  1. QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Aug 9, 2012 -> 02:34 AM) People say this crap when the offense is slumping, it's called baseball. We're missing two of our best hitters tonight and a s***ty pitcher is throwing a good game against us, so yes, they're going to look unmotivated, I guarantee that's not the case. Lots of incredibly weak first pitch outs tonight definitely added to the perception that they weren't focused.
  2. QUOTE (chw42 @ Aug 9, 2012 -> 02:33 AM) Tigers up 4. Even if we lose, we still have possession of first. Be nice if the Orioles would lose a few games this weekend, as they're on quite the roll as well.
  3. QUOTE (southsideirish71 @ Aug 9, 2012 -> 02:31 AM) Dunn could hit .150 with a .280OBP and he won't shake from the 3 hole. They are going to hope that he just figures it out again. And he also gets to play nearly every game no matter what
  4. QUOTE (RZZZA @ Aug 9, 2012 -> 02:29 AM) The guys just look lazy to me, they show up from the start unready to play. Thats what it looks like to me. Maybe they're missing some competitive fire in the clubhouse, or maybe the manager is not motivating them enough. Early in the game, it was obvious they were flat tonight. Something just seemed off, and I think we really miss Rios' presence in the lineup. His swagger at the plate has been amazing of late.
  5. QUOTE (The Ginger Kid @ Aug 9, 2012 -> 02:28 AM) Kenny, your move Hudson's 20 hop single up the middle probably got him another 2 months on the roster
  6. QUOTE (southsideirish71 @ Aug 9, 2012 -> 02:26 AM) The Astro's series at home, the cubs series at home. Or losing a game to the Tigers when you led 6-0 with Peavy on the mound?
  7. QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Aug 9, 2012 -> 02:26 AM) I haven't seen most of this game but it appears as if Guthrie actually has some good stuff tonight. I know it's going to be hard to get a legit answer here but has he thrown the ball well today or has it been bad ab's from our hitters? He's pitched great tonight. Command has been perfect. With that said, lots of hitters in the Sox lineup that are just really easy outs right now. Dunn specifically has had atrocious at bats.
  8. QUOTE (Caesar @ Aug 9, 2012 -> 02:24 AM) When we lose this division we can look back on this series as to why. No offense and Ventura resting PK and Rios for no reason. Rios has a bad back, and there are a lot of games you can always look back at as season changers. This series wouldn't even be close to some of the worse losses on the year.
  9. QUOTE (chw42 @ Aug 9, 2012 -> 03:22 AM) This is our last chance here. I don't see us hitting Holland in the 9th. With how Guthrie's thrown and the BS part of the lineup up, I like our chances in the 9th much better. Danks swings like he's just happy to hit the ball. No authority at all, and he needs to stop making weak outs on the first pitch.
  10. Overmatched...KW knows what needs to take place
  11. QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Aug 9, 2012 -> 02:19 AM) Reddick bothers me for some reason. Very good player, just annoys me for some reason, can't even tell you why. Ironic, as I'm a huge fan of his personality he showed on MLB Network
  12. QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Aug 9, 2012 -> 03:18 AM) In the long run having Quintana strong and ADA healthy trumps a bad one game, overall. I can safely say that without a healthy ADA, this team has no chance to make the postseason. If he's injured, you can't even think about platooning Viciedo, etc.
  13. AJ's defense...yikes
  14. QUOTE (The Ginger Kid @ Aug 9, 2012 -> 03:15 AM) Need some mojo going into this next series A's have been bombing away with the long ball. I still get so frustrating thinking that they got Reddick and more for Bailey.
  15. QUOTE (Cali @ Aug 9, 2012 -> 02:13 AM) Yep. "Right Now" as in the team playing at 9:12 central time against Jeremy Guthrie in Chicago down 2-0 in the 8th inning. Absolutely despise them. What's to like right now? Quintana's performance and that ADA is back healthy
  16. QUOTE (Cali @ Aug 9, 2012 -> 02:12 AM) Pretty sad that this game was over when KC went up 1-0. They had NO chance tonight with that lineup. No matter how awful Guthrie was (and is) YOU KNOW he is going to get DESTROYED in his next start no matter who it is Guthrie's facing The game's not over yet, this team has made a strong comeback in nearly every game the last few months.
  17. QUOTE (The Ginger Kid @ Aug 9, 2012 -> 02:07 AM) AAAA, AAA, DFA At this point in his career, a platoon LF; a late inning replacement player; Baseball Tonight analyst
  18. QUOTE (Chet Kincaid @ Aug 9, 2012 -> 02:10 AM) It'll be a damn shame to lose this game. Why, we've been dominated in every aspect (for the second straight night).
  19. Well, we got Viciedo, Danks and Hudson up in the 8th
  20. Man oh man. I can't remember the last time the Sox just got absolutely dominated by a pitcher with this bad of a season going.
  21. Why trade him though with all the uncertainty with guys like Sale and Danks?
  22. Thankfully we have him batting there instead of AJ or Rios (when healthy). I love the point someone made recently about 2005 and moving Dye into the 3rd spot.
  23. Invisible bat, shades of '11
  24. Beautiful swing by Beckham there. Time for Dunn to square up one of those fastballs.
