May 4th around 5pm... this team became dead to me. At least we have Beckham to give us a thrill right now
  10. Limping Popping Pistols should be a fantasy bball team name
  11. QUOTE (Marty34 @ May 5, 2012 -> 02:14 AM) Nah, LaRussa signed off on the Ventura hire. Interesting, thanks
  12. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ May 5, 2012 -> 02:08 AM) As I've been arguing, you have to make Santiago a starter, right now, with Charlotte. Axelrod can get his audition, but without Sale and Molina looking iffy for the rotation (nobody at this site can argue credibly he's looked like anything more than a back of the rotation guy), we're back to 1998/99 all over again. Attendance in the 1998-99 figures. At this point, Kenny Williams just needs to leave and wipe the slate clean. This is a 3 year fix, at best, without Sale. It's almost to the point where they'd be better off doing the Tommy John surgery today before he even blows his elbow out and bringing him back as a starter again in 2013. What's the difference? We're going to do the same thing with Sale we did with Santos and trade him for a back of the rotation guy with control who throws about the same velocity as Phil Humber? Wow buddy, you went from overly optimistic a week ago to this rant. Very bleak day for the organization, no doubt about it. Hopefully Beckham continues to play well and gives us a reason to watch.
  13. QUOTE (greg775 @ May 5, 2012 -> 03:06 AM) You'd think the law of averages would help our managers. But instead we always get walked off; Sox never do the walking off. When LaRussa takes over as GM, it will be interesting to see who he brings in as manager
  14. QUOTE (Jake @ May 5, 2012 -> 02:03 AM) It is clear that Ventura is willing to lose games to develop his young players. He was willing to throw Hector into the fire to the detriment of the team's record and he is staying true to the plan of keeping Reed out of the closer's role indefinitely. He's willing to sacrifice wins for the long term health of Sale. He was willing to sacrifice wins to see if we have anything in Beckham, Morel, Viciedo. Random s*** has to go right to win in a "rebuild" year like this. So far all the predictable things have gone wrong. This is a good post, but if they're so intent on rebuilding, then Flowers should be getting a hell of a lot more at bats
  15. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ May 5, 2012 -> 02:01 AM) Now the only question is whether 2-8 becomes 5-19 and the full rebuilding/trade all assets talk begins again. It should be happening regardless of how next 10 games go.
  16. QUOTE (Jake @ May 5, 2012 -> 01:59 AM) Shame on Kenny for not starting Chris Sale in the minors when we're all in. Shame on Kenny for not bringing in a bonafide closer to a rebuilding team so that we would not be a rebuilding team. If we were going to win this year, someone who hadn't been a closer was going to have to close. That's just how it goes sometimes, the Rays do it every year. Matt Thornton is not a closer...this isn't exactly breaking news. The decision to make Santiago the closer out of ST was just beyond stupid, and there's a reason that virtually every baseball expert suggested Reed should be the closer.
  17. QUOTE (Capn12 @ May 5, 2012 -> 01:59 AM) Why in God's name is RV so scared to use Addison Reed as a closer? EVERYONE seems to think that should be the case, yet...we're doing 2011 again all over. MT has proven his worth in the closing role before. I really worry that Ventura has no idea of how to use his personnel.
  18. QUOTE (Jake @ May 5, 2012 -> 01:58 AM) On the bright side, we outplayed these p*****s tonight. Let's get 'em tomorrow and we'll know who to pitch in the 9th What the heck are you talking about?
  19. QUOTE (Baron @ May 5, 2012 -> 01:57 AM) I didnt realize we traded Addison Reed Shame on Kenny for not forcing him into the closer spot. Every decision this organization made during Spring Training has been the wrong one.
  20. QUOTE (Capn12 @ May 5, 2012 -> 01:55 AM) Your friendly reminder, that Matt Thornton IS NOT AN F'N CLOSER... Ventura is just an awful manager so far.
  21. Kenny, you did a great job of leaving this team without a closer this year.
  22. Well, Matt Thornton is not a closer. Ventura completely uses his bullpen wrong again. Why do you have Reed warming up there?
  23. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ May 5, 2012 -> 01:50 AM) He was cheering too hard for a Beckham single or triple there, lol? Said it was a base hit instead of saying it was an easy grounder
