Wait, did Weber really say that about the Minnesota game?

Sox sign Kosuke Fukudome
I was going to suggest this last week...I love this signing. Gives us a lefty that can help rest Viciedo against tough righties. And one thing is for sure...he'll hit great in April.

2012 Cuban signees thread Cespedes/Soler/Concepcion
Something I've noticed in a lot of articles about the 3 Cubans is the tidbit that Viciedo is in the last year of his contract. Is this true? Didn't think it was.

2012 Cuban signees thread Cespedes/Soler/Concepcion
QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Feb 14, 2012 -> 05:16 AM) I'd like to point out we were favorites for Concepcion and Marlins for Cespedes. Supposedly there was some false information being presented and Concepcion was headed to the Cubs for a while.

2012 Cuban signees thread Cespedes/Soler/Concepcion
I'm happy that the Sox didn't end up spending a fortune on these 3 Cubans, but the question has to be asked "what exactly was KW talking about when he said that trading Quentin allowed them to do some creative things financially they couldn't have done before the trade"?

2011-2012 NCAA Basketball Thread
QUOTE (whitesoxfan99 @ Feb 10, 2012 -> 10:47 PM) That is one of those calls that by the letter of the rule is the right call but if you call that there is a moving screen committed on every single possession during a basketball game and there are moving screens significantly worse than that not called on a significant number of possessions each game. To call that in a 3 pt game with Leonard having 3 fouls is inexcusable. But college refs are amazing incompetent so it doesn't surprise me. The leap in reffing ability from college to the NBA is nearly as big of a jump as the basketball talent. The second the refs called that foul, I thought it was due to them being annoyed with Leonard's demeanor on the court.

Refs lost control of that game. Thought they gave IU benefit of the doubt on a lot of drives, but Leonard absolutely lost his cool at times tonight. For Illinois to win, they needed Paul to show up and he didn't.

Peavy ready for bounce back season
QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Feb 8, 2012 -> 04:44 PM) Please tell me why any of that matters. Fans care about their team winning games, not whether or not the GM is friendly with them or understands them. You could be the nicest, most down-to-earth GM in sports, if your teams suck, the fans will want you out. KW is no different person than he was 5 years ago. Just 5 years ago, he was coming off a WS title, now his teams are perenially underachieving. You never hear KW brag about how much money he has like Ozzie has.

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Feb 6, 2012 -> 06:07 PM) You couldn't touch them at that point, (5 yard chuck rule) at least until the deflection actually occurred, and by then it is too late. You can have people stand close to them at least. There was no one close to Gronk and Woodhead.

Super Bowl 46 thread
The real question is, what in the hell were the Giants defenders doing on that last play? You can't allow two Patriots receivers to not having anyone blocking them out in case of the deflected ball.

QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Feb 6, 2012 -> 06:30 PM) Hernandez dropped the very next ball after the Branch drop/deflection. Hernandez' was 100 percent a drop. Branch, they didnt show the replay enough but i was fairly sure it was defelcted Thing is, Hernandez dropping that ball was a good thing. 10 yards in exchange for 20 seconds wasn't what the Pats needed.

QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Feb 6, 2012 -> 04:16 PM) Also, there are Illini fans clamoring for Jerrance Howard to be HC. God no. Keep him on as assistant, but just no to him taking over control. I can't imagine any scenario in which Howard is still with the program next year. If he doesn't get a shot at the head job (which he shouldn't), then he's going to want to try and land any head coaching job he possibly can. As I've seen others say elsewhere, if you land a coach that can actually recruit, then Howard wouldn't be as important as he is now.

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Feb 6, 2012 -> 02:27 AM) I've thought that Pass interference should be reviewable for years now. That play, probably wouldn't have been overturned on review. Very close. It was pretty damn obvious his arm was draped on the receiver's left shoulder.

Great, now we're going to have to hear people b**** all offseason about how there should be instant replay for penalties....or something ridiculous like that.

QUOTE (Felix @ Feb 4, 2012 -> 06:29 AM) Would you prefer I use eFG%? Either way, there isn't a doubt that Morrow is a very good shooter, but to say he's one of the best of all time is a ridiculous hyperbole. Any stat that says Deron Williams is a better shooter than Anthony Morrow seems flawed to me.

QUOTE (thxfrthmmrs @ Feb 4, 2012 -> 04:01 AM) That's irrelevant. TS% takes account of FTA vs FGA too. Not just the mades. And you have no idea whether the players takes a lot of shots at the rim or take long jump shots. Never heard of this stat, to be honest

BTW, always fun to remember that a team with Thad Young, Javaris Crittenton and Anthony Morrow (along with two other players who made the NBA in Alade Aminu and Mario West) couldn't win a postseason game in college. I hate you Paul Hewitt!

QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Feb 4, 2012 -> 04:11 AM) I demand you be suspended for excessive hyperbole. C'mon, fathom. Bird, Miller, Allen, Nash, Curry (Dell), Ellis (Dale), Rice. That's just off the top of my head. Morrow is not in that class. Not even close. And which one of those shooters led the NBA in 3 point percentage their rookie year? Morrow's career 3 pt percentage is 45%

QUOTE (bigruss22 @ Feb 3, 2012 -> 01:16 AM) Ugh, this sucks. The time when they probably actually want to spend money on these guys the market goes nuts to get ahead of the new CBA. FANTASTIC. f***. And then KW will probably say it's hard to spend a dollar when you have 50 cents.
