Nice fastball by Reed to get Cabrera. Just needs to tighten up his slider a little.

Tyler Flowers is pretty freaking awful. He needs Tim Laker to help him out again, as his swing is significantly longer than it was when he was promoted.

QUOTE (greg775 @ Sep 14, 2011 -> 02:54 AM) All I was saying is Ozzie should not rip the White Sox or Jerry in his Marlins' press conference, but he could at least explain his hatred of KW, which is what ultimately would be the reason he gets let go if he gets let go. What's wrong with that? And this is my take on why he basically is unwilling to listen to KW at all. Oz IMO thinks he's better than Kenny; I think that is a decent take. Ozzie needs to STFU when he goes elsewhere. The crap he said about Jenks was inexcusable, and trust me...no one really wants to know all the stuff that's gone on behind the scenes. If you think only reason Ozzie wouldn't be brought back is due to his relationship with Kenny Williams, then I have nothing left to say to you.

QUOTE (greg775 @ Sep 14, 2011 -> 02:47 AM) You don't think Ozzie resents the fact KW is his boss? Ozzie was a good baseball player; Kenny a nothing. Ozzie has a huge ego like most baseball players do. KW did nothing on the field in Oz's eyes IMO. So if someone said Ozzie resents KW cause KW is Stanford educated and Ozzie never went to college, would you say that's a crazy assumption? I think both Ozzie and Kenny have lived very privileged lives and shouldn't be comparing themselves to others.

QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Sep 14, 2011 -> 02:49 AM) At some point it appears he just kind of said "f*** it, the season is over, I'm going to start turning it loose," which for him has turned into a huge positive. No kidding, it's great to see.

Morel looks like a different player out there

Let's see if Ozzie is a man of his word and keeps quiet if he leaves http://www.chicagotribune.com/sports/baseb...0,1570904.story

QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Sep 14, 2011 -> 02:07 AM) Floyd with another Peavyesque performance. Looks like its going to be good for 5 innings, then the roof caves in. Starting pitching has just collapsed.
-
Sure glad we got Dunn and not VMart. Gavin couldn't have made worse pitches to VMart in that AB.
-
Never thought I'd see the day where Morel is a significantly better hitter than Beckham.

QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Sep 14, 2011 -> 01:33 AM) This feels like '05 for me. I actually got up and cheered. I hate Red Sox fans more than I hate Cubs fans. I want them to suffer. Red Sox got the lead. What the hell got into Ellsbury? Had no opposite field homers coming into year, now he had a handful over the Monster as well as hitting near 450 foot homers. Also, make sure you check out Juan Francisco's cheap homer vs the Cubs yesterday.

Longoria with a huge homer!

I want to see Viciedo start getting more loft in his swing. Hits a ton of ground balls it seems.

QUOTE (He_Gawn @ Sep 13, 2011 -> 05:25 PM) Parker will own CBB. Get him the hell out of the BT . I think he'll end up at Washington, but that can definitely change. Duke is my prediction -
Totally different feel with how Tigers beat us compared to how Twins used to. Tigers just hit the hell out of the ball, while Twins would bloop the crap out of it.
-
Jason Stark saying Sox will only give Ozzie to the Marlins for a big-time player. LoMo....welcome to the south side!

QUOTE (Marty34 @ Sep 13, 2011 -> 08:00 PM) That's how bad things are for this organization. A byproduct of Williams' gambles. All of a sudden, you look up and say "wow, that pitching staff is on course to be a mess." Well, Hudson for Jackson was a short-sighted move if I've ever seen one.

QUOTE (Greg Hibbard @ Sep 13, 2011 -> 08:03 PM) I think it's incredibly easy after a disappointing season to see the wheels falling off in all directions. Really, the difference between a 75 game winner and a 90 game winner is sometimes 1-2 players. I'm confident the lineup and staff have enough major pieces to be effective next year, provided they perform, provided that we have new leadership, and provided we obtain some better complimentary pieces. If only there were stats/metrics to determine how many wins a player could add?

QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Sep 13, 2011 -> 02:22 PM) How do you explain the last ten seasons when he had the exact same offseason routine? Sean Casey was on the radio last week saying that as you get older, you do have to adjust your routine. It's not shocking, but he basically guaranteed that his good buddy Dunn would be altering his routine.

The pitching has really fallen off the last month or so. Floyd and Danks now with very average 4.35/4.36 ERAs.

QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ Sep 13, 2011 -> 02:52 AM) So, it's a pretty weak offseason in regards to starting pitching. Oh yeah...year after is loaded though. -

QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Sep 13, 2011 -> 02:42 AM) f*** that. I'd rather him walk than deal him to the Rangers. That team is already too good. Unless they want to throw Profar back at us. Makes a lot of sense for him to replace C.J. Wilson in that rotation. -

QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Sep 13, 2011 -> 03:37 AM) Yes. Danks is who he is. A #3 starter on a good team that can occasionally look like a #1. $11 million is fair to me. I just don't see a trade worthwhile at this point. 12.5 per year is most I go. I don't think he'll bite at that though, and my prediction is he's traded back to the Rangers. -

Be interesting if the Yankees lay down for Tampa.
