  1. QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Aug 25, 2011 -> 07:58 AM) Initial report is that it was a suicide. Yep, and sounds like it was due to the Orioles struggles and him taking it too hard.
  2. QUOTE (greg775 @ Aug 25, 2011 -> 04:13 AM) Ozzie has one year left, right? This is about the time last year they asked him about his contract and all hell broke loose. I would think that question has to come up soon. Ozzie seems to be a realist about such matters. Wonder if he'll say something wild like, 'If I was jerry I wouldn't extend me.' Greg, no one in the Chicago media expects him back next year.
  3. Why would we put Matt Cain in the bullpen?
  4. QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ Aug 25, 2011 -> 05:04 AM) I can't believe how big a fool I was to doubt this team's ability to come back and take the division. I hope everyone got their playoff money in. Lol My new goals for rest of season: - 0 for remainder of year for Juan Pierre (so we don't re-sign him) - 0 for remainder of year for Adam Dunn (one in a million chance he'll retire) - consistent playing time for Viciedo, De Aza, Morel, Flowers - Sox to trade Thornton - call up Addison Reed - lose enough games to have a top 10 draft pick
  5. Just for fun, not a good last two days for Kenny Williams: - Hudson dominates and goes 8.2 innings and gives up 2 runs - De Los Santos gets a win - Brandon Allen hits two mammoth homers - Nick Swisher hits two homers - Jason Frasor picks up loss for Sox - Zach Stewart gets bombed by Angels
  6. And boom...so much for "not a horrible game for Stewart".
  7. QUOTE (greg775 @ Aug 25, 2011 -> 04:57 AM) I actually haven't watched much of the game. I just saw the four runs, in what, five innings? Figured he was so-so or blah tonight. He wasn't very good tonight. Gave up a long two run double to a terrible hitter in Mathis. Got a lot of grounders at least, which is good to see.
  8. Flowers has to do a better job in the future at making adjustments from at bat to at bat.
  9. It's really hard to sum up just how terrible Dunn is. Please retire Adam!
  10. QUOTE (greg775 @ Aug 25, 2011 -> 04:42 AM) I guess I wanted to express concern without seeming ungrateful for Humber's first-half work. Put it this way...if we go into next year with a starting rotation of Floyd, Sale, Peavy, Humber and Stewart, then we better pray that Dunn and Rios have all-star type seasons if we want to contend.
  11. You just have to laugh that we're benching our hottest hitter (Lillibridge) for the worst single-season hitter in baseball history. I guess it would be fitting to end up giving playing time down the stretch to a 42 year old player instead of our 22 year old stud prospect.
  12. QUOTE (Baron @ Aug 25, 2011 -> 03:26 AM) Welp atleast maybe Jim Thome will be here to provide me with something to watch. Give me Viciedo over Thome any day. And wow, Beckham with literally the same exact pop up in both at bats.
  13. Flowers striking out a ton right now...16 in 44 at bats
  14. Fun fact: Barry Zito is engaged to the smoking hot blonde that's on the earnmydegree.com ads
  15. QUOTE (Soxfest @ Aug 25, 2011 -> 04:21 AM) Wells even 2-2 Seems to be really rushing his wind-up, and he just doesn't have the sink he had in his first start with the Sox.
  16. By the way, a nice awful stretch to end the year will get us into the top 10 for draft slot. With how JR spends money on the draft, the first pick for the Sox is really the only where draft position matters.
  17. QUOTE (Soxfest @ Aug 25, 2011 -> 03:09 AM) Stewart has nothing tonight. Be nice if we can stop pitching our starting pitchers in relief, even though Ozzie had to.
  18. De Aza's had some really strong at bats against tough pitchers.
  19. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Aug 25, 2011 -> 03:52 AM) Startin' to see why prophet AA was willing to part with Stewart. His stuff does not impress me. Looks like a #4/5 starter to me out there. Not the worst thing in the world, but his ceiling seems pretty low.
  20. Stewart looks awful. He desperately needs to tighten up his offspeed pitches, as he's basically a one-pitch pitcher, and that is an 91 mph fastball.
  21. F. De Los Santos looks pretty damn legit
  22. QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ Aug 25, 2011 -> 02:33 AM) Wow, half an hour into the game and not a single post about it. People have REALLY stopped caring. I'll get it started...Dunn is a disgrace and shouldn't start another game rest of the way. Tampa with a crazy win over Detroit. Weaver is absolutely making our hitters look silly out there. I guess scouting report says to take pitches against him no matter where they cross the plate.
  23. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Aug 24, 2011 -> 08:42 PM) I think the fist raised in the air one it went out and he started rounding The single greatest moment of my sports watching life.
  24. No thanks...if you look at the holes the Sox have, there's really nothing the Cubs can offer.
