  1. Good luck recovering from this game Ozzie. BTW, righties hit Nathan better than lefties do, and Lillibridge homered off of Nathan a few weeks ago.
  2. David Aardsma...David Aardsma...David Aardsma
  3. It's more scary that it's the first time Ozzie Jr. has disagreed with his dad.
  4. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Aug 31, 2011 -> 09:48 PM) They are pitching to him? Seriously? Old school approach of not putting tying run on base.
  5. Wow do I hope Ozzie gets roasted for that move. Nothing like sitting our best power hitter for the last few weeks for the worst hitter in baseball history for a season.
  6. Didn't Lillibridge homer off of Nathan last time he faced him?
  7. If the Sox do decide to rebuild this offseason, then I absolutely support Morel playing 3rd base next year.
  8. QUOTE (WilliamTell @ Aug 31, 2011 -> 09:40 PM) Adam Dunn on deck? Oh no! Well, Dunn does have more power than Lillibridge.
  9. Ozzie handled Peavy fine today. By time they had 6 runs, reliever wouldn't have been ready. No one to blame for Twins scoring 7 except for Peavy.
  10. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Aug 31, 2011 -> 09:35 PM) And I was so close to having a reason to ban both accounts! didn't know moreltalk.com had such strict rules
  11. QUOTE (JohnCangelosi @ Aug 31, 2011 -> 08:33 PM) Morel has been an awful hitter all year. An absolute sally who has had the approach of being down 0-2 to Johan Santana in his prime before he got into the batter's box just about every time he's gone to bat. If next year is a rebuilding year, fine, give him the job and a new hitting coach and I am fine with it. If we're trying to win, sigh I swear I don't have two accounts on here
  12. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Aug 31, 2011 -> 08:30 PM) the Twins were playing no doubles set. Nothing wrong with that from Flowers point of view, just bad luck. Yep, as long as he makes contact, he's dangerous. Proud of the fight in this team today.
  13. Balta, the whole point about Morel is that if you go into next year with 4 guys you have to hope have a huge turnaround season from 2011 in Dunn/Rios/Beckham/Morel, then you're setting yourself up for a potentially really bad year. As I mentioned earlier, 3b seems the most obvious position where you can try to upgrade if you don't want to trade Beckham.
  14. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Aug 31, 2011 -> 08:14 PM) Clearly you're still not getting it. Both DJ and Melton are saying he's stronger than what he's showed. You're contending that he's not strong enough to play the position in the first place. Neither of them agree with you. I said the style he plays isn't strong enough. If they can't convince him to get more lift as well as pull the ball with authority, then he'll never hit at an acceptable rate. He hits at the plate like he's Luis Polonia. Can he be a 15-20 homer guy in the majors? Yes, absolutely...but if you're not going to be willing to work on hitting the ball hard, then you better be able to draw walks or hit the gap more.
  15. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Aug 31, 2011 -> 08:08 PM) swing and a miss. Oh please...hitting like a pansy = being scared to strike out and just going up there just trying to make soft contact. The Sox have very conservative announcers when it comes to ripping on their own. Sounds like they're trying to get through to Morel.
  16. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Aug 31, 2011 -> 09:04 PM) Nah, he's a pansy. Yep, and now we have Melton and DJ being critical of how defensive he is at the plate this week.
  17. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Aug 31, 2011 -> 09:03 PM) Garland also threw a bunch of offspeed stuff. I'd love to know the pitch selection breakdown from Garland's good years. I don't recall him throwing more a ton of sliders.
  18. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Aug 31, 2011 -> 09:00 PM) And yet, earlier in this thread you said that Stewart's stuff wasn't impressive. It's not, as I said yesterday they need to have him scrap that terrible slip pitch he throws and just work on being a sinker pitcher (aka Jon Garland).
  19. And balta, Beckham/Hudson/Floyd/Danks all showed potential to at least be average players in the majors when they were younger. Morel just seems far too weak to be a starting third baseman in the majors. To me, seems like you're putting your team at a big disadvantage to be lacking pop at a corner infield position.
  20. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Aug 31, 2011 -> 08:56 PM) Gordon Beckham can't hit a good fastball. He doesn't belong in the big leagues. Zach Stewart doesn't look impressive and he has not repeatability on his delivery. He doesn't belong in the big leagues. Daniel Hudson is doing nothing but nibbling on the corners. He doesn't belong in the big leagues. Gavin Floyd's only good starts were against Detroit and they hit the ball very close to the wall a lot. He doesn't belong in the big leagues. John Danks wore out down the stretch and his stuff was never that impressive anyway. He doesn't belong in the big leagues. And with better coaching/adjustments, Beckham/Stewart/Hudson's issues were/are easily fixable. However, too many stubborn people in Sox organization. I don't remember many people saying Danks stuff wasn't that good either.
  21. QUOTE (The Ginger Kid @ Aug 31, 2011 -> 08:54 PM) what a POS Frasor has been. Let him go pitch for his childhood team, the flubs. Our Major League talent evaluators truly couldn't be worse at their job the last few years.
  22. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Aug 31, 2011 -> 08:54 PM) I still think Zambrano for Rios is the most likely "bad contract" deal out there for the Sox. Sign me up, as at least you only have one more year of Zambrano's bad deal
  23. Frasor is just so hittable. I remember him having more movement on his fastball in the past.
  24. QUOTE (stretchstretch @ Aug 31, 2011 -> 08:44 PM) hate to see a team get in so unconvincingly, but here it comes They're going to have a starting pitcher end up with 22-23 wins likely and a perfect closer on the year (at this point). If this was the Twins a year ago, everyone would be saying they have a great shot to advance to the World Series.
  25. How come it's only our 2008 MVP front runner that hurts himself when he's frustrated? How did Zambrano and others never get hurt?
