QUOTE (kapzk @ Apr 19, 2012 -> 02:41 AM) was it a potential DP that Morel messed up? Oh yeah...Alexei and Peavy picked him up though. Morel easily could have 4 or 5 errors already this year.

Morel's had a great series for the Orioles

QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Apr 19, 2012 -> 01:24 AM) 6 K's for Peavy already...continuing the trend from the Tigers' game. 7 now, you have to feel good for Jake that he's experiencing some success again this season, after everything. Hope it lasts. Guess this while quiet all the talk about his hard partying ways. Peavy's mechanics look as good tonight as they have since he's been here. Great follow-through

Morel and Beckham look so defeated at the plate.

De Aza is an extra base machine. Really love how the ball is flying off his bat.

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Apr 18, 2012 -> 08:29 PM) That is a very interesting idea. Especially in the case of a rumored deal of some sort, that would be really nice to have somewhere to get just the facts, instead of the 100 different discussions that go with it. My question back would be, would you want it as its own thread, or is it something you would rather see in a facebook/twitter feed format? Just one thread for "trade rumors" another for "FA rumors" etc. Obviously, if there's a big trade rumor out there, I'm sure there would be a separate thread with commentary going on as well.
-
During the offseason, let there be one thread dedicated to any and all specific report/twitter announcement with breaking news (that doesn't contain commentary by posters) so people don't have to go through hundreds of posts to get the latest updates on a possible transaction.

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Apr 18, 2012 -> 08:49 PM) I agree. He really gets deep into counts and can handle the bat. We just have no real lead off hitters. I get the feeling if we stuck Rios there, he would go Nick Swisher on us and have a mental breakdown. And that's worse than what we've seen from him for the over a year and a half now? Nothing else is working with him, might as well try and let him reinvent himself as a stolen base threat.

QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Apr 18, 2012 -> 07:46 PM) If this team is going to compete, it has to have its younger players develop and produce, and they simply can't do that when you are moving them around ane benching them after playing 8 games. If they are NOT going to compete, then play the kids anyway and see what they can do. Either way, making wholesale changes at this point makes zero sense. You make some good points there. The biggest issue I have with everything going on is that Morel just doesn't seem like a good fit as a 2nd hitter no matter what. His approach seems to have been impacted as well, as he's taking more pitches earlier in the count and then chasing pitches way out of the zone. Morel did nothing last season to suggest he shouldn't be an 8 or 9 hitter for the next few years, but unfortunately seems like the Sox are trying to force him into the spot.

I was thinking that I'd love to see Rios get a shot at leading off and De Aza batting 2nd. De Aza does a real good job of taking pitches, and it would also open up the hole for him between 1st and 2nd (De Aza pulls a ton of grounders in that direction) a lot more than it does when he's batting after Beckham does. Also, Konerko should be batting 3rd, as you have to get him as many at bats as possible.

I was a little concerned the other day when Dunn said he got all of the ball against Valverde, and the wind kept it in the park. In the old days, Dunn had enough power to hit it out of any park with any wind conditions.

QUOTE (flavum @ Apr 18, 2012 -> 05:20 PM) Yes, and that's dumb. This is the easiest stretch of schedule out of the 6 months, and he's going to bury the team in the first 40 games because of being too nice. Yep, plenty of time to put Morel back into the 2nd spot if the team falls out of contention like the experts predict. Really disappointed in these lineup decisions so far. I understand trying to establish a set lineup, but you also have to try and put your team in a solid position to win games. Tough call for Ventura right now

QUOTE (South Side Fireworks Man @ Apr 18, 2012 -> 04:12 AM) Send Beckham down and bring up a third catcher. That frees up AJ and Flowers to DH. Dunn can sit. Start Lillibridge at 2B. I'm sick of watching Beckham and Dunn bat. Lillibridge and Flowers absolutely should be playing whenever we face a LHP. I like your idea a lot!

QUOTE (Baron @ Apr 18, 2012 -> 03:57 AM) I think we need to just go ahead and fired Ventura.Forfeit the rest of the games this season as well. So far, I think he's done an ok job handling the pitching, a very solid job deciding if/when to run or bunt, and he seems scared to make any changes to the lineup. Just like with rookie players, you're going to get rookie mistakes by managers as well. Hopefully we start to see some changes soon. -

Morel should take 5 minutes to apologize to each individual that was at the game tonight. -

Unreal, can't find a hole out there. Real bad luck that he wasn't guarding the line. -

QUOTE (The Ginger Kid @ Apr 18, 2012 -> 02:24 AM) lol! lots of doom and gloom around here already. some players are playing some really, really s***ty baseball right now, but not all, not by a LONG stretch. Ref***inglax fellas. I think there'd be a much different vibe if it was the Dunn/Beckham/Morel/Rios group that was playing well and Konerko/AJ were struggling. This just seems way too much like 2011 for a lot of people. -

Dunn is so far out in front of pitches from lefties, he has no chance to hit anything hard and keep it in play. -
